Roti Canai Bukit Chagar @ Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia.

Did some googling and found this place not far from CIQ. Boy is this place packed, it took me 30 minutes just to queue for the roti canai.

And this was halfway queuing, guess a lot of people doing takeaways.

Ordered a roti canai telur, big portion. The sambal was a nice touch. Casual laid back atmosphere. I like the place, but next round definitely have to come earlier and beat the crowd.

Restoran Ah Koong @ Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Was introduced to this place by a friend of mine, seems they're quite famous. Fishball noodle with yong tau foo.

Now this place was packed on a Saturday lunch, be prepared to queue.

Ah delicious yong tau foo items, grab your pick, choose your noodles and broth or dry.

The crispy beancurd sheets was awesome.

Fish cake a must order.

The fishballs in clear broth. Was good stuff. Loved it.

I just had to order a dry koew teow mee drenched in soya sauce. Yums. Although a bit pricey, packed with people, it has a nice convenient setting and air conditioned.

Foon Yew Foon Zhong Curry Laksa @ Stulang Walk, JB, Johor, Malaysia.

After reading about this place in JohorKaki, I was compelled to check it out.

Oh man, heaven on earth, so many ytf to choose from!

I went a bit nuts wanting to try a bit of everything.

And the best part? They have dry soya sauce noodles!!! Opted for koew teow and mee, Nice!

Ytf was in another separate bowl topped up with curry. Good stuff, and the curry was not too overwhelming, I slurped the whole bowl with no jelak.

The sambal was another excellent killer. I love this place. Definitely would return back here soon.

Bubur Goh Sza Lang Restoran Taiwan S/B @ Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

So here I was having supper early in the morning after a long night out partying. Honestly I actually was looking forward to my hotel bed, but luckily I got kidnapped for supper. I reckon the pictures will suffice to show how good the food are.

Yes there was few of us that thought, there wasn't enough drinks from previous night.

The food was good, loved the dishes, porridge was plain simple, but the dishes they served here complement the porridge really well. The see ham/cockles was one of my favourite dish of the night plus the pomfret. A good supper place in the wee hours of morning.

D'Laksa @ KSL City, Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

So backtracking a bit, went to BKT for breakfast as per my previous post, and as I was walking in KSL City lower ground, there was this faint aroma, Asam Laksa! So I came back after a heavy meal at WW curry laksa, and tapaued one to satisfy my craving.

Looks, taste it's definitely there, but it was lacking a bit of oomph, a bit watery. I suspect as there was a bit of queue, the worker was rushing it, and they poured a new batch of broth to the boiler when it was my turn for takeaway. Damn it, bad luck, but I shall be back to test it out again. For now my craving is satisfied...

W. W. Laksa House @ Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

A friend of mine recommended we go here for lunch, and what a gem it was. One of those corner coffee shops that just sells a few items.

They sell a mean otah here too, so we ordered a few to line up our palates.

Curry laksa, tau pok, see ham, fish cakes just beautiful. Broth was creamy but not jelak, see ham was fresh, and the best part, the tau pok heavily drenched in the broth when you eat it. Good stuff.

My friend told me normally people will add the otah to the noodles. Kinda nice flavour otah with the curry laksa.

Restoran Soon Soon Heng Bah Kut Teh @ Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

If your around KSL mall, there's a few bkt shops. We took our chances and tried this joint instead.

As this was breakfast, I was still recovering from a heavy nights out. Luckily my friends did the ordering.

BKT was good, the broth was herbal, but not too thick, I sensed a bit of pepper as well. Just what I needed for a perk me up. Excellent place for a hearty breakfast.

It Roo Cafe @ Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The signs boasts The Best Chicken Chop in town for JB. I've passed by a few times and this round I managed to check it out.

They have two versions for the chicken chop, grilled or fried, I opted for the grilled one as it was recommended by the server, and boy was he right!

Portions are generous, the wedges was done nicely, crispy and the inside was moist. Loved the coleslaw, I'm such a sucker for coleslaw. The grilled chicken coupled with the black pepper sauce was good. It remind's me of the old school Hainanese style chicken chop minus the open air kopi shop style ambience. Good stuff.

Mee Rebus Stulang Laut @ JB, Malaysia.

Yeah, back in JB for a quick errand run, and managed to check the famous mee rebus at stulang laut. The place has changed name but luckily the mee rebus stall is the original one. There's actually a few stalls selling different stuff which I'll make it a point to try next time. I kinda like the atmosphere here, a bit laid back, no frills and overlooking the Tebrau Straits.

The infamous mee rebus, portion a bit small (but hey more of other nibbles I can try), the gravy is not thick, I normally get jelak easily. Love the crunchy bits on top. Not bad at all.

Some otah and pepes to share. My first time actually trying pepes, it's actually like an otah, but instead of seafood, they used chicken. Good stuff, I kinda loved the pepes more actually.

Bright red otah anyone? And if i'm not mistaken they have satar as well, definitely would be back to try those! A good place to chill out, local food, and have a decent conversation with friends, while watching the world passes by.

Restoran Yong Mui Beef Noodles @ Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

During my previous visit for the asam pedas at Jalan Lumba Kuda (asam pedas botak), after the lunch as we were walking back to the car, my grandaunt was like hey look at the signboard of this restaurant, a cow. Thanks to www.johorkaki.blogspot.sg, I was like hmmm I've seen this picture before, and truth behold it's the same shop/stall that was reviewed before on the blogspot. I had to run some errands in JB and as the place opened at 730am, was just nice for me to try it for breakfast.

Ordered a medium bowl of mixed beef (spare parts galore!), with white noodle, think it's called lai fun.  See the gravy, lovely.

Make sure you add the chilli. It's a bit different but same same with the Singapore style of beef noodles. The soup on the side was robust, chilli was excellent, and the cuts, loved the tendon. The ground nuts add an extra dimension, balancing the taste, ie chewy beefy suddenly crunchy. This dude is not shy on his portions, generous beef cuts, tender and lovely. Now I have two favourite places at this corner in JB, one being this and the latter the asam pedas.

ChaiWalla & Co @ Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Saturday night on Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, there's a night bazaar. Not bad, place was packed will all walks of people and window shopping through the numerous of stalls.

We saw this coffee joint and decided to check it out.

Quirky concept, they using two recycled shipping containers for their makeshift coffee stand.  Prices are decent(giving a run to those big coffee chains). I ordered a chai latte.

Not bad at all, I like it. Simple table and plastic stools, basking under lamp post lights with a group of friends chit chatting. I miss this kinda lepak (chilling out) atmosphere chit chatting with friends over teh tarik, but in this case, went up market a bit with a chai latte.

If your ever in this part of town, do stop by here, relax, have a coffee and just enjoy the view.

Restoran Sup Tulang ZZ @ Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Tulang sup (bone marrow soup) on its own is simply one of my favourite dish. Now add mee rebus coupled with the tulang, absolutely heaven on earth. This restaurant has perfected the recipe, I don't think so I've tasted something like this concoction anywhere else.

Black sambal (soya sauce chilli), totally awesome spicy as hell! Add this fiery sambal to add an extra kick to the mee rebus.

This is the laksa johor, quintessential dish you must have at least once if your in Johor. The Johor version is totally different from the other laksas, from the gravy/soup to the noodles. You can wiki for types of laksa, and I can honestly say, all the laksa version from Malaysia and Singapore I love. Each has their own styles, taste and merits. I have yet to try from other countries, soon on my bucket list:)

Mee rebus tulang, their star dish. It's good, ample amount of meat, soft, noodles is normal, gravy is excellent. Just add the black sambal for an extra fiery kick.

The straw is there for you to suck the bone marrow from the bones, yummy. Nice.

Ordered some fried beancurd to share, a bit oily but dipped it with the sambal belacan, good stuff. The restaurant ambience has a nice malay kampung style to it. Nice laid back setting while enjoying good food.
