Roy Buchanan - Austin, TX. 1979

Roy Buchanan - Armadillo World Headquarters
Austin, TX
April 28, 1979

Soundboard @flac
2 CDRs, 18 Tracks SBD

Disc 1
01. Lonesome Fugitive
02. Green Onions
03. Hold On
04. All You Have To Do Is Lose
05. Dr. Rock n Roll
06. Hey Joe/Shenandoa
07. Foxy Lady/Up From the Skies/Fire
08. I'm Evil
09. Johnny B. Goode
10. So Many Problems (?)

Disc 2
01. Dr. Rock n Roll
02. Hey Joe/cuts into? Shenandoa
03. Foxy Lady/Up From the Skies/Fire
04. Can I Change My Mind
05. Sunshine of My Love
06. Roy's Bluz
07. Hold On
08. Honky Tonk

On disc 1 there's a small glitch on Track 4 at 7:12,
another glitch at 34 seconds on Track 7 right where Up From the Skies starts, the transition
from Up From the Skies doesn't sound quite right either, like it had been stuck
in there for some reason and track 9 starts a tad late and abruptly.
On disc 2 there's a glitch at 8:31 on track 2, also 7 seconds in on track 3.
Other than those small flaws, this is a great show and a great soundboard recording.

Thanks to the original source and Edge at Guitars101!!

Roy Buchanan with Buddy Guy & Junior Wells - NY. 1984

Roy Buchanan with Buddy Guy & Junior Wells
Beacon Theatre
1984-05-04
NYC, NY
Excellent unknown source! @flac

*Trader Notes*

It's an adventure going through these old tapes I traded for about 25 years ago. This one was marked as Buddy Guy with Junior Wells and Roy Buchanan NYC 1984-05-04. I found this link while trying to do some research on the show:

http://www.nytimes.com/1984/05/04/arts/pop-and-rock.html

Can you imagine seeing this show for $10 or whatever? Those were the days !!. I believe this performance by Roy is the same show that Slickdaddio posted as 1984-03-04 a few years ago BUT this is a different source than that recording, and it does appear to be the same show. My link above confirms 1984-05-04 is the correct date for this show. Since I only had about 10 minutes of the Guy / Wells performance and appeared to have most of the RB set, I decided to post the show as such, since there really is no good way to present a 10 minute performance under its own torrent. I though it made sense to post all of this together since it's obviously from the same recorder.

Magic Slim & The Teardrops ~ Roy Buchanan - The Last Recordings

Rebooted as requested
Originally posted November 27, 2013

A Dave Sez contribution...

Magic Slim & The Teardrops - last recording
Hot August Blues & Roots Music Festival
Cockeysville, Maryland, August 18, 2012
AUD A-, @320

From the Dave Sez archive:
Magic Slim, who died on February 21, 2013, occupied a similar position in American music to Dr. Feelgood in the UK - a blues band coming up during the punk era, although Slim's classic Chicago blues differed from the Feelgood's pub rhythm & blues. I was lucky enough to hear his first album back in 1977, and have been hooked ever since. This is the last recording of Magic Slim I know of, recorded just after his 75th birthday and six months before his death.

01 Intro Jam
02 Bad Boy
03 Just In Case We Both Are Wrong
04 Older Woman
05 I Got Money
06 Unknown (?)
07 Breaking Up Somebody's Home
08 Sunny Road Blues
09 Someone Else Is Steppin' In
10 Going To Mississippi

Recorded by Alex Leary, posted by blogstoned and by locoporweb,
all links now dead. Thanks to all!
Bonus: Magic Slim's live recordings for French public radio (1978, 2000 and 2003, 1 x wma)

Roy Buchanan - Last Recording
(AUD A-, 25 MB @ 92 kbps, but excellent sound)

From the Dave Sez archive:
A real rarity: Roy's second to last gig, at the Club Soda in Montreal, July-August 1988. His last show was on August 7, 1988 in Guilford [sic] CT, which was not recorded; he died in a police cell in the Fairfax County VA lock-up on August 14.

Thanks to hootad binkytime via slikstricks for this excellent recording. Whilst bottom bit rate, great sound, so all credit to the taper! Full CD covers and text included.

Set List:
1 - Peter Gunn
2 - Down By the River
3 - Goose Grease
4 - When A Guitar Plays the Blues
5 - Drownin' On Dry Land
6 - Purple Haze

Thanks to DrKick for song list update!
