Good luck to all.............

My mate brought in his laptop to work and I've caught up on a lot of blogs (I can access Google+ at work but nothing else) and confirmed a sneaking suspicion that I'm in the fifth painting challenge over at Curts place........

.....which could be a problem as I've no ready access to a laptop at the moment and hope to be moving country soon....

......but it does go on until March he says!!!!!

Good luck to everybody taking part all the same.............

Fecking hell.................

Where did I put those bleeding Orks?

600 POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!

He's having a fecking laugh..................

Some of the Analogue Hobbies 2014 Challenge Wager Figures.......

During last years Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge there was a side bet between seven bloggers (Ray, myself, Tamsin, BigLee, Clint, Stefan and Dave) for who would reach 600 points first and the prize was a figure from the losers to the winner.........I won!

Firstly we have Stefan and his rude Scotsmen from Westphalia Miniatures.......

Very rude......

Next from Tamsin a mobster Francis "The Lurker" Lee, arrived at Broadside inside this lovely box.......

Handsome fecker........

Next came BigLee and a Foundry Wild West figure I believe............

Then we had Clint and his Wild West bad guy..........

Beautiful work people and will be added to my fellow painters collection, growing quiet big..........

Still waiting on Ray though ( he has told me to go feck myself so far) and nice guy Dave!

Ding Dongs, Twinkies......and The Painting Challenge

Received two blogging wins in the post last week and also have decided to enter the 4th Annual Analogue Hobbies Challenge  after a kind invite from Curt and even with my painting drought/malaise continuing but what the hell...........I have finished in the top ten twice I think but this time it will be in the top 40th or below if I'm lucky with the good job finished and finances stretched but let's see how it goes.........no sandbags here!

This large box turned up from Mellie Mel with just my name and some random persons name by mistake (probably meant my other half which is not Ray as some of you feckers are thinking).......looks like Jay?

Some cards, one might say Pay?........

What a box of sugary goodness..........

Also received these books from Carl when he ran a giveaway and myself and Ray won some books but Ray who was pulled out of the hat first got first choice.........but what's this I've received both book prizes, how did that happen?????

Also Ray has dragged his poor, beautiful, kind, understanding wife into the snoring/sleeping debate by posting this bitstrip on Facebook........such a fecking liar!

28mm Foundry ACW Confederate Prisoners with Union Escorts and.......

..........a drunk on duty!

Lovely set of figures from Foundry, little use to the game other than eye candy but what does that matter, the less useful the set is to the actual game the more I seem to like it!

3rd Annual Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge....and "Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war" again!

It's that time of year again over at Curts blog ( Canadian Thor look-a-like!) and a fellow reject and he has launched his annual painting challenge (otherwise known as Ray's cheating challenge), I'll be honest that I didn't want to enter this year, the painting funk and I'll probably be out of a job before the end of the challenge doesn't help but then I got over myself and entered with a project I've been collecting/hoarding for quite a few months now....

......a 28mm ACW/Wild West skirmish period, Outlaw Josey Wales meets True Grit and takes a turn at The Horse Soldiers with a pinch of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly!

There's a few new rules (I think), new points system (I believe) but no rule regarding cheating shites (Ray!) but at least the 20% extra Reject point bonus should be in effect this year (Curt still remembers the pasta and t-shirt) but Ray is exempt and I will be watching the rule bending, pre-painted, not my figures cheating work dodging Ironsides git for all other participants, I feel it's my duty!

Plastic and metal goodness........

May not make it until the end but let's paint it like we stole it people (..like Ray!).

15mm Painted Critical Mass Games Sci-Fi Buildings....

.......or not only do the dice gods feck with you but then the fecking painting gods come and urinate in your cereal bowl! There's a clue in the last two pictures, anyway lovely buildings I got for my birthday and other sources, great company with an excellent after service.

Lovely pieces of kit with nice detail on the interior and exterior......

Just a hint of peeling.....

....and another!

It may have been where I stored them, I may leave it to show sci-fi neglect on a planet, maybe it's time for a new period and scale and a challenge but that's for tomorrow!

The Painting Challenge is over and I finished 4th but Ray.......

......won and congratulations to the ginger twit!

But I am knackered (figure painting and mentally knackered), the challenge was from 20th December 2011 until 20th March 2012, at the beginning I didn't take it too seriously and didn't submit anything until the 31st of December but slowly the juices started flowing and myself an Ray started a rivalry with the intention of trying to finish in the top 5....

In that time I painted
112 20mm figures
371 15mm figures
17 20mm vehicles of all shapes and sizes
55 15mm vehicles of varying shapes and sizes
1 28mm figure for a separate part of the challenge

Not a lot really but I only painted during the week and had a couple of weeks off and I still painted to my own standard and never compromised on that but I enjoyed myself immensely and bloody well done to Curt who we are seeing at Salute and a game we're putting on the next day.....

4th out of the 24 limit that was set but I'm done in with figures....now where is all that bloody scenery that wasn't allowed in the Challenge!

20mm Painted Soviet WW2 Command Base.

One of my entries for the painting challenge will be this command base from Britannia Miniatures of command motivating the troops, it usually comprises 5 figures but the other two have joined the partisans and took command of an infantry company.

I wasn't in a rush to paint this as it's really only a diorama or a bit of eye candy but the challenge means points.....

Up to 8th place out of 24......
