1/144 Beechcraft T-6A/B TEXAN II Trainer - Foxone

1/144 Beechcraft T-6A/B TEXAN II Trainer - Foxone
The lastest releases from Foxone are a flight of T-6A Texan II Trainers,  the main basic pilot trainer for the US, Beechcraft are keen to highlight the additional work they have put into this design in order to improve on the original PC-9 so much so they consider it a distinct aircraft in its own right.... T-6 is not a Pilatus PC-9   (PDF Link ) This aircraft is also used by a number of other air forces, so should present some opportunity for other schemes.

Further information on the Beechcraft T-6 Texan II here( wiki )

The Foxone kit is available in 3 differentkits, each with 2 or 3 set of decals for you to configure your chosen aircraft. As with most Foxone kits, some previous experience and skill is recommended.

Outside of Japan, these items are availble from Radjan's Foxone Page, or HLJ

1/144 McDonnell F-2H-2(N) US Navy - Miniwing

Link1/144 McDonnell F-2H-2(N) US Navy - Miniwing

Miniwing have released another new early series Jet the F2H-2 / F2H-2(N) Banshee,

The F2H-2 served during the Korean War with the U.S. Navy Task Force 77 and the Marine Corps. Pilots spoke of F2H as the "banjo".[15] Due to its good performance at high altitude, it initially proved its worth as an escort for long-range USAF bomber formations. As the war progressed, USN and USMC fighters were primarily assigned to ground attack missions, including close air support of ground troops and destruction of the North Korean army's supply lines The F2H-2N differed from the standard F2H-2 by having an 84 cm longer nose section housing an AN/APS-19 radar set. Only 14 F2H-2Ns were built, one (BuNo 123311) was later modified to serve as an aerodynamic prototype for the F2H-3 all-weather fighter version. (source: wiki)

This kit is nicely produced and has that Miniwing signature format and feel; with well defined panel lines and a pleasing visual form.

The main kit consists of a half dozen main components and a number of additional fine detailing parts. The canopy is the new style crystal clear resin/plastic(?) canopy.

An interesting option on this kit is the optional nose (some cutting required) to allow you to build the F2H-2 and F2H-2(N) configurations.

It has decals for two main US Navy Schemes

This would look nice along side the previously reviewed Miniwing Release, the F2H-3 Banshee

1/144 F2H-3 Banshee by Miniwing

1/144 McDonnell F2H-3 Banshee by Miniwing
Miniwing have released a new early series Jet the F2H-3 Banshee, first flying in 1947 it was introduced into service in 1948 before finally being retired from US Reserves in 1961.

The aircraft served with the US Army, Navy, Marines and the Royal Canadian Navy.

This kit is nicely produced and has that Miniwing signature format and feel; with well defined panel lines and a pleasing visual form. The main kit consists of a half dozen main components and a number of additional fine detailing parts. Interestingly the vac-form canopies have gone and they have been replaced by a clear resin/plastic(?) canopy. This will please the average modeler and frustrate the experienced modeller, but it is always hard to please everyone?

1/144 AEC Matador Lorry (Truck) - Panzerdepot

Panzer Depot have released a new item for Feburary, the British AEC Matador Lorry (not truck, these are British remember!) One of the stalwarts of British softskins http://www.aecmilitant.co.uk/

They were used by the British pretty much through out the war and in most theatres of operation, certainly used by the British Army and Royal Airforce and would be surprised if they were not used by the Royal Navye as well?

These should be a welcom addtion to war gamers order of battles and for dioramas alike.

Avalable : Now (via Panzerdepot eShop)
Price $13.80

"AEC matador tows 3.7 inch gun, Caen, 7 August 1944."
Interestingly is it my eyes, or is the AEC Matador in the picture towing a German 88mm !!!?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AEC_Matador

As for the "white star", I believe that post D-Day it was not unusual for British vehicles to be marked with a white star, or white star within a white circle to aid identification of Allied invasion forces to stop "friendly fire" or "Blue on Blue" incidents!
