Joshua's I didn't believe them (270pts)

Rank & File #1

What have I done?!

It's not like I remember! Ah.... the joys of getting old.

Well, joining the OWAC is like being back in school and you have to just turn in whatever you were able to get done as the deadline closes in. I figured it would be back like when I could turn out an army in a week... forgetting that life happened.

But here we go anyway. Ay, Ay, Ay Oh!

The tip of the spear... or the edge of the axe if you will. The blackguard are on the march.

These pirates from the far north while dark of heart are still elves. I decided not to go the drow style route, instead trying to focus on shadows over bright colors. They still have the Naggaroth purple and gold but mixed in with some turquoise, teal(ish) and traditional elf flesh color.

Forming up... they seem to have forgotten to attach their banner.

But ready to fight they are. A 15 man strong unit with command they run at 270 points. With their wicked sharp axes they will slam into enemy lines and try to fell their foes before they can strike back.. because let's face it... they're still elves.

Who will join the battlefield next? There seems to be a slight rumbling and growling coming from behind the hills...

JoshD's followers of Khaine

Hi. My name's JoshD and this is my first OWAC and I'm full of nooby energy. I'll be bringing a force of Dark Elves. Acolytes of the bloodyhanded one.

It's been a long journey since I got that copy of Milton Bradley's Battle Masters in the early 90s.

Sitting on the floor pushing that awful colored plastic, hoping the cannon didn't blow up in my face or laughing gleefully as the ogre smashed through knights.

My first real army was the Undead, brought on by an initial purchase of the first box of plastic skeletons.

My friends and I had massive battles with rank after rank of troops with the greatest being Nagash vs a Verminlord at close to 4000 pts a side. As hobbies do, they got put to the side for a while and then eventually sold. 😢

But after several starts and stops I'm back again.

Today I'm bringing another army I wanted to collect back in the day (well we wanted them all didn't we), the Dark Elves of Naggaroth.

Here they are in all their chunky metal goodness.

A Dark Elf General on a Coldone 170

That has fallen out of his saddle.

A Sorcerer and A Master Sorcerer leading the 15 blackguard with full command 99+219+270

20 spearmen with full command  with assigned Bolt thrower 252+100

Behind generalisimo el caido

14 crossbow men  with assigned Bolt thrower 182+100

and 5 cold one knights with a champion 252

On the right, also drunkly out the saddle.

All for 1644, if I've done my math right... which is dubious. A touch over the 1000 recommended, but since this is the core of a new force I wanted to put together something I could actually field.

Also this is my first blog... ever... and I hope to make it a good one but you've been warned.

As my contribution to the Overlord I have dusted off my salamanders and pulled out a faithful sergeant that goes back far enough to be considered Oldhammer.

And finally... all praise the Overlord , for he is wise and just and praise be to the blessings he bestoweth.

Pink and Pretty....... Stoked I made It! (144 points)

My final entry for the month of June were these three minotaurs which came to a total of 48p each with double handed weapons.

I think the centre mino will be the champion for our games in future and Jesse is sending me another 4 to add to this unit so it will be a fear causing bunch of angry bulls when they are finished and bearing down on me lol

Total = 144pts

Joshua's Slaanesh Demonettes and Champions of Slaanesh (1000 points)

Been a bit hectic here in the Realms of Chaos that is effecting all of us around the world atm so please take care where ever you are situated and hobby on guys.

I'm still working so I don't have the luxury of painting at home all day which is a shame otherwise I would have got a lot more done this month, but happy with what I managed to get done in time.

4x Demonettes of Slaanesh 100p x 4 = 400p

4x Slaanesh Champions 150p x 4 = 600p

Total = 1000p

Joshua's A Thugs Life. (484 points)

Another month, and another horde of the oldies in their fishnet stockings and dyed hair. This unit kind of reminds me of seeing punks in the UK during the eighties on TV at the time.
The unit is very unique in that there are no duplicates as like the beastmen unit, and they are accompanied by a unit champion of Slaanesh and a wizard with faithful familiar.

Unit point break down is as follows:
17 x Thugs with musician and standard = 153p
Standard and musician = 18p
Champion = 73p
Level 20 Sorcerer + Soul Flayer = 240p

Total points for February = 484p

Killing it!

Next up are the chaos warriors.

Joshua's January Update#1: Slaanesh Beastmen Unit (437 points)

The end of the month is here, so here is the beastmen unit as promised.

20x beastmen with standard (273) and a Lvl 15 hero (164) = 437 points total.

I found the painting process creative as chaos gives me some freedom that other armies don't have in terms of colours and designs etc.

I used a white primer for the miniatures given that the pastels of their fur and clothing would be a factor to consider. I usually prime in dark grey and have only gone back to white as a primer recently and really have enjoyed the change. Painting the gold NMM using a simple sepia ink wash over the white gives an effective, yet convincing result I found.
The banner is a conversion from some plastic banners a very kind guy from France sent to me to help me out so a big shout out to Jean Fancois Delaive for his generous support as the banner makes the unit complete in my chaotic eyes.

In reflection, I wish I had painted some of the skins or furs in blacks to break up the blue/pink colours. But I still like how the unit looks overall. and I could have spent a lot more time pouring over the details and freehand and the shields, but time is my greatest enemy in life now and the lotto numbers turned up fruitless lol.

Now time to get the thugs out of the storage box and ranked up on the paint table to await their slaanesh transformation.
