The Rejects 15mm "Battle of the Boyne" Game at Broadside 2013.......

.......using Beneath the Lily Banner rules and Ray's obsession for historical accuracy!

Finally got to post pictures of the "Battle of the Boyne"demo game we put on for Broadside 2013, we had already tested the battle before and the historical outcome was not achieved with the Jacobites giving the Williamites a bit of a kicking but the result is always going to be inevitable with the forces the Williamites had on the day but even the second game at Broadside didn't go to plan with the Jacobites giving a good showing and upsetting their plans (because of the mistakes made in the first game and now rectified the Williamite forces were across the river quicker but still made mistakes and Ray had to stop Jacobite cavalry charging raw Williamite infantry to get a historical result!)

Demo games are hard to plan and play as it frustrates players and umpires.....and then the dice gods start to feck things up!

There was talk of re-fighting the battle at a later date and letting both sides play as the players wanted but the numbers are too one sided for the Jacobites but all in all a good day and a good game which I didn't get to play a lot of as there was a lot of talking to interested parties, fellow bloggers and the time flew by!

Broadside this year was excellent and very well run, plenty of traders and games, I didn't take as many pictures as I should of the other great games at the show but I do have some but other bloggers have done better and have already shown some but a show now permanently on the calendar for me now.

What follows are some pictures of our game, the lighting where we were was not great and picture taking became a right distraction but the figures and terrain were excellent, Ray when he posts will probably give you better information but as Richard did most of the umpiring I don;t know........

The stressed one........

Postie adding that little bit of wargaming magic........

A gathering of Rejects, Postie, Mark, Surjit, John, Richard, Lee, David and Ray.......

John telling himself "I need to win, I need to win".......

The famous Henry Hyde of Miniature Wargames magazine.......

Tamsin presenting Ray with his sandbagging figure, just look at that cheesy smile.......

You'll agree it's a stunning likeness............

The town of Oldbridge now in Williamite hands.....

When the masses of Williamite cavalry crossed the Boyne the game was called.......

.....some pictures from our original practise and playing of the game and you can see the differences that were made for Broadside!

15mm Painted GZG Civilian Mechas and Support Vehicles.....

.....and Broadside 2013 this Sunday with the Rejects!

These were purchased at Salute 2013 (first stop before they sold out) and are my contractor/civilian vehicles for scenery, maybe a scenario or two, terraforming etc.... and also as impromptu hardware for any rebel factions and uprisings!

They're lovely looking vehicles but were an absolute arseache (the Mechas) to put together, I like GZG especially their infantry but their vehicles sometimes do my fecking head in but I'm addicted and that's that and people will say if you don't like them don't buy them, that's true also but it's a limited market and it sometimes feels like your treated that way....as I said they're nice but some instructions now and again would be helpful, I built these with pictures I found on Dropship Horizon............

15mm GZG figure to show some size or scale.....

Hercules version B and C, power loader and site clearance Mechas......

Colonial Ranger and Rover.......

This was the two Mechas as purchased...........

.....but the end result is not too bad!

15mm "Battle of the Boyne" refight for Broadside 2013 teaser or changing history!

The Battle of the Boyne was fought in 1690 between two claimants of the Irish, Scottish and English thrones, the Catholic King James and the Protestant King William across the river Boyne near Drogheda in the Republic of Ireland (not called that back then) which is situated on the east coast of Ireland. The battle, won by William, was a turning point in James' unsuccessful attempt to regain the crown and ultimately helped ensure the continuation of Protestant ascendancy in Ireland!

The Rejects met up yesterday for a refight of this battle which will be our demonstration game at Broadside 2013 on the 9th of June, myself, Smithy and Surjit played the Catholic forces with Lee, John and Dave played William's forces, the game was umpired by Ray (whose figures we were using) and using Beneath the Lily Banner rules.

I won't go too much into the battle as Ray is being very secret squirrel and is only allowing one picture per Reject blog, the forces are accurate (2 to 1 in Williams favour) and the Catholics forces are meant to lose as history dictates but yesterday we gave history a kicking with the aid of some biased dice gods.

We surprised Ray, ourselves and the Williamite forces, ultimately we would lose but on our terms.........

The town of Oldbridge (scratchbulit by Ray) which no longer exists and on the day only lasted 20 minutes under Dutch Blue Guards assault but on our day lasted a lot longer! The Guards can be just seen advancing.............

To see more you will have to go to Broadside 2013 and to read more of the battle you can go here.

Alan has also set up a Facebook page about BROADSIDE 2013 so that interested parties can lend their support and be kept up-to-date with developments.

So lets go over to the page and Like just to show that we care...even if you don't but they're doing something that we still need and to show a middle finger to a hacking wanker git in Malaysia!

Will I make it to Broadside, I hope so but new work conditions and location may interfere but I'll try and at the very least do what I can to help them or others out......

On to some bitching.............this pretty much covers work bitching with still no official date of a site closure, starting to move our painting stuff home in case the new buyers turn up one night and padlock the gates and lock us out (could this happen I don't know?), the problems of their numbers and my numbers concerning my already small redundancy payment, no communication really from anybody, people lying their asses off and thinking of changing blog name to The Angrier Lurker........work bitching over!

Bitching about Ray and how he is disgusting and everything and how everything costs money (yes I know...but he's not in Michigan!)........

Bitching about the government and the economy!

......and of course Boobs (two of them well maybe not Postie........because of the nails!)

Sorry I couldn't help it but on Tuesday some of the Rejects headed down to Essex Miniatures because these two can't wait for anything and I was asked to tag along and bought nothing either (couldn't find anything I needed or wanted), so this is the Essex Miniatures showroom where I believe they have every miniature they make on display and nice people as well, a good heady mix of metal and dust, they're open to the public six days a week, if you're ever in the area and 15mm or 25mm metal addiction is your bag then drop into the Essex people, there's also a nice little cafe a few doors away where Postie bought us a fry up!

Suspicious looking boobs......

I was getting bored by this stage, they need some chairs, a TV and a PS3 for some people.......

He's very slow when he's spending a lot of money.......

Figures as far as the eye can see..........

Ray telling me politely to fuck off and not make a note of how much he spent which was actually more than Postie, I'm open to bribery though.........

.....and of course real boobs!

My visits to other blogs and my own are not as frequent as they should be but my mind is all over the place and starting to even affect my sleep and my normal stress relieving methods like PS3, food and Michigan are not working so bear with me if you can which I understand some won't or didn't as a follower left me today (not the first one either:D)........

Ranting, bitching and feeling sorry for myself over (I work with Ray) people......have a good one if you can!
