Across the Moors
6x6 watercolor in sketchbook 80 lb paper done last week, another imaginary abstract landscape; I was imagining how the moors might look if you were gazing across. A limited palette of Payne's gray, Perylene maroon, and quinacridone gold was used.

Frosted Farm

Old Stone Villa

Arctic Air
9x6 watercolor and white crayon quick demo done yesterday for our Monday class; no reference used, only placing crayon marks onto dry Grumbacher 140 lb cold press paper then adding paint. Some negative painting for a few trees and branches was added. Cool colors Prussian blue, mixed brown, cerulean blue were used.

Almost Over the Hill

Flash Waterfall

Brusho Sky with White Buildings
5x9 Brusho, watercolor, and white wax crayon on 140 lb Grumbacher cold press paper done last week, an imaginary summer landscape scene. The crayon was used as a resist on the buildings while Brusho wc crystals in ultramarine blue was used to paint the sky.

Old European Buildings
8.5x5.5 watercolor over ink line using STA 0.2 pen in Masters Touch sketchbook done over last weekend drawing event WetCanvas challenge online. First the town buildings were sketched in with the ink pen then color added to give it some life. Note the cobblestone street.

White Picket Fence Garden
9x12 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper done last week, an imaginary house and garden based on a piece I did in 2009 that is no longer available. Imagine the hydrangeas, cosmos, marigolds, etc. in bloom with summer shadows softly falling on the fence and house.

Sunflower House
6x6 watercolor and ink on Masters paper. I had previously
drawn this scene in my sketchbook but never did any more work on it.
The stylized look of the sunflowers or poppies gives the imaginary house
a fresh appeal. With high temps daily now we are all ready for
flowers, sunshine, and blue skies.

Border Town

Belize Umbrellas
15x11 watercolor on 140 lb cold press Saunders paper, with Daniel Smith
paints. Using a marketplace photo from our trip to Belize several years
ago, I painted this townscape rapidly using only bright colors at the
center of interest. The background was a wash of manganese blue except for the white of the paper showing. I like the open market vendors selling their wares.
