1/144 Douglas C-133 + PGM-17 Thor - Roden

( This is a machine translation. Please allow for possible misinterpretations in the text. )

--The US military has recognized the importance of strategic transport aircraft from early on, and has been developing transport aircraft such as the Globemaster.
――In the 1950s, we requested Douglas to carry a larger transport aircraft.
――Development was promoted as a four-engine turboprop with high wings, low floor, and lamps, and in 1954, the first mass-produced aircraft flew for the first time without a prototype.
――In 1959, the B type, which had an extended fuselage and a rear cargo door that opened to the left and right, went into production.
――At that time, it was operated as the only aircraft in the US Air Force that could transport ballistic missiles, but all aircraft were retired in 1971 due to the inauguration of the C-5 Galaxy and aircraft fatigue.

* Figures and auxiliary vehicles are not included.

The PGM-17A Thor was the first operational ballistic missile of the U.S. Air Force (USAF). Named after the Norse god of thunder, it was deployed in the United Kingdom between 1959 and September 1963 as an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) with thermonuclear warheads. Thor was 65 feet (20 m) in height and 8 feet (2.4 m) in diameter.

No. 97 (Strategic Missile) Squadron RAF and 99th Munitions Maintenance Squadron (USAF) Operating Thor IRBM missiles for RAF Bomber Command.

1/144 DOUGLAS GAM-87 SKYBOLT MISSILE Conversions Set - AIM

1/144 DOUGLAS GAM-87 SKYBOLT MISSILE Conversions Set - AIM
The Douglas GAM-87 Skybolt (AGM-48 under the 1962 Tri-service system) was an air-launched ballistic missile (ALBM), equipped with a thermonuclear warhead, developed by the United States during the late 1950s. The UK joined the program in 1960, intending to use it on their V bomber force. A series of test failures and the development of submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) eventually led to its cancellation in December 1962.[1] The UK had decided to base its entire 1960s deterrent force on Skybolt, and its cancellation led to a major disagreement between the UK and US, known today as the "Skybolt Crisis". This was resolved during a series of meetings that led to the Royal Navy gaining the UGM-27 Polaris missile and construction of the Resolution-class submarines to launch them.  (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GAM-87_Skybolt)

Designed for use on Vulcan kits, could be used for B-52s??

The conversion set consists of:
                        - Two Douglas Skybolt missiles
                        - Two tailcones for the missiles
                        - Two pylons
                        - A set of waterslide decals.

1/144 Douglas F4D-1 SKYRAY (USN) - MINIWING

1/144 Douglas F4D-1 SKYRAY (USN) -  MINIWING

The Douglas F4D Skyray (later redesignated F-6 Skyray) was an American carrier-based supersonic fighter/interceptor built by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Although it was in service for a relatively short time and never entered combat, it was notable for being the first carrier-launched aircraft to hold the world's absolute speed record, at 752.943 mph,[1] and was the first United States Navy and United States Marine Corps fighter that could exceed Mach 1 in level flight.

The kit conforms to the Miniwing signature format and quality,  being cleanly cast and no air bubbles. The panel lines on fuselage are very finely cast has been the trend with more recent Miniwing releases, which should please many people.

There are two decal options are provided for aircraft serving :

  • VF-213 "Black Lions" - USS Lexington, 1958
  • VF(AW) - NAS North Island, 1958

There are drop tanks and bombs provided, in order to arm up your Skyray, and the is now the common option with Minwing kits to provide both a clear resin and a vac-form canopy - also, included is a set of vinyl masks for paining the canopy!

Available: October 2015
From: http://www.kits-shop.com/ or Usual Stockists

See Gallery: http://www.miniwing.cz/douglas-f4d-1-skyray.html

A version of this kit with US Marine Markings is also available.

1/144 Attacker Bomber Collection - F-Toys
A 'new' release from F-Toys, incorporating some WWII Japanese favourites with "new tooling" and strangely a  Korean War Era aircraft in US and French markings, resulting in a strange mix of aircraft.

Its not clear how this set is arrived at even by recent standards, why they didn't do a complete full house of Japanese items for the domestic market, or go for a more varied set of twin engined attacking aircraft/medium bombers we shall never know!?
