Guess what?

Another weekend hoves into view...

...and it would have been the peerless Betty White's birthday today! We miss her. But, this is no time to be sad, it's time to party! And...

...Thank Disco It's Friday!

A classic.

It's your outlook on life that counts

And so, with a heavy heart we bid a sad farewell to one of the greats, our Patron Saint Supreme, Miss Betty White...

Life will never be quite the same without her.

"Don't try to be young. Just open your mind. Stay interested in stuff. There are so many things I won't live long enough to find out about, but I'm still curious about them. You know people who are already saying, 'I'm going to be 30 - oh, what am I going to do?' Well, use that decade! Use them all!"

"Animal lover that I am, a cougar I am not. All my life, even as a kid, I have preferred men older than I am. Unfortunately, today I don't think there is anyone older than I am!"

"Let's say I meet someone I find attractive. I have to keep reminding myself of how old I am, because I don't feel like I'm that old. I fight the urge to flirt and try to shape up. No fool like an old fool."

"It's your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don't take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humour in our everyday lives. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver."

“My answer to anything under the sun, like ‘What have you not done in the business that you’ve always wanted to do?’ is ‘Robert Redford’.”

"I have a two-story house and a bad memory, so I'm up and down those stairs all the time. That's my exercise."

"I really don't care with whom you sleep. I just care what kind of a decent human being you are."

"My muffin hasn't had a cherry since 1939!"

"I just make it my business to get along with people so I can have fun. It's that simple."

"Why would I think of retiring? What would I do with myself?"

“I have no regrets at all. None. I consider myself to be the luckiest old broad on two feet.”

RIP, Betty Marion White Ludden (17th January 1922 - 31st December 2021)

They say you're as old as you feel...

It's "Betty White Day" again!

Our favourite role model and Patron Saint blows out [if she has the puff] 99 candles on her cake today.

Remarkably, she has chalked up 82 years on screen, and remains the holder in the Guinness Book of Records of the title “Longest TV Career for an Entertainer (Female)” in the world!

Let's hand over to the lady herself for some words of wisdom...

All hail, Betty Marion White Ludden (born 17th January 1922)!

It's your outlook on life that counts

Another day, another Patron Saint's birthday...

Yes, it's Betty White Day again! And it is a very special one indeed - the great lady is 95 years old today - so let's hope she is celebrating in style!

"I've enjoyed the opposite sex a lot. Always have. Always will."

"I may be a senior, but so what? I'm still hot."

"My muffin hasn't had a cherry since 1939!"

A cougar, I am not

"Animal lover that I am, a cougar I am not. All my life, even as a kid, I have preferred men older than I am. Unfortunately, today I don't think there is anyone older than I am!"

It's Betty White Day again!

She's 93 you know...

And she's still hot!

Facts:
  • She holds the Guinness World Record for Longest TV Career for an Entertainer (Female) - 74 years (and counting) in show business.
  • She was christened "Betty" specifically because her parents (of Danish, Greek, English, and Welsh descent) didn't like many of the nicknames derived from "Elizabeth."
  • She received her her first Emmy nomination in 1951 (for a show called Life With Elizabeth); since then she has been nominated 21 times (so far), winning five times - and her nomination in 2014 (for Betty White's Off Their Rockers) means she has the record for longest span between first and latest nomination.

Dreaming of a Betty White Xmas

As always!

Once again, she shows the young 'uns (in this case Miley-fucking-Cyrus) how it's done...

And here she is (once again) winning the "battle of the broads" with our darling Luciana:

Guess what?

It's here!

At last - the video for the long-promoted collaboration between Luciana and Betty White...

Hot, indeed!

Viva la Musica

It's time once more for a little update on the choons that have caught my attention of late!

And we open with what promises to be the next mega-smash across the world - the duet between the coolest of cool club girrrls Luciana (who I have featured here many times), and none other than the all-round-icon Miss Betty White!! I can't wait for the video, but here's the song...

It's not often that The Guardian becomes a source of inspiration in my eternal quest for new musical discoveries, but their recent feature on the exotically-named Zola Jesus and her forthcoming album Conatus certainly piqued my interest. And so it came to pass I discovered this slice of fabulosity - here's the magnificent Night from last year's Stridulum EP:

Next up, a rather classy little electro number by a fabulous band called Monarchy:

Moving up-tempo for a moment and towards club totty, here's one from DJ Tiesto (now confusingly calling himself Allure), with On The Wire, featuring the estimable - ahem - vocal talents of the rather cute Christian Burns:

And finally, this one I discovered courtesy of Gaydar Radio, and I was hooked straight away! Hilariously tongue-in-cheek, the latest from self-proclaimed "bad boys" LMFAO (incidentally the son and grandson of Motown record label founder Berry Gordy) has an equally sharp video - yes, boys and girls, I'm Sexy and I Know It:

As ever, enjoy!

Betty loves buns

It's another Betty White Day!

Miss White never fails to give us joy, even in a commercial for the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP)...

Eternal thanks to Marc over at Deep Dish blog for this one!

Thank heavens for Betty White!

Quoted in the media last week:
Betty White made her name back in the innocent days when TV stars knew their place. ‘We considered ourselves lucky to be on the box, never complained if a critic didn’t like us, dressed modestly and were always on our best behaviour in public,’ she recalls primly.

Now she’s 89, a big name for more than 40 years with The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Golden Girls and Malcolm In The Middle, and she doesn’t have much time for today’s celebrities.

The drinking, the misbehaving and the endless self-analysis...she can’t bear any of it. "They party too much, don’t learn their lines, are unprofessional and they grumble about everything. I think they are terribly ungrateful," says Betty, her eyes flashing.

While single, she still has an eye for the gentlemen. "Have I ever?" she giggles excitedly. "You never outgrow that! I am not one of those ladies who lunch with other ladies. I like guys best."
