‘Chants’ is Al-jiçç's fifth album and represents an aesthetic evolution of the band. It was composed and produced during the pandemic, with the musicians individually recording their parts.

The music started with six little themes composed on a electric piano, which served as a harmonic basis for the improvisations. These improvisations were edited and manipulated, with the mixing and post-production playing a fundamental role in the construction of the record.

Keeping the Mediterranean-inspired melodies as a brand, in 'Chants' these were fused in a universe influenced by Miles Davis' electric phase (in 'Route'), by Dub (in 'Zadar') or the more ambient electronics ( in 'Lost Sign').

This record represents a new direction for Al-Jiçç, using the melodic side as a starting point for more electronic and contemporary universes.

‘Chants’ é o quinto disco de Al-jiçç e representa uma evolução estética da banda. Foi composto e produzido durante a fase da pandemia, com os músicos a gravarem individualmente as suas partes.

A música partiu de seis temas compostos em piano, que serviram de base harmónica para as improvisações. Estas improvisações foram editadas e manipuladas, tendo a fase da mistura e pós-produção um papel fundamental na construção do disco.

Mantendo as melodias de inspiração Mediterrânica como marca, em ‘Chants’ estas foram fundidas num universo influenciado pela fase elétrica de Miles Davis com Teo Macero (em ‘Route’), pelo Dub Jamaicano ( em ‘Zadar’) ou a electrónica mais ambiental ( em ‘Lost Sign’).

Este disco representa uma nova fase de Al-Jiçç, utilizando o lado melódico como ponto de partida para universos mais electrónicos e contemporâneos.

This is a work about the inevitable acceptance of ephemerality, about the longing for something fleeting that we never fully experience. In one idea, Aires encapsulates the spirit of his new release in his own name “Daylight Fireworks” (ZABRA 013), an EP inspired by an image from which everything sprang: that of “the surprise and the fragility of something as improbable and ethereal as daylight fireworks. ” Almost as a continuous exercise from beginning to end, there are many small sound events that unfold along these four tracks, like small films or degraded postcards from which only fragments can be extracted. Assuming that is diffuse the line that separates the obsolescence of any recording media from the irreducible weaknesses of human memory, Aires always seems to prefer the elegy of what could have been than the absolute certainty of an exhaustive reconstruction. The titles indicate this imaginary, but it is the sound motifs that shape it, between seas of static, floods of bleeps, lost arpeggios, haunted vocal samples or latent percussions that are only in our head. For a moment, it comes to mind the witch house of Holy Other or Chuck Person, the Basinskian filters or the recompositions of Leyland Kirby. All distilled by an intimate vision that can now be crossed by anyone.

Good music is brought to the world through good vibes. Entropia EP comes from some of those good vibes for sure. Although the name of the record recalls to the scientific concept of disorder, the music says au-contraire and is full of yum.

Produced during some late bedroom nights 7 years ago the Budapest-based producer Iszlai presents us two hidden lost mixes of his finest productions - A side. Swamp | B side. Aurora

A very catchy dub in one side and a hopeful dark deep house on the other were the producer’s entry ticket for sure on our catalog.

Iszlai is a composer and sound designer. You can listen to his adventurous pairings of recorded samples with a plunderphonic aesthetics giving us the darker tone underlining this way his signature.

Iszlai’s Entropia EP is the 2nd release on our vinyl collection and comes in a heavy 7”- inch vinyl, polylined sleeved and as a black label record, limited to 20 copies.

For his third full-length release `70TU5', skilled Portuguese multi-instrumentalist Samuel Cadima creates an intoxicating fusion of unpredictable instrumental prog rock, krautrock haziness and floating electronic atmospheres. With a range of guitars, mandolin and keyboard effects, a mix of early Porcupine Tree/solo Steven Wilson works, the dreaminess of Agitation Free, the tender earthiness of Deuter, the eclectic crossover styles of Djam Karet, Mike Oldfield's fanciful touches and the strident momentum of Neu! slowly unfold (sometimes even in the space of one piece!).

Sublime mastering by Dirk Jan Müller of modern Krautrockers Electric Orange and his solo Cosmic Ground project help reveals `70TU5' as another superb effort that shows impeccable taste, subtlety and a richness of focused ideas, from a range of vintage and modern influences given a wildly original voice.

Wippy Bonstack takes cues from daring artists as varied as Mike Keneally, Gentle Giant, Frank Zappa, Cheer-Accident, Cardiacs and many more on his debut album, Dataland. Perhaps best known as drummer for the colorful prog outfit Sun Colored Chair and as the creator of the manic experimental project known as Wyxz, composer/multi-instrumentalist Ben Coniguliaro (billed as Wippy) has been hard at work for years amassing influences and ideas for his first solo work. The songs on Dataland vary from extremely complex and challenging compositions (even by progressive rock standards) to catchy and spirited melodic songwriting (even by pop standards), sometimes both colliding in the same piece.
