Gold with Gray Accents abstraction
18x12 acrylics on Canson 140 lb cold press paper done a few days ago for an online tutorial by Yvette St. Amant. In this exercise we were instructed to apply golden yellow paint thinly in layers then add gray. My gray hue was mixed as I did not have it. The third color was green. When dry we had to add black squiqqly calligraphy marks to one side and all sides were to be left fairly white of the paper. The next post will show its companion piece with colors reversed.

On the Edge of My Seat
6x4 alcohol inks on glossy photo paper done a couple days ago after making a
larger work using only dark blue and flamingo pink; that one was very
wet so I put the photo paper face down and did a pulled print so to
speak. To me it looked like a seated figure with right foot up in the
air...upper right is a cat tossing about. Since I just had to put my 18
year old studio kitty to sleep last week my world has been awry.

Red Power abstract
8x8 alcohol inks on white foamcore done yesterday, my take on lots of reds over a pink magenta background. Yellow, blue, and green were added also before the reds for an explosive hot abstract. It resembles a floral to some extent. This work is SOLD.

#InkTober day 30 ~ Garden Glory/alcohol inks
6x9 alcohol inks on freezer paper, shiny side, begun yesterday as a demo for Colorado City artists, then completed today in time to post for our almost last #InkTober effort. I began by dropping sapphire blue ink, then juniper green, follwerd by honeycomb then yellow. As colors mingled and formed their own abstract this one reminded me of a garden fading in the warm fall days. The substrate, or support, freezer paper will be archivally attached to watercolor paper with gel medium and a brayer. Only one more day of the month for #InkTober! The challenge has been fun and very informative as I was not using this medium last year during October.

Tiny Abstract
This tiny 3x3 abstract does resemble an aspen tree. I made lots of these using a multi-step process yesterday in Douglas Walton's class here in Big Spring, TX at the Heritage Museum.

Fish Demo from Old Dog Painting
BEFORE
This is the awful old dog of an acrylic abstract that has no rhyme nor reason to it. There are birds, frogs, a man's hand, a padlock, frog feet, and more jumbled lines and color that made no sense. I have hated it since it was painted in one of Doug Walton's classes here in Big Spring a few years ago. At the bottom of the pile where no one could see it is where it was. I decided to do something with this mess by choosing it for a workshop demo on how to rework a bad painting, morph it into a new more attractive work of art. After all, you have nothing to lose. It is 22x30 on Winsor Newton 140 lb watercolor paper, cold press. It was begun yesterday at the Palette Club class in Midland, TX.
