It's amazing that after years of the Four Horsemen's Figura Obscura exclusive figure releases, 2024 brought us not only the first female figure, but the first two. The Bastet figure in May was a very welcome surprise. But to then get a second female in The Ghost of Christmas Past a few months later was icing on the cake. After the Jacob Marley figure in 2023, I figured all the A Christmas Carol spirits would eventually be made, but the speed and execution was still unexpected. I especially enjoy the Four Horsemen's macabre interpretation of the Ghost, taking inspiration from The Weeping Woman and various White Lady folklore. I always felt that the Ghost of Christmas Past was the creepiest of the A Christmas Carol spirits, despite often being represented as simply angelic, so giving her some darker visages and an otherworldly second set of arms is a welcome redesign. I don't like my figures to be overly gory or scary and tend to gravitate toward vampy and creepy - so this figure seems custom-catered to me.

Sonic Easter Series - AMY ROSE!
I think we can officially call the Holiday releases of the Jakks Pacific Sonic the Hedgehog figures a trend now. A surprise Christmas assortment showed up at Target back in December and sent me on a wild hunt for weeks until I found the sole female character, Classic Amy Rose in a red and white deco. There had been Advent Calendars released in 2022 and 2023 from Jakks that featured these figures (notable because some characters have unique accessories, like Tails' reindeer antlers), but these single-pack releases sported different decos. Soon after there were leaked listings of an Easter assortment, and I was excited as the prospect of this being a new seasonal trend to look forward to. This Easter deco of Amy Rose is easily the least "Eastery" of the group. The maroon and pink combo looks good, but doesn't make me think about Easter or Spring at all. I expected her to be decked out in pastels with an Easter egg deco or something. Let's check out Amy below. Happy Easter to those who celebrate it!

Nightmare Before Christmas - MRS. CLAUS!
The Nightmare Before Christmas toylines are always pretty amazing. All the characters have great designs and are naturally very toyetic. But what is especially great is how both the older Neca line and the current Diamond Select line don't shy away from obscure characters. This Mrs. Claus, for instance, only appears in the background of one scene for a few seconds. Most toy lines would never consider a character like this for the full action figure treatment. But here she is, in all her weird Burton-esque glory. I actually own quite a few Nightmare Before Christmas figures, but this is the first one I have opened and photographed for a review. This is mostly because I always intend to save them for Halloween each year, but then my Septembers and Octobers get insanely busy and I never have time. But hopefully this review will break the seal and I'll finally review the rest soon (their large boxes take up a lot of real estate in my closet!) Plus I'm excited to put them on display. Sonic Holiday Series - AMY ROSE!
Merry Christmas Eve! I'm staying at a friend's house and today I got a cold so I've been isolating and napping all day (covid negative luckily). Now everyone is in bed and I'm bored and sleepless so I'll be posting a few Christmas-themed items I prepared earlier this month. The Jakks Sonic line has been super prolific this year. Prior to 2023, I had thirteen (female) Sonic figures in my collection. But 2023 added NINE more (and I'm still hunting one additional figure). One of my favorite surprises was this series of Holiday releases I found on an endcap in the Target Seasonal section. They are all repaints of the figures released in last year's Sonic Advent Calendar. But in Amy's case, her advent figure was just the standard Classic Amy with no "holiday" alteration at all. So this simple repaint is very cute and stands as a nice apology. Plus, in researching this figure I learned that there will also be an Easter assortment including Amy. Roblox - VIE BATTLE WITCH!
Merry Christmas! I feel like I am often left out of the fun holiday toy trends. This year my friends are going bonkers for the Holiday Storm Troopers and constantly sending me pics of their cool displays. But I find female holiday figures can be pretty rare (and often cheesy). So imagine my surprise to find one of the weirdest and coolest seasonal action figures I've ever seen right before the holiday. Vie Battle Witch is in the newest wave from the Roblox Imagination Collection (realistically-proportioned figures apparently designed by players using the library of virtual add-ons in the Roblox system). Vie wears a shocking giant deer skull headdress with festive holiday details. I love skulls. I don't find them creepy or dark, but rather like interesting curiosities. But I must admit I love how the antlers and holiday details give a krampus-like vibe. The overall look is intended to be creepy, and I can totally see that, but I just think she's adorable. Plus the title of "Battle Witch" is just damn cool. Let's check out Vie below!

Amanda Conner - HOLIDAY HARLEY QUINN!
Merry Christmas in July! When I was in college 17 years ago (God that makes me feel old), I was taking some extra Summer classes and signed up for a day trip to the beach one July day. None of my friends could join so I went alone on the bus. I promptly fell asleep on the beach (as I'm prone to do) and was awakened hours later by a raucous scene. Parked ten feet in front of me on the sand was a pickup truck full of lifeguards in red swimsuits, sunglasses, with Santa hats and beards. They all had brass instruments and were trumpeting Christmas carols. Then another scantily-clad Santa approached and gave me a candy cane. They soon went on their way and I was left bewildered on a mostly empty beach thinking I had hallucinated. It wasn't until later that evening back on campus when I heard about this crazy thing called Christmas in July. It was quite a dramatic way to learn of the holiday. I was planning on holding off on this Harley post until December, but luckily I remembered good ol' July 25th!

The Tick - CAPTAIN LIBERTY!
Happy Independence Day! I always try to find a patriotic figure to review on this day and this Captain Liberty is one I've been dying to get to for years. I never watched the live-action Tick television series (nor the animated one), but I've always thought this figure was gorgeous. I know fans of the show weren't too pleased with the actor likenesses in this series, but since I don't have any personal fanboy criteria to demand, I can honestly say that this sculpt is wonderful in its own right. I agree it looks nothing like actress Liz Vassey, but the statuesque patriotic figure looks great anyway (in my humble opinion). I like this sculpt so much that I've been googling for days trying to figure out who the artist was behind it. No luck on that front though. N2Toys is best known for their Matrix and Babylon5 action figures, but they had several other interesting product lines for the brief years they were in existence (1999-2001?) before reforming into Mirage Toys (Alias and South Park). Tetsuwan Tantei Robotack - MIMEENA!
I was trying to think a good Easter review when I remembered this goofy little beauty. Toei's Metal Heroes Series ran from 1982 through 1998 with a variety of (mostly) kid-oriented television programs. The most popular ones for US audiences were VR Troopers from 1994 and the Big Bad Beetleborgs from 1996. The Robotack series is the newest, but never made it to US Television. Tetsuwan Tantei Robotack is a sequel series to B-Robo Kabutack (from which I reviewed Tentorina last year) and was the 17th and final installement of the Metal Heroes Series. Mimeena is a bunny-themed robot who is in love with Kamerock, a turtle-themed robot and one of the two main characters. Their relationship is a Tortoise and Hare motif. Bandai released these figures in 1998 in Japan so they can be a bit diffiuclt to find in other countries. But if you can hunt them down, they make great quirky additions to any fembot collection. Three Mini LADY LIBERTIES!
Happy Independence Day! I'm typing this far in advance because I will be celebrating the 4th high in the mountains with no cell phone reception and (most likely) no internet. It will be nice to get away for a few days, but I've been planning to review these fabulous green ladies for months now and no mere holiday excursion will deter me now. The Statue of Liberty is such a unique and timeless symbol. Her image is so pervasive sometimes that it takes some little plastic toys like these to make me notice how cool she is. The pale green of oxidized copper, the stern gaze, the Roman garb - everything about her is interesting. I'm frankly shocked their aren't more figures of her. Sure, you can find PVC figurines of every Looney Tunes character in the world dressed in the the green sash and spiked crown, but solid green, non-costumey representations like these are very rare. Now I just need a Funko POP, a mini Mez-Itz, and a Kubrick (and the POTA set piece doesn't count). Let's check these ladies out below!

The Tick's AMERICAN MAID!
Happy Memorial Day! I had a whole list of patriotic characters to potentially review today, but American Maid was the winner. The Tick: The Animated Series introduced the mainstream world to a wonderfully wacky world filled with puns and absurd heroes. In reading the wikipedia page right now, I learned that The Tick was created as a comic store newsletter mascot in 1986. New England Comics, the store chain he was created for, soon began publishing The Tick in his own comics and a legend was born. A lot of the characters were parodies of popular Marvel and DC characters. American Maid was no exception and is considered a blended parody of Captain America and Wonder Woman. She was a reluctant ally of The Tick and initially preferred to fight crime alone -- with her weaponized high heels and tiara! Plus she loved disguising herself to infiltrate the bad guys. All-in-All, she was an amazing heroine. Bandai's representation of her is pretty much perfect, too. Let's check her out below!

Originally shown as a prototype at the 2010 San Diego ComicCon and then not seen since, we will finally get this great ornament for the upcoming holiday season. Hallmark was pretty forthcoming about why she never appeared in the 2011 catalog; they weren't aware of Catwoman's role in the Dark Knight Rises film and decided to delay her a year to take advantage of her predictable popularity in 2012. This is going to be an absolutley crazy year for Catwoman merchandise, but I'm already excited to add her to my tree this Christmas and my small collection of heroine ornaments. I did some research and learned that most Keepsake ornaments show up in Hallmark stores in July, with the remainder appearing in October. Retail price will be $14.95. I'll post a review as soon as I nab her! Meowwww!
