• Bash is a conditional attack damage bonus and has the following properties:
  • The bonus attack damage is directly added to the wielder's attack damage, but is not visible in the HUD.
  • interacts with the following mechanics:
    • Lifesteal.
    • Damage Block sources.
    • Damage Barrier sources.
  • Does not interact with the following mechanics:
    • Percentage-based bonus attack damage.
    • Critical strike.
    • Cleave.

• Does not work against wards or buildings, but works against allied units.

• The proc chance is determined during the unit's attack point, and uses pseudo-random distribution ( +8.47% and P(12) = 100%).

  Fully stacks with Time Lock, Bash of the Deep and Greater Bash.

• The proccing attack first applies the debuff, then the damage.

• Adds an average of 25 and 10 physical attack damage to every attack for melee and ranged heroes respectively.

Average Bash Stats

• Since the Bash is a chance based ability, buying attack speed granting items increases the odds of a bash proccing. However, the effectiveness stops at a certain amount of attack speed due to the cooldown Bash has.
• The Bash goes through spell immunity. When not having other spell immunity piercing spells in the team, a Skull Basher is a great purchase as it can help greatly against heroes with spell immunity, especially those who get a Black King Bar in order to cancel their channeling spell.
• Despite having a much lower chance to proc for ranged heroes, it still has a decent chance. When coupled with high attack speed, a Skull Basher on ranged heroes can be very viable, especially for heroes who have attack speed boosting abilities like Focus Fire.

Trivia

• In DotA, this item is named Cranium Basher, which is a reference to a crossbow from Diablo II, the Cranium Basher.
  • During the early beta in Dota 2, it was named Cranium Basher as well, but was then changed to "Skull Crusher".
    • After some community feedback, it was then finally changed to Skull Basher.
