Compartment Of Secret Forks - Buff Crested Bustard [2024]

YANDEX (320 Kbps)

Long ago, in the depths of a ramshackle hovel in Philadelphia’s fishiest smelling neighborhood, a mysterious person known only as Kickshaw commissioned Compartment of Secret Forks to record a free improvisation album. Unfortunately, the rather unsophisticated trio misinterpreted “free” to mean an album that cost $0, so they set out to craft a work that could be assigned no monetary value of any kind. Working tirelessly for what seemed like an eternity but was actually about two hours, the deeply untalented group created a musical tapestry unlike anything anyone has ever heard, or ever wanted to hear. They fused elements of jazz, rock, ambient, psychedelia, surf, swooshing sounds, bleeps, noises that sound like rotary telephones, and other superfluous avant-garde adornments intended to mask the trite warmed-over alt rock that lurked underneath. Upon hearing the finished tracks and viewing the hideous cover art, all involved solemnly swore that the album should never see the light of day. And it hasn’t. Until now, that is. Recently rediscovered by music impresario Oksel Hónalj, who heard the tracks and exclaimed “hallgathatatlan szemét,” this album is now available on Bandcamp, and maybe some other places. Who knows. Or cares. Priced at $0, but you might still want a refund.

David Dellacroce - Inessential Reflections [2023]

YANDEX (320 Kbps)

ESTE TRABALHO TEM O APOIO ELEMENTUS MUSICALIS

A minha review poderá ser vista neste link

I had originally intended for “Solo Guitar for Unheated Leftovers” — a five-minute track celebrating my indifference to food temperature and/or quality — to be my only recorded output on Bandcamp. I didn’t expect anyone to ever hear it, because my promotional strategy for music has usually been to release it, then mention it to absolutely no one. But a few people did listen, including the incomparable Lloyde Olonko, who advised me to “release more music.” Here in southeastern Pennsylvania, we know better than to argue with the man from “Telford!”, so “Relatively Unobjectionable Melodies” resulted from that conversation — an album of sparse unaccompanied guitar with intermittent atmospheric departures. Afterwards, I boxed up the ‘ol USB audio interface because one album of solo guitar is quite enough for one lifetime, right? Well, no, not according to Lloyde it isn’t. Thus, the inevitable follow-up “Inessential Reflections” is the continued sound of a guitar hobbyist having a whole lot of fun. Should you choose to listen to this, I hope the music conveys the joy of the process of creating it. What I’ve learned from many years of playing the guitar, is that the moments of buoyancy that uninhibited music creation can bring to otherwise challenging times are invaluable. So I enthusiastically suggest that if you own an instrument and you’re not currently recording music, then please plug in a USB microphone (or record directly into your phone for a nice low-budget vibe) and make some noise. That’s what I’ve done in anticipation of my next conversation with Lloyde — taken some preparatory measures and recorded more music. Like, a lot of it. As I sort through all of it, I’ll be releasing an album here every few months, and some tracks will be showing up a few other places as well. As always, I appreciate you wonderful people for listening.
