15mm FOW Battlefront Team Yankee ZSU 23-4 "Shilka", 1.5 million hits.......

..........and has anyone seen my blog rolls?

A couple of 15mm ZSU 23-4 from Flames of War new Team Yankee range set around the time of the cold war in the 1980's, the pieces are resin with metal parts, they're not too bad apart from some damage to the hull (broken pieces not in blister pack either). Painted up for forces either in the middle east or eastern Europe and still in use to this day!

Trying to use what I can for my modern skirmish gaming and have used some other vehicles from the range including scenery!

Hit 1.5 million hits a while back but wasn't online at the time and in the last few days have lost both blog rolls ( I know a little careless but they have vanished) and I am currently trying to catch up and remember a lot, if you want to remind me of any just check the current blog roll to the left.

The acronym "ZSU" stands for Zenitnaya Samokhodnaya Ustanovka (Russian: Зенитная Самоходная Установка), meaning "anti-aircraft self-propelled mount"; the "23" signifies the bore diameter in millimeters; the "4" signifies the number of gun barrels. It is named after the Shilka River in Russia. Afghan soldiers nicknamed it the "sewing machine" due to the sound of firing guns. It is also referred to by its nickname of "Zeus".

15mm Modern African Forces "The New Simbas".....

.........rumors leak that Rayonia is financing insurgency in Franonia?

Who needs some modern African forces for shenanigans in my country of Franonia, seemingly I do?

All these boys are from Peter Pig and represent a warlord/dictators force with armour to spread his influence or be bought off/hired by greedy countries....

The armour is three old T-55's, some unimogs and a land rover .......

Got these last year and painted them for a painting challenge, I spoke to the Khurasan guy/gentleman not too long ago (end of May this year) about the promised support elements........
 "......... the platoon weapons have been made for the NKs. Just waiting for them to be painted up for sale. Mortar team, PK machine gun, DshK HMG, and sagger team."


I had spoke to him last year about a command for the NKs but it didn't sound promising due to costs so I bought a Khurasan sci-fi mid tech command squad for a likely looking leader and the last picture (the worst picture) shows officer plus female aide, these will do until something better comes along!

The eyesight is getting worse or it's time for the magnifying glass, those collar tabs are a little untidy!

My 15mm Modern North Korean Forces Part 1.....

.........or has Kim Jung-Un set his eyes on Franonia?

These North Korean forces whilst not exactly accurate are close enough to represent some North Korean armoured forces, we have 10 Peter Pig T-55's, 4 Btr-60's (including a command), a ZSU-23-4, 2 Gaz-469's and an old Mercedes for a leader or commander.

I have the infantry from Khurasan painted and hope to add the support weapons this year when they're released, I asked about a command group but I don't think this will happen.

Angry Lurker Honest Movie Review 98: Olympus Has Fallen 2013 (3 STARS).

"I don't mind any flag waving in a movie, if you're proud of your country what's the problem but Independence Day did push the boundaries though!"

A Secret Service agent formerly in the Presidential protection detail but now sits behind a desk in the Treasury gets involved when the White House is breached by North Korean terrorists and the President and most of his cabinet are taken hostage, it's up to our hero (Gerard Butler) to save the day, save the kid and kick ass!

This movie has had several other movies referred to it such as Die Hard in the White House, Under Siege in the White House etc.....and I believe at one stage that Gerard Butler put his own money into the movie as the budget was been slashed as it went on.......

..........now this movie has some great scenes and ideas for wargamers, it's current with North and South Korea being involved, the action is very good, great effects, good cast (Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett, Dylan McDermott, Rick Yune) but it's a little implausible (a few plot holes maybe) with Americas current security standing that the North Korean terrorists would get this far into the heart of America in such numbers (especially a gunship but what do I know), several people have whined about thequality of the Secret Service and the level of patriotism and flag waving, it's an attack on the nation, an attack on the White House what do you expect, it's not that much in your face and I didn't see that much of a problem with any of it......... 

.....what this is is very entertaining, Butler is a ruthless git and goes through the terrorists like faeces through a goose, a popcorn movie of the highest order!

Franonia goes ballistic!

Franonia not wanting to be left out of the missile and rocket testing dominating the planet at the moment and refusing North Korean second hand surplus offers, we unveil the Blightmaster Series 7!

No idea where I got this or when I bought it or painted it and it could do with a repaint maybe but it will have it's uses!
