Toku Toku Japanese Restaurant @ Bukit Bintang, KL, Malaysia.

Was alone for lunch and been wanting to check out this place. Ordered the lunch saba set, not bad at all. Decent portions and love the varieties.

Food is good, place is a bit rustic/homely and I love it. A hidden gem indeed.

Touan Japanese Restaurant @ Isetan The Japan Store, KL, Malaysia.

Came here for lunch the other day. The menu is a bit extensive and a bit confusing, I just winged it.

A mate of mine ordered the lunch bento. Looks good and priced affordably. We also ordered a sashimi to share. Beautiful, excellent I should add.

I ordered the herring with the roe which was the specialty of the month. Good stuff.

Fukuya Restaurant @ KL, Malaysia.

They have good value lunch set here. Bout 40+ rgt, you can choose two mains, come with a rice, miso soup and the usual appetiser dessert stuff.

The choices are quite a lot, I opted for salmon sashimi and grilled saba. Honestly, if your hunting for a jap lunch in the city, food is good and value for money, you should try here. Plus the venue has ample parking and privacy. Too bad I heard they're shifting, which I hope still retains its values.

Sugisawa Japanese Restaurant @ Robertson Quay, Singapore.

Robertson Quay, one of my favourite place to have quiet drinks, good food and people watching. And for some quick bites Sugisawa is definitely one of them. Good food with affordable prices.

Sashimi salad, I'll normally have this, generous portions, just nice after happy hours for something light.

Tonight was a bit greedy, had a gindara teriyaki as well. Nicely done, sauce was not empowering, and the fish was done well, loved the skin.

My mate had a bento set, think it was the hamburg bento. As you can see portions are decent, well priced for a bento, and it tasted good. One of my favourite joints in Robertson Quay.

Izakaya Nijumaru @ Cuppage Plaza, Singapore.

Been having some cravings for japanese food, affordable ones that is. Decided to check out Izakaya Nijumaru at Cuppage Plaza.

Some warm sake to lighten up the palate (just an excuse to cure my hangover).

Moriawase sashimi for starters, honestly one of those comfort foods after a late nights out.

And for the main ordered a gindara set, grilled cod fish with teriyaki sauce, some greens for the colouring, a bowl of rice and miso soup. Food is decent, price wise very reasonable for the sets.

Taiwan Railway Bento @ Kallang Avenue, Singapore.

I haven't been to Taiwan yet, so I can't really compare the quality of the food. But when a colleague of mine suggested this for take away for lunch in the office, why not? I'm always gamed for new cuisine.

Real wooden bento box, honestly just by looking at it was appealing. They have two outlets one being in International Plaza and the second at CT hub at Kallang Avenue which my colleague did a take away.

Chicken cutlet bento rice set. The bento looked small before I opened it, but boy oh boy, the cutlet was humongous, comes with a bit of lap cheong(chinese sausages), half egg, gravy and some vegetables. Chicken cutlet was awesome, its damn good and the other thing I loved was the pickled vegetables. This bento was just right, they managed to captured all the taste in one small box.

Another side view of the bento. Although it looks small from the outside, it really stuffed me up.

Rakuzen Japanese Restaurant @ Plaza Damas @ Hartamas Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur

Good japanese food, value for money, consistent quality. i have to admit, Rakuzen has never let me down, well the outlet in Plaza Damas anyway. Can't really vouch for the other outlets as i haven't been.

the lunch menu, i took the sakura chirashidon zen (rm38, woah what a stealer)

the set, i swapped the chawan mushi for a salad instead, some small appetizer, sashimi on rice main (loads of fish on it) miso soup and dessert. It's damn worth it, and quality uncompromised.

Ryoshi Sushi Ikeikemaru @ Liang Court Singapore

Sashimi sushi pang, was in a hurry, odd hours and no queue, i'll go here for convenience. Been here a couple of times, was good. yes, Was good. i'm not sure what happened this round, the cuts were smaller, and a bit more expensive, or maybe i just chose the expensive stuff.

can't go wrong with salmon sashimi, wished were bigger cuts sigh.

salmon roe, i just love salmon roe, talk about oily goodness!

one thing good about this place, they're not shy about their sakes. i think this was 17++, they pour the whole shot glass, overflow the thing into the wooden box, so u'll get about roughly two to two and half glasses. i reckon its value for money, and its always good to wash down raw food with some good sake.
