"YOU CANNOT KILL DAVID ARQUETTE" -- SUPER LTD Acquires North American Rights to David Darg and Price James’ Compelling and Buzzy SXSW Sensation

SUPER LTD Acquires North American Rights to David Darg and Price James’ Compelling and Buzzy SXSW Sensation

"YOU CANNOT KILL DAVID ARQUETTE"

Marks the First Documentary Film Acquired Out of the 2020 SXSW Film Festival

NEW YORK, NY | May 1, 2020 – SUPER LTD, the boutique division and incubator from NEON, announced today that they have acquired North American rights to David Darg and Price James’ wildly entertaining and poignant documentary, You Cannot Kill David Arquette, an official selection of the 2020 SXSW Film Festival.

Filmed over three years chronicling the grueling journey through Arquette’s life and wrestling, the film was one of the most buzzed-about titles to have its Austin premiere disrupted.  The film instead had its debut in early March at the Arquette’s California home a mere 24 hours after hearing about the SXSW cancellation, surrounded by friends, family and a homemade wrestling ring.

Following his infamous championship run as part of a marketing stunt for the film Ready to Rumble, David Arquette is widely known as the most hated man in pro-wrestling worldwide. Nearly 20 years after he "won" the initial title, through ups and downs in his career, with his family, and with his struggles with addiction, Arquette seeks redemption by returning to the ring for real this time. You Cannot Kill David Arquette features intimate footage of his journey, alongside interviews with sisters Patricia and Rosanna Arquette, Courteney Cox, and iconic pro wrestler, Ric Flair.

Directors David Darg and Price James commented, "We couldn't be more excited to have SUPER LTD as a partner for our film. They understand how to bring films to passionate audiences and there's no more passionate audiences than wrestling."

Executive Producer and star David Arquette remarked, "I set out to make this film to stand up for myself, to rewrite the ending to my story, and find a place where I could be proud of my time in the ring. We couldn't wish for a better company to share this love letter to the wrestling world."

You Cannot Kill David Arquette is directed by David Darg and Price James and produced by Christina McLarty Arquette, Bryn Mooser, David Darg, Ross Levine, Stacey Souther. The XTR and One Last Run production is executive produced by Franklin and Gabby McLarty, David Arquette, Justin Lacob, Kathryn Everett. The film is edited by Paul Rogers with a score by Matt Glass.

Jeff Deutchman negotiated the deal for SUPER LTD with Eric Sloss of Cinetic, on behalf of the filmmakers.  You Cannot Kill David Arquette will be released by SUPER LTD, with release plans to be announced at a later date.

NEON Acquires Worldwide Rights to Amy Seimetz’s SXSW Critical Sensation "SHE DIES TOMORROW"

NEON Acquires Worldwide Rights to Amy Seimetz’s SXSW Critical Sensation "SHE DIES TOMORROW"

NEW YORK, NY | March 25, 2020 – NEON announced today that they have acquired worldwide rights to Amy Seimetz’s apocalyptic existential thriller SHE DIES TOMORROW, an official selection of the 2020 SXSW Film Festival. Inadvertently prescient and blazingly original, the film was one of the most buzzed-about titles coming out of this year’s festival-that-never-was.

SHE DIES TOMORROW stars Seimetz’s frequent collaborator Kate Lyn Sheil (SUN DON’T SHINE) as Amy, a woman ravaged by the notion that she is going to die tomorrow which sends her down a dizzying emotional spiral. When Amy’s skeptical friend Jane (Jane Adams, HAPPINESS) discovers Amy’s feeling of imminent death to be contagious, they both begin bizarre journeys through what might be the last day of their lives. In equal measures a genre film, a dark comedy, and surrealist mind trip, SHE DIES TOMORROW defies definition and is the unique vision of Seimetz (SUN DON’T SHINE, “The Girlfriend Experience”).

SHE DIES TOMORROW had critics under its spell following screenings of the film, with Indiewire’s Eric Kohn noting that the film “combines classic David Cronenberg body horror and with the scathing surrealism of Luis Buñuel,” Screen Daily’s Tim Grierson calling the film “an enigmatic drama that flirts with psychological horror and absurdist comedy,” and RogerEbert.com’s Brian Tallerico praising the film as “brilliant, riveting,” among many other laudatory remarks from press.

NEON stated, “Amy Seimetz is a bold new voice and with the groundbreaking SHE DIES TOMORROW has easily created one of the most prescient films of the decade.  We’re thrilled to be able to bring this unique and incredible SXSW premiere to audiences all around the world.”

"I'm very proud to be joining the illustrious NEON family. Tom Quinn has impeccable taste and has also been at the forefront of innovative theatrical and digital distribution for many years. I look forward to collaborating with him and the entire NEON team on sharing SHE DIES TOMORROW with the world."

SHE DIES TOMORROW is Amy Seimetz' second feature film as a writer-director. SUN DON'T SHINE, her directorial debut, premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in 2012, and was nominated for two Gotham Awards. In 2015, Seimetz co-created and executive produced the critically acclaimed Starz series "The Girlfriend Experience." Among her other television work, Seimetz directed two episodes of the acclaimed FX series "Atlanta" in 2018.

SHE DIES TOMORROW is produced by Seimetz and Rustic Films’ trio David Lawson Jr., Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.  The film co-stars Kentucker Audley (SUN DON’T SHINE) and features cameo appearances by Chris Messina (ARGO), Katie Aselton (THE GIFT), Tunde Adebimpe (RACHEL GETTING MARRIED), Jennifer Kim (BLACK BEAR), Josh Lucas (FORD V FERRARI), Olivia Taylor Dudley (“The Magicians”), and Michelle Rodriguez (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS).

Jeff Deutchman negotiated the deal for NEON with XYZ Films’ Pip Ngo, on behalf of the filmmakers.  SHE DIES TOMORROW will be released by NEON, with release plans to be announced at a later date.

SABAN FILMS TAKES RICHARD BATES JR.’S HORROR THRILLER “TONE-DEAF”

Robert Patrick and Amanda Crew Starrer to Make World Premiere at SXSW

LOS ANGELES (March 1, 2019) – Saban Films announced today that they have acquired North American rights to Richard Bates Jr.’s horror thriller Tone-Deaf.  The film stars Robert Patrick (“Scorpion,” Terminator 2: Judgement Day) and Amanda Crew (“Silicon Valley,” Table 19), and is produced by Circle of Confusion’s Lawrence Mattis, Brad Mendelsohn and Matt Smith, and Best Medicine Productions’ Brion Hambel and Paul Jensen.  Tone-Deaf will make its World Premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival.

Tone-Deaf follows millennial Olive (Crew) who, after losing her job and imploding her latest dysfunctional relationship, leaves the city for a weekend of peace in the country, only to discover the shockingly dark underbelly of rural America.  She rents an eccentric, ornate country house from Harvey (Patrick), an old-fashioned widower who's struggling to hide his psychopathic tendencies. Soon two generations collide with terrifying results in this home invasion horror film that is also a darkly comedic critique of the bizarre cultural and political climate that currently exists.

Recent titles include James Marsh’s King of Thieves starring Michael Caine, Jim Broadbent, Tom Courtenay and Michael Gambon; the anthology Berlin, I Love You with Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley and Jim Sturgess; the Gerard Butler starrer The Vanishing; Alexandre Moors’ The Yellow Birds starring Tye Sheridan, Alden Ehrenreich, Toni Collette, Jason Patric, Jack Huston and Jennifer Aniston; Eshom and Ian Nelms’ lauded feature Small Town Crime starring John Hawkes and Octavia Spencer; and Ivan Kavanagh’s Never Grow Old starring John Cusack and Emile Hirsch.

ALEX GROSSMAN’S SXSW HIT ‘HICKEY’ GETS JANUARY LOS ANGELES THEATRICAL RELEASE

DVD/TVOD FOLLOWS ON JANUARY 10 FROM GRAVITAS VENTURES

Los Angeles, CA, December 5, 2016— Maxine Street LLC will release Alex Grossman’s teen workplace comedy HICKEY for an LA theatrical run on January 6th followed by a North American DVD/TVOD release from Gravitas Ventures on January 10th.

HICKEY is Grossman’s first feature film and stars Troy Doherty, Flavia Watson, Raychel Diane Weiner (TV’s FLESH AND BONE, BOSCH), Zedrick Restauro, and Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister Jr. (THE FIFTH ELEMENT). Grossman wrote and directed and Lije Sarki produced.

“Making this film and premiering it at SXSW made 2016 a great year for us.” said Grossman, “I’m excited to bring my first feature film to audiences across North America.”

Flavia Watson and Troy Doherty in HICKEY

HICKEY is a day in the life of math whiz and recent high school graduate Ryan Chess (Doherty) who has spent the entire summer dithering over his choice of colleges. On the one hand, he has a full ride to his dream school, MIT but he’s also hopelessly in love with co-worker Carly (Watson), whom he has never asked out. Staying home and attending UCLA would mean he gets to stay close to Carly, but if they’re not even a couple, is it worth it?

To add insult to injury, Cy’s regional manager (and all-around jerk) Brady Krane (Alex Ashbaugh) has ordered the branch to be closed immediately, giving the staff just one day to try and meet their monthly sales quota, setting off a barrage of last-ditch efforts by the colorful crew of Cy’s to save their jobs.

Will they make it? Will Ryan get the girl? “To get the girl he loves, he must save the store he hates.”
