Joshua's A Thugs Life. (484 points)

Another month, and another horde of the oldies in their fishnet stockings and dyed hair. This unit kind of reminds me of seeing punks in the UK during the eighties on TV at the time.
The unit is very unique in that there are no duplicates as like the beastmen unit, and they are accompanied by a unit champion of Slaanesh and a wizard with faithful familiar.

Unit point break down is as follows:
17 x Thugs with musician and standard = 153p
Standard and musician = 18p
Champion = 73p
Level 20 Sorcerer + Soul Flayer = 240p

Total points for February = 484p

Killing it!

Next up are the chaos warriors.

Qrab's Chaos: The Warband Wrap-up

After many months it's time for my final post for the inaugural Old World Army Challenge. Leading up to this, each month brought the dual pressure of painting the models and blogging about which actually served as inspiration for writing the blog. Whether it was reminiscing about the models selected for the month, my success (or failure) with painting those models, and/or plans for the following month, there was always something to say. Now that the challenge is over, I find myself somewhat at a loss for words. However, I suspect most folks don't care about my ramblings and would rather just see pictures of classic miniatures from the golden age of Citadel. So, let me start with a shot of the entire army painted for the challenge:

Arjen's Plaagrotter's warband is complete with Phlem and the Metal Heads.

The final push of this challenge, the mandatory part at least, is a unit of thugs with shields and a chaos warrior (total points: 200). I still have to decide whether I use my "mulligan-month" to do extra figures of clean up the units from the last 5 months.

Phlem the Chaos Warrior; as I was painting a unit with a lot of exposed flesh; why not paint this guys armor a nice flesh color? If it makes people slightly nauseous or uncomfortable looking at him then pappa Nurgle is happy. His sword is the infamous Puss-blade. He collected around him a unit of mostly deviant percussionists and axe shredders; the Metal heads.

Phlem, center front, his companions from L->R are; Pissboy, Arnie, Phlem, Obelix and Jack.

Anthony's Blue Serpent Clan archers (220 pts)

Members of the Blue Serpent Clan don't care how death is reaped in the name of their all-consuming deity. Northerners are known for their skill with bow and arrow as this is how they hunt both for food and for bounty. Indeed, one does not approach creatures of the Northern Wastes in close proximity unless one has a death wish; ranged shooting the best method of hunting them and staying alive. All Clan battle formations have some degree of ranged shooting. Each Clan division has its unique combination of snake venoms with which to poison their arrow tips. While Clan warriors kill in the name of the Blue Serpent god to pay their tribute, surely an agonizing and slow death by poisoning would provide a more worthy sacrifice!

Qrab's Chaos: Trolls, Thugs & Tragedy (197 pts)

It turns out February is not only the shortest month of the challenge, it's also turned out to be the cruelest month.

Readers might assume from the tone of the introductory sentence that what follows would be a mulligan post, but those readers would be wrong! While there may only be 28 days to work with this month, I was feeling good after December's output. So, rather than play it safe and paint five Marauders, I decided to to push myself and paint the larger group of models among those I had left. This meant 10 Thugs with long bows, a standard, and a musician (132 pts) as well as a single Troll (65 pts).

The Troll known as MM40/02 TR6

Arjen's Rudiger's Bastards and The Old Man (205pts)

Rudiger's Bastards:

14 Thugs with bows and a troll: 140+65=205 points (sorry for all the crappy pictures, I have only my cheap phone to work with)

The Bastards and the Old Man lurking in the back.

Clan of the Blue Serpent (Anthony B) (200pts)

Many turn to chaos as an easy road to power. Few travel along that road very far, for the perils of insanity, mutation or death in the name of their god often claim their lives before long. Meanwhile  the chaos gods laugh at the weakness of man and the inevitability of his demise. The Clan of the Blue Serpent hail from the depths of the Chaos Wastes. They are diverse in heritage, but are united by their worship of one of the lesser chaos deities - the Serpent god. Myth has it that the Great Blue Serpent has laid dormant beneath the surface of the earth since the beginning of time. It will only awaken when sufficient sacrifices have been made in the name of death and destruction, and at such a time it will engulf and consume the world in its entirety. The Clan members now number in their thousands, and have made it their life's sacred mission to slay in the name of their deity. There can be no greater glory than dying in the name of their almighty god before the world is consumed at the end of time.

Anthony's Minions of Chaos

Hi all, and thanks for taking an interest in my blog post. I am a 34 year-old Oldhammer enthusiast from central Pennsylvania, in the US. I have been obsessed with miniatures since the age of 7 in the early 1990s. My first encounter with Citadel miniatures occurred when I lived in Ilford (in Essex, in he UK) - I remember rummaging through an assorted box of blister packs in the local train/hobby shop and picking the ones that caught my eye, for further mental short-listing. I remember the shop employee shrugging his shoulders when I asked him what Games Workshop was. Being rushed by my mom who had errands to complete, I quickly paid for the blister pack and left. Through some research (no internet at the time!), I managed to find the closest official Games Workshop store and, more amazingly, drag my parents and younger brother there (albeit with a lot of complaining). For the Brits or ex-pats reading this, it was the Oxford Street store, located within "The Plaza" in Central London. The store is still there today, and I made a pilgrimage to pay homage to it a few years ago when I visited London, this time dragging my wife there with me instead.
