Wattson is the most recent addition to the fun line of 6" Apex Legends figures from Jakks Pacific. I have never played this game, nor do I know much about it. But the action figures really appeal to me with their diverse designs and genre-mixing characters. Wattson is a technology-based character who is an expert in electricity. She seems to be wearing an insulated uniform with large conductors on her back. Her role in the game is largely to set up protective electrical perimeters as a defensive measure against your opponents. Jakks Pacific does a great job with human-scaled figures. The vast majority of their product seems to be for Super Mario Bros or Sonic the Hedgehog, so it's a treat to see them work on non-cartoony humans. The last line I remember them doing like this was for the World of Warcraft movie back in 2016. Wattson was released way back in March of 2023 with no word of new figures since. Apex Legends - LIFELINE!
I started this blog on Jan 19th 2012 and I was initially very excited about planning different themed groups of posts like I had seen on other blogs. My themes have gotten pretty obscure and specific in recent years (like a week of mermaid figures or bee-themed figures), but back in 2012 I had just picked up the first Walking Dead Michonne figure right at the beginning of February and my first theme became an impromptu celebration of Black History Month. I've tried to replicate that in subsequent years, but figures of black female characters can be pretty scarce. Plus it always seems weird to delay any reviews of new figures until February. So I've made it a habit to tag any of these posts with "BHM" so they can be searched and celebrated year-round, regardless of the month. Lucky for me though, I (unintentionally) have a backlog of quite a few diverse characters that I'm excited to post this month, so I get to relive my original journey into toy blogging. Apex Legends - LOBA!
Once again I have purchased a figure that I know nothing about, but love her design. Apex Legends is a battle royale video game introduced in 2019 where you form squads from existing characters and compete in both open world and arena battle. If builds off the popular Titanfall universe from 2014 so the game began with a built-in fanbase. From what I gather, Loba is a very popular character in the game. I've bet two young players in the last year who said Loba in their favorite character to play. She is known as a "Translocating Thief" meaning she can teleport short distances and is adept as stealing weapons and treasure. she also has the ability to see loot through walls. I personally and drawn to her for her costume. It is an interesting blend of saloon girl, ringmaster, and warrior. Her braided hair and facepaint adds a certain toughness to her overall look as well. Plus her name literally means She-Wolf which is awesome. The Apex line from Jakks continues to impress. Let's check out Loba below!

Apex Legends - VOIDWALKER WRAITH!
I feel like for years fans have been asking for Legends-scale figures for almost every property. Marvel Legends has set quite a high bar for quality and scale. So it's natural to want that same effort applied to other properties. And recently I looked around the toy aisles and realized this has happened. Star Wars Black Series, G.I.Joe Classified, and Transformers R.E.D. are some of the most difficult items to find in stock. And then there there's a video game properties following suit: Halo Infinite, Fortnite Legendary Series, and the most recent addition, Apex Legends. Apex Legends is a 2019 first-person shooter battle royale game and Wraith is one of the many playable characters (Legends) in it. She can control inter-dimensional rifts - whether small like dodging attacks or big like teleporting a whole squad. This is the same character as the first Wraith figure, but in her cool inter-dimensional Voidwalker suit. Her design reminds me of Starcom or the Rulons from Dino-Riders. I love it. Apex Legends - WRAITH!
It's amazing how all the random videogame toys these days are of such high quality. I remember when these would be cheap merchandising grabs and the figures would only ever caught my attention when they employed almost fascinatingly retro construction techniques. Not out of nostalgia, but out of speed and cost. But in the last decade, the quality is usually on par with Marvel Legends or DC Multiverse. This Wraith figure from the new Apex Legends line is a prime example. These characters look amazing, the packaging is crisp, and the product placement is ideal (right next to Marvel Legends in Walmart). Apex Legends is a 2019 first-person shooter battle royale game and Wraith is one of the many playable characters (Legends) in it. Her unique powers deal with controlling inter-dimensional rifts - whether small like dodging attacks or big like teleporting a whole squad. It's a shame she didn't come with any power effects, but she's a gorgeous figure either way. Let's check out Wraith below!
