My Painted and Bodged WH40K Stormraven Gunship.

..........now painted and even more bodged gunship due to stupidity illness.

Finally painted the Games Workshop WH40K Stormraven Gunship that I bodged in a recent post http://theangrylurker.blogspot.com/2011/02/games-workshop-wh40k-stormraven-gunship_23.html but I then made a bit of a gaff and glued the radar/sensor array on backwards but only noticed this when I had undercoated and started putting on the first coat of paint while sitting in front of the TV, now normally the model would have ended up in the fecking telly but reason prevailed and because SWMBO would have tried to kill me as she was sitting near (and she was the voice of reason). So got a hacksaw and cut the fecking crap off the gunship but it was a bit of a disaster and I ended up having to bodge something else together but it doesn't look as good but that's what Bell's Palsy does (well I'm blaming that because it couldn't be anything else?).

So it's now painted up for my Neo US forces and I know it looks like a flying skip but I think it conveys FUBAR about to handed out.

(Fucked up beyond all recognition) it's what I also call my dog!

Original bodged unglued sensor array look.

After hacksawing and furious anger!!!!!!!

Replacement bodged sensor array.

It's a bit of an unstable beast on it's flying frame but it's a beauty.

Games Workshop WH40K Stormraven Gunship Bodging and Comparison Pictures

....bodging a sensor/targetting array to the gunship.

Finally made my Valentines day gift ( I like making kits), this one had a few areas where things didn't fit exactly as they shoud and required bodging (angry scratchbuilding) like cutting pieces to fit but maybe it was just me. I finished it after a couple of hours over a few days and I must say it's a lovely bit of kit and will fit in well with what I want it for but I have never gotten to grips with the top mounted firing point (it just looks out of place to me) so I decided I would change it by putting something else there, hence the bodging and I must admit I like it and I moved some guns to under the wings (madness I know).

The new piece is made from 2 sensor pieces from the company Old Crow Models, a GW piece that I have no idea what it's from (was in my bits box) and something from an office board (???) but it was in the bits box. I then did some size and comparison pictures for others who might like to own this model (in it's original state probably, hope it helps and bodging is king!

The piece replaced is seen here, the cockpit with the gatling guns.

Games Workshop WH40K Stormraven Gunship or how Valentines Day came early.

Being looking at this model on some other blogs and have seen a tutorial on how it goes together and been thinking about getting one, the one stumbling block being the price and justifying it to myself but that happens with other companies products aswell and not just limited to Games Workshop.

So out shopping with the other half the weekend just gone I picked her up a few things for Valentines day she wanted (which she is now wearing and eaten??????), she asked me what I wanted so I thought some money towards this Stormraven Gunship and hey presto I have a bright large shiny box.

The point I'm trying to make is that Games Workshop is expensive at times (some people will say all the time) but it makes a quality product and I will be using the gunship for somehing not Games Workshop WH40K related as I have done before and I have posted some pictues to show how I use them for other periods. The bottom line is if I can't afford it I won't get it or if I believe its essential I save for it, if you don't but a companies product then don't be surprised when they are no longer around.

I haven't opened the box yet as I'm trying to make a futile point to the other half as she munches her way through several packets of Hotel Chocolat product and says how comfortable her new footwear are..........and what is she really getting for Valentines Day?

The bright shiny box in my possession.

A finished Stormraven Gunship, mine will not be red or probably this well made.
