Merry Christmas/ Bah Humbug 2017 and an update!

A brief update from a muddy field in rural Ireland..........

Ray"The Orangutan" Rousell" reminded me that some people(maybe just one or two of you.......) were wondering what was happening blog wise?

Serious blog and life funk lately, still painting (15mm sci-fi/ Invasion Earth scenario with my modern stuff) but no wargaming or wargaming space (hopefully next year) at this time, no like minded loonies nearby either, piss poor internet, limited TV service has hit the mojo hard..........
Currently no job still apart from raising poultry, mud and really impressive weeds in our field in rural Tipperary with our mobile home.......

Hope to starting posting in the new year again, maybe even try the painting challenge next year with a build up of the lead pile.

One day we will finish our house and be less muddy but not today...........

You kind souls that read this have yourself a good new year if you can.......or want to!

Stay safe............

Update, Loyalty and Robin Hood

No update for a while have been on annual leave and turning 42, got a digital camera for my birthday so can give back the camera i have been using, got my Four A miniatures snow troopers, some copplestone predators and terminators.Nearly finished painting the terminators, starting the snow troopers for my neo sov siberian special forces.
Loyalty from figure companies is something my friends and I have discussed lately, my second order from Four A miniatures included a free figure(one that I can use aswell),hasslefree have loyalty points, sweets and extras and even Pig Iron sent extra when they screwed up but the likes of copplestone(does not respond to enquiries about products and has never offered any  individually generated extras for years of buying his products, foundry(offered discounts but did not work and took full amount without discount and was not changed even after ringing them and have never ordered again), there are others but thats not the point. Now why should they offer or even give extra its not compulsory, not economically viable(or is it?) but I believe it is good business sense because it prompts you to order again, recommend them to others and hopefully increase their business by buying more or choosing a period that they do that you had not planned to startWe are not looking for this all the time but now and again would be nice and I think it would increase sales but I understand margins are tight and some companies are a hobby more than a business(hasslefree have nearly gone bust in the past) and that in the end if you do want the figures you will buy them regardless and I believe thats how some companies think.
Finally I got to see the new Robin Hood with Russell Crowe and despite the historical saving private ryan scene(with what looked like landing craft painted brown) it was a 4 star romp with good action scenes and humour and I recommend it with the above comments.

Apologies

Apologies but should have some pics up this weekend and a review of some Pig Iron Miniatures armour, chaos at work with a TUPE takeover of the site by G4S and payday changes imminent and with at least 90% of normal people who live from wage to wage this could be a financial disaster but we try to muddle on and spare a thought for my other half who has had to put a horse down due to a gobshite who fed her something she could not digest and it got lodged behind her heart.

Painting for other people?

Spent my painting time over the weekend painting some 15mm napoleonic russian cavalry for a friend and will be for a little time longer as I am having difficulty painting them as the reference material is sparse and vague also the hating of 15mm figures is not helping as I now only paint 28mm for myself but the customer is nearly always right and I hope to finish them this week.
Watched the Sherlock Holmes TV series on BBC1 last night and really enjoyed it and look forward to the next two.

Wargaming?

I love nearly all aspects of wargaming and I am lucky enough through a circle of wargaming friends and enthusiasts in England and also in the Republic of Ireland that I have played most periods some I liked more than others but that is not the point it is about playing the periods and enjoying the hobby and do not mind what people say but sometimes its about the winning(if you are lucky enough) and the bragging that follows.I enjoy books on wargaming and war and war/historical movies like the post before with the clip from Waterloo they get the juices flowing and the interest peaked and get you motivated when you are in the painting or wargaming doldrums that most wargamers can suffer from time to time.
