Movie: Skateboard Sense

Safety film about the (then) new hobby of skateboarding. Produced by Sid Davis.
1970s

This is one hell of a fun retro flashback. With the xtreme games and other skateboard events of today it is amazing to look back at where it started from. (I remeber being a kid of 6-9 and having one of these old super hard board with no play in the trucks types.. Those were the days, hell if they had skateboards like they do these days (With shocks, flex and otehr goodies) i wouldnt have nearly broken my kneck 20 times !! HA!) zt

here are two file types to choose from
mpeg
skateboard_sense.mpeg
or
mp4
skateboard_sense_512kb.mp4

Thanks to the IA for this retro gem!

Misc comments from IA

Surprisingly mellow Sid Davis production covering skateboarding safety, circa 1975. If you have ever seen the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys, you'll recognized the surfing influenced skating moves displayed in this film. For that alone, this makes this a wonderful time capsule.

RaDiCaL video, dude! Takes me back to my youth - banana boards and any incline we could find in the city. Too bad my bones couldn't handle the fall nowadays.

Can you imagine these guys with their helmets (I'm not talking about just their hair), their elbow and knee pads and their 'tricks' going into a competition today? They'll be laughed off I tell you!

enjoy

Some may feel squeamish about eating it, but rabbit has a fan base that grows as cooks discover how easy they are to raise — and how good the meat tastes.

Old piles of good sh... stuff

These are spotlighted items - not always 'old' because of when they were made but rather these are things that were posted awhile ago on this blog and have been 'archived' in the back.
