Owac VIII_Sybou_Final Post

 Hello everyone,

here we are, ready for the final post. I'm glad I arrived alived at the end of this challenge.

Even if i wasn't bad in following my plan, I still left 6 riders undone.

Summer's month, june and july were too busy for me and I didn't touch my painting tools for 2 months.

Anyway, this challenge wasn't a total faillure as I succided in painting 80 miniatures!

It's me!

Here are a couple of photos of my borderprinces army:

The Baron's army still needs a lots of work to be done: bowmen, billmen, footknights, knights, spearmen, a giant, bears riders and ... The Baron himself.

If i'm making progress during autumn and winter, I could use Owac IX to finish this army.

Otherwise, depending of the thematics, I could do:

• Chaos dwarves,
• More Chaos guys,
• Genestealers cult,
• Dogs of War,
• Undeads. 

A lots of choices for my next quest :)

Sybou_Month 5_OWAC VIII_Ranks and files_Riders of the Myst ...[110 points]

 Hello everyone,

we can see that owac s end is near, everybody is tired, we all have difficulties to reach our goal.

For myself, I just reached the minimum limit of 5 riders for the month of may.

This is under my personnal objective where i intended to finish the whole unit. But hating painting riders, I just did 5.

Here they are:

Riders from Albion

Back in an old owac, i painted my army of Albion, I left behind 2 units of riders, one heavy and one light.

For the Baronny, I planned to paint a unit of 10 regular knights but these guys left behind made me feel guilty.

So here they are, added as mercenaries to fight for the Baron. They still need to gain much gold to pay their trip back to Albion.

The command group will be (normally) painted in the last month of june with the leader of the Army.

The miniatures are from Ral Partha fantasy army line, they are barbarian riders. I made 2 heads swap here in order to make them all different.

Shields come from Confrontation Sessairs clan and from Lucid Eye fantasy vikings.

I'm pretty happy with the final result. They will be cool with their mounted hero I did in the old owac.

Seeing them like this is giving me the necessary bump to finish the command group.

Pointwise, they count as Kislevite Druzhinas with shield and heavy armor:

So it will be 22 each of them so a total of 110 points for this month.

Sybou_Month 3_OWAC VIII_Rank & files_ Crossbowmen from the fur guild (190 points)

 Hello everyone,

I finished month 3 in extremis with my crossbowmen.

I'm glad they are finished but I don't have much infantry left to finish the challenge.

Led by a merchant specialized in fur trading and textile, he's a bit of a coward. When the Baron called to arms the different guilds, the textile guild answered with some crossbowmen.

He just wanted to stay behind and avoid the big fights.

He brought some tilean mercenaries and a couple of hunters in order to protect his interests.

The merchant boss

Here he's surrounded by a happy street performer who joined the company to bring music and monkey dancing. On the other side, the Bounty hunter with no name protects the back of the merchant as long as he s getting paid.

Perfect tileans dogs of war, the middle one went full Braganza's style. The gamekeeper is a specialized hunter using traps.

Hunters and soldiers challenged themselves in taking down the most ennemies in battle.

The classic mercenaries with crossbows. They're all pretty good soldiers with good equipments and weapons.

Pointwise:

18 men with a musician so it's 190 points.

That's it for the 3rd month, a bunch of shooters ready to march for the Baron (only when needed).

For my next month, i'll go for my wildcard month: 

Cannons and wizard.

Month 2 - Owac VIII - Sybou's baronny - rank & files

 Hello everyone,

February is a short month but I decided to go to the 2nd biggest unit, the scoundrels.

They have yellow and black clothes because they come from the Duchy of Keltalas. Years ago, the the Red Count, a ferocious vampire attacked the duchy and destroyed it. 

The Duke has been killed by the count himself and most of the people have been transformed in undeads. Some of them fleed toward the nearest cities and strongholds.

Sunny day!

Their leader is an agitator claiming that some of the land of the Baron must be given to the former inhabitants of the Duchy. He often claims being the new Duke because the former one was his father.

You can see him in the middle, on the left, there is his companion, a fake intelectual who show fake documents proving that some lands must be given to his friend.

The other are opportunists, thugs and dregs. Most of them are not from Keltalas, they're just here to recover money and goods.

More dramatis personae with the lady with the porcelain mask, she's leading a cult of the King in Yellow and gives bad information to the new "duke".

Knife users, thieves and other scoundrels belong to the band. You don't want to cross them in a dark alley.

Final members of the crew, a lots of clubs in order to calm down the robbed citizens ...

Here they are for a final picture. I tried to take photos outside to take advantage of the sun, the photos are not great, i should try something different next time.

It's an apostat des ténèbres from the Game Confrontation. It is really a slaanesh miniature and I hope that Laurent can find it some good uses in game.

Sybou month number 1_Border prince army_Ranks & files [279 pts]

 Hello everyone, happy new year!

I hope 2025 is starting well for all of you and that nobody will go in the field of bones.

My plan for making my big unit for january was a success, i can now present you a unit of billmen from the cartwright guild.

The carts and wheels builder is a pretty successful guild in the baronny, the inhospitalty of the area does not allow much crops and independance so trading is essential.

                        

The guild leader of the cartwrights became a successful merchant and gather some guards around him to protect his business.

The command group

He even bought his own pet bear and made it played the trumpet. In the center, a trained champion from the Empire commands the unit.

He must also be his bodyguard and his henchman. The young one carries the banner with some tools and a cartwheel. Above it we can see the black axe of the Baron.

Even if you're a successful merchant, you must still follow the lead of the local nobleman.

Finally the last one is the paymaster, when you control the work of some irregular troops like these billmen, everything must be write down: Who s sleeping during duty? Who fought well? Who hides himself during the last battle? ...

Indeed the troops hired by the merchant can be really different:

These guys are not too shabby

Everyone got shoes, the weapons are ok, we even have some armors and a shield.

Not bad ... not bad

Even more armors, some must be from the empire or bretonnia ... They can stand a fight.

Pretty solid bunch

Some pretty cool armors and weapons. Some of them lack shoes, ... weird but if they can still fight, that's good enough for the guild.

Ok ... that's passable ...

No armor, small spear ... some of them lack belts ... 

What the h***??

Ok! You guys are hiring everyone, right???

In the borderprinces, it's often hard to fight willing good men ready to fight for you so if you want a pretty solid stick you're good to go!

Next month, i'll go for the outlaws and brigands unit in order to change the clothes colors!

Owac VIII Intro post - Sybou's Baronny

 Hello everyone,

glad to be again a part of the Owac.

For these year 2025, i'm going to carry on the Baron's army.

Back in the days, i started it with mostly Foundry Miniatures and a green & white colors scheme ; i found lots of old empire and stuff to bulk the army and now it's time to make some good progress on the army.

The background of the army focuses on the Greyhald Baron who's an old prick. Only his powerful axe allowing him to survive his old years.

The baronny is located in the border princes where everyone can do what he wants if you have enough men and/ or money.

Here is the army:

We have:

• 24 billmen with a merchant
• 13 crossbowmen with a merchant
• 15 good to no good free companies
• 1 canon
• 1 hellfire canon
• 1 captain on steed
• 1 outcast wizard named "Tim"
• 10 riders from a strange misty land ready to work against money

The baron is not part of this batch but if I'm good enough maybe i could insert him there.

For my offering, I choose JB as we are in the same country and it will be easier to send him the miniature.

It s a confrontation miniature, really chaosy and the whip makes him a bit Slaanesh like.

Well, here we are. Close to the end of year.

Paul's Border Princes Wrap Up Post

Well, 2020 might have been a complete global disaster, but at least my Border Princes force turned out pretty much as I'd intended, although it has certainly grown from the original 1400 pt list in my Intro Post

I know we are supposed to impersonate Big Bad Brian, but I went more HG Wells on this one ;)

Here's the monthly run down.

Month One:

10 Human Archers -100 pts
10 Human Archers - 100 pts
9 Human Crossbowmen -90 pts

Total for the month = 290 pts

Month Two:

Halfling Hero (Light Armour, Pistol, Hand weapon) - 69 pts
Halfling Wizard - 56 pts
Halfling Halberdier Champion - 34 pts
Halfling Halberdier Musician - 13 pts
Halfling Hot-pot Catapult - 50 pts

Total for the month = 222 pts

Month Three:

Human Hero (Light Armour, Flail) - 68 pts
11 Human Halberdiers inc. Standard Bearer (Light Armour, Shields, Halberd) - 120 pts
Dwarf Hero (Light Armour, Sword, Pistol) - 110 pts
10 Dwarf Thunderers (Light Armour, Hand Weapon, Handgun) - 130 pts

Total for the month = 428 pts

Month Four:

Human Cannon and 3 crew - 100 pts
Dwarf Cannon and 3 crew -110 pts
Human Wizard - 56 pts

Total for the month = 266 pts

Months Five and Six:

26 Halfling Halberdiers (inc. Standard Bearer) - Light Armour, Halberds (6.5 pts each) = 175.5 pts
14 Mixed Race Greatswords - Light Armour, Two Handed Sword (9 pts each) = 126
Great Sword Champion (Light Armour, Two Handed Sword) =  34

10 x Halfling Goat Riders (proxy for Kislev Horse archers) - Shields, Bows, and Hand weapons (16 pts each) = 160 pts
5 x Knights Panther - Barded Steed, Heavy Armour,  Shield, Lance, Sword (39 pts each) = 195 pts
Army General - Barded Steed, Heavy Armour,  Shield, Sword = 108 pts

Total for the months = 798.5 pts 

Grand Total = 2004.5 pts

"What, no Ogres!?" I hear you cry... alas not, but they are definitely something to add in the future. However, I have made a start on a baggage train/civilan contingent with these halfling villagers and livestock I picked up from Foundry at BOYL last year (*sniffs* I'm sat here typing this on the weekend we should have been nerding it up in Newark :( )...

...with a view to fielding this guy! :D
