Snail Mail

Lineman Son found this in his grove of trees - the grove which is
full of junk, steel junk....... or junque.  I see a few
items have been labeled "pretty neat" and have made it
up to the house to be cleaned up and displayed.

This is one of them -

An old steel mailbox made by  "Western Steel Products,
Duluth, Minn."  when searching for information - there
was or is  a Western Steel Products, Co. in Duluth, MN.
which manufactured steel fire escapes and sheet
metal products.

The  mailbox has a flipper door on the front which allowed
you to put mail in the box without opening the door.

The flag is still on the side, a bit worn but working just fine.

Inside the box you will find this very little box - we wonder
if that is for "coin" change.  Do you have any ideas?

If anybody has any information, please share!

I don't know if this is right or not but one could leave change in the box if ya didn't have a stamp and needed one. 'Just sayin'....

Now I'm curious too.

I've thought about puttin' up a mail~box in the rose garden to hold gloves and tools to prune the roses.

God bless ya and have an incredible day!

Hon, hows your mama? I haven't seen her 'round lately.

I also think the little box inside is for coins for stamps. I grew up in the country, and if you didn't have a stamp, you could leave money in the mailbox for the mailman and he would put a stamp on your mail for you. This is a cool 'find'! It's always a shame that there's trash lying around, but I'm glad someone like you has found it and will find a way to use it creatively. I hope you will share whatever you do with it!

That is a very cool find. I also think that little box is for coins that you could put out for a stamp.
I wish the boxes today where made with that flap on the front.
Have a nice day
