This Titan Hero Series figure was the first toy I bought from the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness product line. I'm excited about all the various rumors connected to this movie. I imagine that exposing a variety of alternate universes is the perfect way to bring together the best characters and stories for future MCU films. My imagination is running wild, but I'll save speculation until May when it hits theatres. The Titan Hero Series is often the first movie product to hit the shelves, but usually only a couple characters from each movie are included, so I get pretty excited when a female character gets one of the slots. I'm thankful that Wanda's Multiverse look appears so similar to her WandaVision costume so we don't have to buy two. This is also the first time I noticed that Hasbro now uses the Photo Real face printing process on 12" figures. You can tell because all of Elizabeth Olsen's beauty marks are represented on this toy *a level of detail not usually seen in this line). Let's check her out below!

Marvel Select - SCARLET WITCH!
Marvel Select makes me really happy. In my collecting, I love focusing on a specific character in a specific costume and then collecting every piece of merchandise I can find. Everything from mini-busts to Heroclix (I'm selective with statues due to space reasons). In these mini-collections, Marvel Select fills an interesting role by providing a unique scale. Most DST figures are noticeably larger than Marvel Legends at around 7" tall and give me the height variety I want in my collection. The production level is much slower than other companies - There were only 8 females in the Select line in the past five years. Meanwhile Hasbro has had more than that since November. But every DST character released is definitely one I need for my collection (so far at least). I also love that I get to run to my comic shops on release dates to pick these up. I miss the days of DC Direct and Collectibles releasing to specialty shops. This Wanda is the first Select lady in more than two years, but she's a good one. Let's check her out below!

Marvel Legends - SCARLET WITCH!
I'll be the first to admit I was never very impressed with the MCU Scarlet Witch in the movies. She always seemed a little dull, plainclothed, and her powers and origins were muddy. And I wouldn't have cared if I didn't happen to be such a fan of Wanda. It seemed like a waste of a dynamic and interesting character. But then WandaVision came out and changed everything. Her costume (by the end of the series) was an awesome blend of comic and hollywood, her origins were expanded upon, her powers were highlighted in a grand scale, and overall she just became infinitely more interesting. And moreso, she instantly became a household name. My boring coworkers even know her! Then comes this Marvel Legends action figure perfectly representing this turning point in her popularity and all is complete. I honestly don't think I've seen a better movie figure. The paint, sculpt, and styling is perfection. Now I'm curious to see if the look will be altered for Dr. Strange. Let's check out Scarlet Witch below!

Marvel Toybox - SCARLET WITCH!
Of course the first WandaVision products on the shelves would be a Disney Store exclusive. This time last year I never would have predicted Wanda's popularity. As a comic reader, I've always knew she was an incredibly interesting and powerful character, but I also knew her MCU representation was just.. meek. Luckily WandaVision came out of nowhere and raised her profile in the biggest way. Now we can begin seeing a new female character integrated into all the random MCU merchandise. Up till now Black Widow and Captain Marvel have carried the weight of female representation, and I'm excited to get someone new in the mix. Especially with a character that's so costumed and toyetic. I was so relieved in the final episode when she finally donned a costume that was a creative mix of comic and MCU style. And predictably within a few days there was a slew of product reveals featuring the new design. Of course Disney had to have the first on the shelves. Let's check out Wanda below!

Marvel Legends - SCARLET WITCH!
I wasn't sure that I was going to like this updated Scarlet Witch figure. In the solicit images, it looked like her headsculpt was very different from existing Marvel Legends. It looks good, but almost as if they have a new sculpting team or maybe they're doing face scans of live (non-celebrity) models. If you compare her other comic-based Legends in the past five years, she just looks different. Also, her outfit looked metallic - which is a toy trend I really don't care for. But in actuality her outfit is a pearlescent plastic (like Moonstone) and her head looks so good that I don't care if she doesn't blend in. In fact, this figure reminds me so much of my favorite Wanda storylines from Young Avengers that it's reinvigorating my desire for updated figures from that team. Also, the fact that we got an updated figure within 4 years gives me hope that we might also get a redo of her sister Polaris (which I never thought was quite right). I'm not holding my breath, but I have a glimmer of hope now. Let's check out the new Wanda below!

Infinity War Basic - SCARLET WITCH!
This Scarlet Witch figure from the Avengers Infinity War Basic Series is one of the nicest budget figures I've ever purchased. Sure, the leg articulation is basically non-existent, but the overall sculpt and the upper-body poseability is terrific. The face paint in the Hasbro basic lines has been very inconsistent. I usually feel a desire to touch up a part of the face to augment to company's obvious cost-cutting methods. But this Scarlet Witch has a great paintjob. In comparison to the Gamora released in the same wave, Wanda has a perfect simple face (complete with irises!) I'm hoping we'll see a lot more basic figures in the future. I'm thinking Wasp, Captain Marvel, Nebula, and Mantis are the most likely next candidates, but only time will tell. The Shuri figure from Black Panther was a big surprise, so who knows what other unpredictable characters will be thrown into the mix. I only hope that they all share the Scarlet Witch's same balance of budget constraint and detail. Let's check out Wanda in detail below!

Marvel Legends Infinity War - SCARLET WITCH!
I swear I was going to be strong and skip this Scarlet Witch repaint. But just like the second version of Enchantress a few years ago, once I saw her in person my willpower faded and before I knew it I was standing in the checkout line. I figure there were two reasons behind my purchase. The first is that this is likely the last toy I will ever purchase at Toys R Us. I've been feeling very nostalgic and sad about all the closures so every little purchase now carries some weight. The second reason is that this is a really terrific repaint. The only real difference is the hair color and the facepaint, but it is a major improvement over the Civil War version from 2016. The heads seem to have identical sculpts, but it's really difficult to tell in person. (She also comes with different energy accessories). Wanda's role has escalated in each movie and in Avengers: Infinity War the trend continued and she had a lot of screentime. So I'm really glad she got a great redeco (even if I didn't realize she needed one). Let's check out Scarlet Witch below!

Infinity War Titan Hero Series - SCARLET WITCH!
Scarlet Witch is finally being given her due as a full-fledged Avenger. When the first Avengers movie came out back in 2012, I'll admit I was baffled by the fact that the token female hero was Black Widow instead of the Wasp or Scarlet Witch. Actually, her role did belong to the Wasp in early scripts... before Scarlett Johansson brought more name recognition to the Black Widow role in 2010's Iron Man II (fun fact: the Black Widow role was originally intended to be filled by Emily Blunt, who at the time wasn't quite a household name in the US yet). But once I saw Scarlett's performance in that first movie, I embraced the changed (although I still wanted Wanda). Four years later Elizabeth Olsen first showed up on screen as Scarlet Witch. In my opinion, her character's role back then was pretty insignificant, but it's been steadily increasing ever since. I'm assuming her role in Avengers: Infinity War is bigger than ever considering she's getting a Legends redeco, a Basic Series figure, and of course this Titan figure.

Civil War MiniVerse - SCARLET WITCH!
One of the things I'm looking to most from Toy Fair this year is news about more movie-related Mini-Verse figures from Hasbro. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Logan, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok in theatres this year, I think there's a really good chance we'll see some more 2.5" Marvel ladies. Nebula, Mantis, Hela, Enchantress, X-23, and a re-scaled Gamora are all on my wish list. This Civil War version of Scarlet Witch was completely unknown to me until I was hunting the Marvel Legends Wanda this past fall and came across a (highly overpriced) listing for it. This second wave of Civil War MiniVerse figures never really hit the stores as far as I know. She shows up on eBay often, but usually at double or triple what I wanted to pay. Then one fateful day in December this I stopped into a Rite-Aid and found her on the pegs. These figures are simple, tiny, 5 point-of-articulation, overlookable toys, but I love them. Marvel Legends Civil War - SCARLET WITCH!
I'm really glad Hasbro waited until Captain America: Civil War to give us a Marvel Legends Scarlet Witch. Her outfit isn't drastically changed in concept, but the longer waistcoat and leather pants looks a thousand times better than the Avengers: Age of Ultron jacket, skirt, and thigh-high look. This version is much more "costumey" while still consisting of relatively standard civilian clothes. An Age of Ultron version would look more like a Gilmore Girl than a superhero. This action figure is stunning. Although I love the Scarlet Witch in comics, I thought her presence in the movies has been a bit forgettable. And the costume was pretty unexciting. I was really planning to pass on this figure, especially when she became so notoriously difficult to find in stores, but then I randomly saw her at a Barnes & Noble a couple weeks ago and was very impressed by her. The sculpt and paint is perfect. Hasbro has been really great at nailing actor likenesses recently. Let's check out Scarlet Witch below!

Marvel Dorbz - SCARLET WITCH!
Scarlet Witch is one of those characters that I always overlooked in my youth, but that I really love as an adult. I was never a reader of Avengers in the 80s and 90s, but X-men (and Batman) were my jam. I was peripherally aware of Wanda and Pietro as the mutant kids of Magneto in those other books. But I just didn't have the energy to investigate them. I also couldn't stand her outfit. Pink and Red just did not work well together in my young fashion-confused mind. But then sometime in my 20s I realized that I loved monochromatic color schemes and I read House of M and Children's Crusade and realized that Scarlet Witch was an all-around kick-ass character. I think the rest of the world has taken notice, too, because she's received a decent amount of merchandising in the past 10 years. And her role in the Avengers movie franchise has only increased her plastic presence. These Dorbz have really won me over. I only have seven so far, but I see a lot more in my future. Age of Ultron (Miniature) SCARLET WITCH!
I have a recently rekindled love for 2.5" scale action figures. I've been Googling all these great long-forgotten (for me anyway) eighties toy properties since I posted on Gamora a few weeks ago. I now have a lot of tiny eBay packages due on my doorstep, and I've been obsessively hunting for this Scarlet Witch figure. I finally found her at Target this week. That find has been kind of bittersweet though. While I'm ecstatic to have another tiny lady in my collection (she makes 8!), I was pretty bummed that she was so out-of-scale with the Guardians of the Galaxy figures. I was imagining a whole line of Marvel heroines; one per movie.. Black Widow, Wasp, Sif, Captain Marvel. It was a pretty potent fantasy. But unfortunately the first two offerings are out of sync. It doesn't mean I don't still love this perfect little toy, but I'm just disappointed that Hasbro didn't have the foresight to tie their lines (and their future lines) together. I'll be okay though. Avengers: Age of Ultron -SCARLET WITCH!
I just saw the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie last night. I was really lazy about getting to the theatres to see it because sequels always disappoint me, and Ultron was never a particularly thrilling villain for me. Plus I'm a Scarlet Witch fan and the character designs I was seeing for her were just boring. But after seeing it, I can say I was judging everything too harshly. The movie was great and Wanda's character was handled really well. Her non-distinct European accent and crimson power flares will remind you so much of Melisandre from Game of Thrones. Not to mention that the actresses totally look related. Her powers and origins differed from the comics as I expected, but none of it bothered me. The Quicksilver discrepancies between this film and Days of Future Past were much more bothersome. I believe this figure is the first basic wave Marvel female we've seen. It's amazing that it's Scarlet Witch and not Black Widow or Gamora. Let's check out this movie version Wanda below!

Marvel Legends - SCARLET WITCH!
The Scarlet Witch has been through some amazing transformations in the past decade. She is one of those characters with phenomenal powers that are criminally underutilized in the comics (like most of the female mutants). Wanda Maximoff can change reality on a whim. This power seems frightening and unstable honestly. But her storylines didn't focus on that until the fateful House of M storyline in 2005. Ever since then she has been awarded the proper sense of awe and caution she deserves. Her role in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron film will likely elevate her even further. She's finally living up to the Maximoff name. This figure is one of the most desperately needed re-dos in the Marvel Legends line. Her 2005 figure from the Legendary Riders line is bafflingly bad. This new figure has some definite flaws, but it is a long-awaited and major improvement. Wanda shares the "Maidens of Might" slot in this wave with Captain Marvel. Marvel Universe SCARLET WITCH!
I never would have guessed that that little Wanda Maximoff would become the major player in modern comics that she has become. In my comic book history, she has always been a B-List, or even C-List, mutant.. relegated to West Coast Avengers storylines and pretty much off my radar. It wasn't until Oliver Coipel's work on Avengers began that I noticed her potential as the powerhouse she has become. Within a few years, the House of M storyline unfolded and she truly cemented herself in Marvel history. I must say that I absolutley love how she is a major catalyst behind one of my favorite superhero team books of all time, the Young Avengers. Another fantastic thing about her is that her original costume is still so relevant and appealing. Wanda Maximoff is the mutant daughter of Magneto and twin sister of the speedster Quicksilver. While she hasn't always been A-list, she has definitely always been present. Her representation in plastic has beena little sluggish over the years but is definitely picking up steam. This newest figure is arguably the best so far. On to the review!
