1/144 JU-52/3m "Operation Mercure" Crete, May 1941 - Hobby Master

1/144 JU-52/3m "Operation Mercur" Crete, May 1941 - Hobby Master
Hobby Master are extending their line of excellent Ju-52 with what looks to be a more usual but interesting paint scheme compared to many of the usual 'splinter' or 'winter' schemes we have seen from other producers.

This scheme is for a Ju-52 participating in Unternehmen Merkur (Operation Mercury) otherwise known as the Invasion or Battle of Crete.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Crete

1/144 Junkers Ju-52 & Photoetch Set - Eduard

1/144 Junkers Ju-52 'Airliner'  & Photoetch Set - Eduard
When announced a month or so back, it did seem a little curious, however here we have the first in a possible range of issues for 'Airliner' Variants of the venerable Ju-52.

Instruction sheet: http://www.eduard.com/store/out/media/4423.pdf

I think you all know about the Ju-52 so I won't dwell on that. However,  D-2527 was registered to Lufthansa and was a tribute to WWI Manfred Von Richtofen and was used as a one of the personal transports of another WWI Ace although known more notoriously with his role as head of the Luftwaffe - Hermann Goring.

Painting this properly could be a task and a half ( link )

To coincide with the release of this kit Eduard are also to release an eye watering and finger boggling inter photo etched set (to be available at additional cost) to fit out the interior of the kit.

Available: January 2013

I do hope that this does not mean that the 'military mould' has been converted to the 'Airliner mould'?

Not much information on this one yet either, but it is the first military JU-52 in the Hobby master Air Power Series.

If the B-24 and the Civil Ju-52s from Hobby Master are anything to go on this is going to be the best die-cast Ju-52 to-date!

JU 52/3M ge D-ALYL XI. Olympiade, Berlin 1936

Hobby Master 1/144 Air Power Series
HA9002
- JU 52/3M ge D-ALYL XI. Olympiade, Berlin 1936

The second aircraft in the new 1/144 Airpower Series by Hobby Master is another Ju/52, this time the 1936 Olympics version. (First Version was the HA9001 JU-52 'D-ABIK' )

double click these images for Super-HD images:
http://www.hobbymastercollector.com/HA9002.html

further details of the Ju-52 Range:
http://www.hobbymaster.com.hk/airpower_144_ju52.shtml

The close-ups on both show that HM have the surfaces properly corrugated, unlike the Atlas or Altaya examples, the passengers' windows are also transparencies, not the painted squares used to simulate glass on the other two.

The price being quoted by a number of US outlets and e-Bay sellers is around the mid-$40-dollar-mark, which is considerably more enticing than the original $US80 proposal.

If they start producing a) military Ju-52's, and b) other aircraft, then Hobby Master could be onto a winning series!?

Available: soon Price : tbc

Thanks to Smeg1959 for the heads-up and the text ;-)

1/144 Ju-52 "D-ABIK" Lufthansa 1936 - Hobby Master

Hobby Master Air Power Series
HA9001 1/144 Junkers Ju-52 Diecast Model Lufthansa, "Manfred von Richthofen", 1936

http://www.hobbymastercollector.com/HA9001.html

http://www.hobbymastercollector.com/news.html

http://www.hobbymaster.com.hk/

Hobby Master of Hong Kong are launching a new range of 1/144 Aircraft.
Initially the release appears to be a intersting Lufthansa passenger liner from 1936.
It is stated as "New Tooling" so it shouldnt be a reissue we have seen from someone else, the other interesting fact is that HM seen keen to reissue their models under a wide range of paint schemes.

The "1936 Olympics" version would have been another interesting schema, but I suppose the cost of the official olympics license would have been too exspensive?

However another 1/144 vendor has to be welcomed and hopefully this is the first of many.

I dont know a lot about Hobby Master items, information available on forums would indicate a high metal content, rubber wheels and padded/painted decals. Hopefully thie model will have a proper ribbed structure unlike the IXO.

The paint scheme does not look quite right, but typically when needed i cant find a decent 1936 image of this aircraft on google/bing!

Available: Some sites say December 2010/the HM Site says October 2010?
Cost: $50 USD?
