A new album titled Peter Maxwell Davies: Strathclyde Concerto No. 4 & Clarinet Quintet, featuring performances by Dimitri Ashkenazy, the Philharmonisches Orchester Hagen, Joseph Trafton, and the Brodsky Quartet, is scheduled for release on December 12, 2025.
The original works themselves were composed much earlier:
The Strathclyde Concerto No. 4 for Clarinet and Orchestra was composed in 1990 and first performed in November of that year.
Previous recordings of the concerto have been released, notably as part of a Naxos reissue in 2013 featuring the Scottish Chamber Orchestra conducted by the composer.
