The Maü-Maü - Maü Music For Maü People - 2013

The Maü-Maü - Maü Music For Maü People - 2013
Studio Recordings @ 128

Talk about burning fast and bright in late 2012  The Maü-Maü  erupted onto the Quebec scene like an out of control lead sled rocket  and word of the band spread pretty fast .With a ton of pedigree comes high expectations  and here was a  band that more than  lived up to all the noise that has been surrounding them.In early 2013 they went into the studio to lay down their debut album, played a few killer shows ,took the summer off, packed it in  and then put out their one and only album. That said "Maü Music For Maü People" is nothing short of a pure rush. This puppy smashes in with 15 in your face tracks that for the most part don't let up .Self described as "Psycho- voodoo-garage-a-billy-deluxe" this is all that and more.Let's just say this is raw garage melding with psychobilly that makes for a rough but kool  brew.Highlights include : "Three Men One Coffin", "Red Headed Plag","Sous Les Tropiq" and "Maü Baker".

It's sad that The Maü-Maü are no longer and they really were a band that managed to impress more than a few people . "Maü Music For Maü People " is nothing short of a damn fine album  and a pretty good testament to a short lived kool band that knew how to blow the doors off the joint. The band has posted the album HERE FOR FREE!!...

Radical Face - The Bastards EP's

Nightclothes by Radical Face

Singer-Songwriter Radical Face's The Family Tree trilogy is the story of a fictitious, and sometimes otherworldly, 19th century family. The story is told by using melodies and instrumentation to represent "family members", and only using instruments that would have been available during that era of the story.
In advance of the release of the final album in The Family Tree trilogy next year, Radical Face stays with tradition by releasing The Bastards that didn't make the album but are more than worthy of being shared. The Bastards 3 EP is the next installment in this series and will be a welcome relief to fans everywhere looking for new Radical Face music.

The third Bastards EP is now up on Spotify. These EPs are just the songs that didn't fit on the proper records, but they are still a part of the whole Family Tree project. And the songs aren't throwaways. I'm actually quite happy with them. They just didn't fit the album in terms of pace, or tone.

Dark Horses

http://www.darkhorsesmusic.com/

Bleak, haunting and lonely. It's not just a description of London as we enter the cold, early nights of Winter, it's also a description of Dark Horses' debut. The capital's latest offspring are 50s inspired rock'n'rollers, all leathered up and self designed to the max (their limited live appearances see them all in branded jackets and slicked back hair). They own more than a love of Venus In Furs-esque noise and Jesus and Mary Chains stoner rock outs.

To Kill A King - Word Of Mouth [EP]

To Kill A King - Word Of Mouthe [EP]

To Kill A King is a band out of London. “Word of Mouth” is a 6 song EP that was released in July of this year. Their sound is something like relaxed indie rock meets folk, but with a twist. The first association that came to this author’s mind was Noah and the Whale, because the lead singer has that same engagingly waxy vocal style where the pace often falls somewhere between singing and talking emotively. Plus, they take on some of life’s larger issues, or at least more heartfelt issues, in their lyrics. Paul Simon also comes to mind (except they don’t talk in coded lyrics). They employ developed song progressions, so be sure to let the songs entirely play out before you decide if you like them. It’s very sincere and well thought out music. Funeral is a toe-tapping number that builds to an enjoyable crescendo of sorts and show what their version of pent up energy sounds like. Beside She Says is meant to be a reflective & mellow song, but with a few different tempo & styles are used to access that feeling. It’s a very dynamic song in that manner. Wolves is a fun one, it begins with a playful country guitar riff, but then weaves it’s way into a strutter that might cajole you into some movement.
