Angry Lurker Honest Movie Review 102: Wind River 2017 (4 STARS)

Back doing these reasonably honest and short reviews again, a form of therapy and after a few requests, no rhyme or reason to whether it's the latest release or slightly older but my third love after the SWMBO and the wargaming hobby!

An experienced game ranger finds the frozen body native american woman on the Wind River reservation, the FBI send an inexperienced young agent, these will eventually team up to investigate the woman's death........

Excellent piece of cinema, great performances, a slow boil and an epic stand off scene along the way, grim, bleak but a decent ending....... 

Some trivia for you.......

 Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) lost four toenails filming the trailer scene.

It took 40 days for the shoot to complete.

Wind River Indian Reservation is the seventh-largest Indian reservation in the U.S.

The film is based on actual events.

15mm Sci-Fi Villains, Scum and Characters from......

As the sci-fi collection grows I have added alien characters for variety, scenery, objectives etc.....they are a mixture of Ion Age, Khurasan, Brigade Models and Critical Mass I believe?

........., 150+ books read (1 euro charity shops, I am now calling myself Jack Reacher), some miniatures even painted, all DVD's watched, no cinema, no porn, no telegraph pole, no takeaways, no wargames,, no telephone line, no fibre optic, no wargames shows, no porn, no proper TV.........

The many faces of Wargaming or doing as you're told!

On Sunday Posties Rejects met up for a game of 15mm ancients and as you've possibly heard here and here it was a bit of a disaster for BigLee and Ray, the game was finely set up by Postie with hidden units and possible Favour of the Gods markers all over the place but where the problem started was with one side's man in charge sticking to a plan (in his eyes a good plan) that other's possibly didn't think so!

Now you know me a little and I'm not one to focus on the misery of others (well Ray can be an exception) but I felt sorry for the boys and did a little pictorial tribute to the many faces of wargaming...our hobby.

Will post some of my pictures of my game tomorrow for eye candy purposes, sorry about yesterday but the SWMBO was in her birthday mode so I took the day off and hid.

This is going to be a good day and a good game my friend....

Inspiring Picture 31: Villains Accuracy?

It's bad enough when your lackeys and henchmen can't hit the side of a barn door while standing beside it but you can't knock off the hero yourself as the villain other than give him a fecking flesh wound but not before you tell him the fecking plot.

Note to self when I take over the world, no giving away the plot and the henchmen (maybe henchwomen?) need firearms and accuracy training but obviously not too bright as you don't want them getting ideas!

Got a game this weekend with the Rejects so you all have a good one this weekend hopefully especially the Thanksgiving lot who are still enjoying their 4 day weekend!

A Year Older........

......but only physically not mentally. I work to the premise that you add the two digits of your birthday together which in my case is 43 today in "human" years but only 14 in mental years (4+3x2= 14) which is true of all men and you'll never be older than 36 my brothers.

Got a nice haul of good stuff from friends and family (but nothing from Ray again) and a few bucks to spend on a few other things, it's nice to get what we as men and modellers want and not socks and hankies as last year I got a clothes brush and scarf among some other dodgy items (can I get an amen brothers and sisters).

Still waiting on something from The One and back to work on Monday.

"Goodies" even if they're only to replace what I dropped but greatly appreciated.

The former other half after she received surgery on some polyps inside her mouth, needing stitches and having her mouth held open by a nurse for 15 minutes. So we've been out this week a few times and when people look at her in a little shock she then mouths "him" and points at me, bloody women I've had a lot of dirty looks this week. 

Had a great Egyptian vs Hittites game at the weekend with the Rejects and will post a lot more pictures next week.

Blogging?

Yesterday got away from me, an area manager and a site manager down to visit site for seven and a half hours, tested my patience and small talk skills.

 I visited a blog that lost it's Google adsense recently and the owner said if it didn't come back the blog would no longer be posting because it wasn't worth it, I don't place any adds on my blog but that's just me, I don't have a problem with it on other blogs, I blog for enjoyment, relaxation and a mild form of anger therapy. This brings me to my point of blog following, I always comment on anybody who comments on my blog or visit them again if they haven't posted recently, I then visit my favourite blogs regardless of whether they visit me or not and then I hit my blogroll which is made up of over 300 favourites,visitors and commenter's blogs. And finally my point, please read or comment on peoples blogs if you follow them or try to read and follow more, I do and it's opened the world up to myself who hasn't seen a lot of it and even made a few new friends and that's saying something. Rant over.

Appreciate the 92 comments on my last post (3 or 4 where mine but damn!).

Blogger giving anybody else arseache, it wouldn't let me comment on blogs until recently and if it did it was with the blog title Bigmanfran, so if somebody with the handle Bigmanfran but with my ugly mush has commented it was me or if signed The Angry Lurker that was me, it seems to be sorted now but it's given me arseache as I have now given up on posting what I was meant to but that's maybe why I'm not called The Happy Lurker:P

45mm Painted Miniature Factory Figure: Uncle Meat or............

..........as I like to call him"The Angry Lurker".

While reading other wargaming blogs I have come across people using a figure to represent themselves or others on the table especially for skirmish gaming and basing batreps around themselves and others, I do this myself by making the player pick a figure to represent themselves (I find they treat the figure differently and play him differently aswell). As an umpire you don't always get to do this but I think I have found the figure that best represents me physically and mentally and he is a 45mm resin figure from the Miniature Factory http://www.miniaturefactory.net/ called Uncle Meat.

Now some of the followers of this blog who know me personally and have met me may agree that the model is quite a good likeness but may say  just not ugly enough are just gits (needed to get  that it in before they did).The head, juice bottle top and chainsaw come seperately but are an easy fit and the model is quite an easy paint, really happy with how he turned out (for my painting skill) and all I need to do now is find some chainsaw catalogues.
