Bluey - YOUNG CHILLI (as SHE-RA?)!

Bluey - Single-Pack Action Figures - Young Chilli with Sword - Moose Toys 2026

Bluey is an extremely popular Australian children's show that ran from 2018 through 2023. It's technically only on hiatus while a movie is in production and will likely return with more full seasons. I've watched quite a few episodes while babysitting and it is a fantastic show. If you ever had a great teacher in your life who could explain heavy concepts to young children without being patronizing or annoying - this show gives that same vibe. It's charming and comforting. I think that kids will learn a lot by watching it, and adults will learn new communication skills from the delivery presented in the show. I'm a fan. There is a Season 3 episode called Fairytale where the sisters Bluey and Bingo are being told a story by their father Bandit about when he met their mother Chilli. The setting of that story is a 1980's Halloween and and 8-year-old Chilli (dressed in a She-Ra homage costume) runs up to a young starstruck bandit to return his hat. It was a great flashback. And now it's a great toy! Let's check out Chilli below!

The Creature Cases - KIT & CUBBY!

The Creature Cases - Action Agents Adventure Crew - PMI Kids World 2026

I can't visit a toy store without checking out what's going on in the preschool aisles. I very rarely buy any of the toys, but I like seeing how the preschool toy industry is growing and adapting. A few months ago I noticed these Creature Cases figures from PMI based on the Netflix show featuring young anthropomorphic animal agents solving animal-related mysteries in an educational format. It's the kind of show I would have loved as a kid. However, what made the adult me purchase this set was the fact that one of the two main characters, Kit Casey, is a Kit Fox - and I'm obsessed with anthropomorphic foxes or any vulpine-themed characters. If fact, when I bought this, I had just won an eBay auction for one of my holy grail fox characters (arriving in the mail tomorrow hopefully and review coming soon). So I was on a bit of a fox kick when I saw this set again and Target and took the plunge. The addition of the female dog character, Cubby, was a bonus. Let's check out the Creature Cases below!

Yo Gabba Gabba - FOOFA!

Yo Gabba Gabbaland! - Articulated Figures - Foofa - Jazwares Toys 2026

I walked into FiveBelow last week and was overjoyed to find this small articulated Foofa figure. Believe it or not, I've wanted to add this character to my collection for almost two decades, but was unable to find a toy that wasn't plush or a simple PVC figurine. I love flower-themed characters, weird preschool properties, and I was obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba! in my early thirties. If you're unaware, this show was bizarrely cool. It was created by musicians... specifically alt rock indy/punk band members who wanted a better show for their kids. Kidrobot designed the character models and awesome bands regularly appeared doing original kid's songs in their unique styles. The characters even went to Coachella 15 years ago when it was still cool. My favorite band appearances/songs were The Faint, The Killers, and The Shins (Youtube them!). The show was just fun. Foofa is the token girl of the five main characters. She is a pink "flower bubble" and I always loved her design. Let's check her out below!

Superthings - NEBULAXIA!

Superthings: Rivals of Kaboom - Evolution - Nebulaxia (GITD) - MagicBox 2023

When I travel to other countries, I love to hunt down toys I've never seen or heard of here in the United States. Last year I was in England for a week and annoyed my travelling companions by stopping by every toy and candy shop we passed. I only found a single solitary "unknown to me" toyline the entire time though. Superthings is a kid-focused franchise featuring toys, merchandise, and a cartoon with a ton of fun vibrantly-colored characters. I believe the toyline was first and spawned the rest of the franchise. Googling now, I can see a handful of cool female characters (my favorite is Sourbette). But when I was there, the only lady I could find was Nebulaxia, a space-y adventurer with a UFO-shaped helmet, a cool space blasters, and a sidekick (Star Explorer) that looks like Saturn with wheels. Plus she glows in the dark, which is my favorite gimmick in all of toydom. I was very happy to find a figure so weird and quirky. Plus she could easily fit in my luggage. Let's check out Nebulaxia below!

Transformers Rescue Bots - ELITA-1!

Transformers: Rescue Bots - Classic Heroes Team - Elita-1 - Hasbro 2025

Several years ago the popular Transformers: Rescue Bots preschool toyline had a spinoff line featuring additional classic characters like Starscream and Mirage. This line was called the Classic Heroes Team and had packaging graphics that occasionally featured Arcee (you can spy her on the back of this figure, too). Ever since first seeing this illustration, I was obsessed with getting a classic Transformers fembot in this blocky preschool format. Well, it took three years but we finally got one. Of course, it's Elita-1 and not Arcee, and it's just a simple repaint of Bumblebee, but I still think she's really fun. It's easily the most feminine of the modern Rescue Bot sculpts, and her bold pink paintjob certainly adds a lot of bright color to the existing female lineup of Quickshadow and Whirl. I hope we'll eventually get the teased Arcee and maybe some others, but realistically they'd probably just be repaints of this same figure. Let's check out the Classic Heroes Team Elita-1 in detail below!

Imaginext - HAWKGIRL!

Imaginext DC Super Friends -  Superman & the Justice Gang - Mattel 2025

When all the Superman Movie (2025) product started rolling out last month, the last thing I expected was an almost complete heroes set from Imaginext. The only thing that would surprise me more is a follow-up set with Metamorpho, Lex Luthor, Engineer, and Robot-4. Hawkgirl is the character I'm most looking forward to in the movie. I really dig her cinematic costume design and I'm a fan of Isabela Merced. While her character is seemingly omitted from the main McFarlane DC Multiverse movie assortment so far, she's received two scales of Spinmaster action figures and this unexpected Fisher-Price Imaginext figure so far (She will also have an "Ultra Rare" Funko Pop released on July 11th). I would also love to see her in the new Spinmaster 3" scale that seemingly includes every character except Hawkgirl. Imaginext has always been amazingly inclusive with its character selection and they didn't disappoint with this multipack. It's an incredible toyline. Let's check out Hawkgirl below!

Iron Man and His Awesome Friends - IRONHEART!

Iron Man & His Awesome Friends - Armored-Up Avengers Pack - Hasbro 2025

Back in October I came across a press release about a new Disney Jr Marvel series titled Iron Man and His Awesome Friends. Based on the marketing of the similar Spidey and His Amazing Friends, I was instantly excited about the potential for this exact toy I now hold. Ironheart has been an obsession of mine for quite a few years now. I was a little late to the party, picking up my first issue around 2018 (a couple years after her debut). But I was instantly hooked and quickly read all her previous stories. Then the world took notice and she appeared on the big screen in Wakanda Forever (2022) which leads to her upcoming solo series on Disney+.  Having her appear in the Disney Jr Spidey universe is a no-brainer. She has already starred in several Marvel Rising storylines, but these preschool-aimed cartoons have a proven track record and a huge audience. As of this post, the release date of this new series is still a vague "Summer 2025", but I'll keep checking for updates. Let's check out Ironheart below!

Petronix Defenders - EMMA & KITT-10!

Petronix Defenders - Emma's Pet Mobile and Kitt-10 - Giochi Preziosi 2022

Petronix Defenders is a French animated series from 2022 featuring four friends with technologically advanced backpacks that can transform into robotic pets. They go on adventures helping various animals with heavy-handed educational lessons throughout. The token female of the group is Emma (sometimes known as Bridgette, depending on your location). I had noticed this toy for several years on European toysites, but just picked her up while travelling abroad this past Summer. I love cat-themed characters and I'm always fascinated by the token female heroes in preschool properties, but buying this figure was a no-brainer. Luckily, she is significantly more interesting in person than in her solicit photos. Most of the images I was seeing online didn't ever have her pigtails showing (as seen on the cardback). She has a simple design with a minimal color palette, so little details like that make a huge difference. She makes a fun new addition to my preschool shelf. Let's check out Emma below!

Spidey and His Amazing Friends - GHOSTASAURUS!

Spidey and His Amazing Friends -  Ghostasaurus & Spidey - Hasbro 2024

In the August 2024 episode of Spidey and His Amazing Friends titled "Go Dino-Webs Go!", the main three heroes, Spidey (Peter), Ghost-Spider (Gwen), and Spin (Miles) are given Dino-Web suits by their new shape-changing friend, Reptil. These suits each have green crystal spider logos on the chest, and when the heroes press that crystal they can transform into a dinosaur. Spidey becomes a T-Rex, Spin becomes a Stegosaurus, and Ghost-Spider becomes this awesome Pterodactyl. This is all done to combat the Green Goblin who is terrorizing the countryside in a giant mechanical Tyrannosaurus Rex. I really dig anthropomorphic dino characters in general, but when I saw this Ghostasaurus figure, she reminded me of the female Archaeopteryx Teryx from Dino-Saucers with her color scheme and wings (a sentiment I also had for Gormiti's Jessica). But this toy is very cool in its own right. Spider-Gwen's costume design would look awesome on anything though. Let's check out Ghostasaurus below!

GoGo Dino - VIKI MECHA!

GoGo Dino - Transforming Super Viki to Water Raptor Warrior - LDCX 2024

GoGo Dino is a long-running South Korean animated preschool show that first aired in 2016. The character designs look similar to Super Wings, another South Korean import, but instead of aircraft, they are all cutesy robot dinosaurs (see the box side below). I regularly dive into Korean pop culture to check out the toys, so I've been aware of the property for almost ten years, but I wasn't interested until I saw this new toyline. The newest iteration of the show has the five main robo-dinos transform into cool humanoid mecha. Two things to know: the popularity of this show apparently exploded in China and production of the shows seems to have moved there. The show logo on the packaging translates to "Bang Bang Dragon Adventure Pioneer 2", but who knows what the title will be when it is finally adapted for English audiences. The mecha each has an additional elemental theme, so Viki is a Brachiosaurus as well as "Water" alongside teammates Thunder, Hurricane, Fire, etc. Let's check out Viki below!

Imaginext - POISON IVY!

Imaginext - DC Super Friends - Rivals Pack - Poison Ivy - Fisher-Price 2024

Poison Ivy has been having a bit of a renaissance in the comics recently. Her ongoing solo title is up to issue #26 already and is developing her character in new and interesting ways. The art by Marcio Takara is amazing and the first story arc is reminiscent to The Last of Us, which is gloriously dark. I've even been hearing comic shop chatter about Ivy being in the next Batman film. To be clear, people are wishing for her to be the next film villain. And I would love that too. Similar to Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy is another character that is often sanitized for young audiences. It's easy to reimagine her as a mild troublemaker snaring her foes with vines and pollen rather than a ruthless eco-terrorist leaving a trail of bodies in her wake. But at least Poison Ivy's slightly wicked persona stays pretty consistent regardless of the target audience. This Imaginext figure represents Ivy in the newest DC Girls launch. Time will tell if this is simply a Fisher-Price theme or a wider multi-media push. Let's check out Ivy below!

Imaginext - HARLEY QUINN!

Imaginext - DC Super Friends - Rivals Pack - Harley Quinn - Fisher-Price 2024

I always find it exciting when a character who is known for being villainously deranged, or violent, or any type of kid-unfriendly attribute gets marketed to children. I remember years ago seeing a Lobo Imaginext in the store and sending a pic to my friends.  We were incredulous that this was a preschool toy. Even recently I saw the Suicide Squad Little People set from Fisher-Price featuring four murderers and the label "Suicide" on the packaging (Yes, I'm aware that this set is marketed to collectors, but it's still jarring). Over the years, Harley has been sanitized to just be a little zany and irrational. Sometimes (annoyingly) she's written as being dim-witted and clueless. But I will always look at her and see the twisted psychopathic psychologist I fell in love with 25 years ago (I was a little late to the Harley party and didn't become a fan until her first solo comic series). This new Imaginext figure continues the cute-washed trend that makes her insanely popular across the generations, but belies the villainy beneath.

Imaginext - WONDER WOMAN!

Imaginext - DC Super Friends - Rivals Pack - Wonder Woman - Fisher-Price 2024

Every few years, DC revamps their effort to merchandise the collective "DC Girls" theme. The first notable time was 2012's Super Best Friends Forever animated shorts.  But the first significant girl-centric campaign came with the launch of DC Super Hero Girls in 2016. There were action figures, dolls, Legos, cartoons, comics, etc. To me, this was a genius move for DC/WB to mimic the success of Disney Princesses. And it was successful.. until it faded away (as all kid-focused properties do), but was rebooted in 2019 with new designs. There is also a current line of DC Girls Action Dolls and miniatures from Jakks Pacific following the same trend. But his newest Imaginext line is still a bit of a mystery. The characters are stylized and the playsets have had a unique matching color palette. There are animated toy shorts on YouTube, but whether or not it is tied something bigger (or just a self-contained Imaginext theme) has yet to be seen. In any case, I'm all-in. Let's check out Wonder Woman below!

Imaginext - BUMBLEBEE!

Imaginext - DC Super Friends - Rivals Pack - Bumblebee - Fisher-Price 2024

When I think of criminally underused DC characters, Bumblebee always hits pretty high on that list. Karen Beecher first became Bumblebee in the 1977 issue of Teen Titans #45 and is considered the first Black female (costumed) hero in DC Comics (Nubia appeared three years earlier but wasn't considered a traditional costumed hero, and Vixen wasn't introduced until 1981). Bumblebee's powers and overall concept weren't groundbreaking. She was essentially DC's version of Marvel's Wasp (who has been around for 15 years already). But something about her design, personality, and role in the Teen Titans lineup was much more appealing to me. She has been a regular team character in several comic series over the years, but she never hit the spotlight. Her animated presence has had a lot more momentum. Since the first Teen Titans animated series in 2003, she has been regularly included in Titans or various DC Girls media, Bombshells, etc. - with a decent amount of cartoony merch to support it.

Imaginext - SUPERGIRL!

Imaginext - DC Super Friends - Batgirl Hero Hideout - Fisher-Price/Mattel 2024

I'm excited that Supergirl has become such a household name in the last 10 years. Between her solo live-action Supergirl TV show (on CBS then CW) and her role in DC Super Hero Girls franchise, she suddenly became a staple character in DC merchandising after decades of neglect. Sure, she had toys on the shelf before this, but her first true action figure was only made in 1998 (exactly 40 years after she was introduced). So despite her presence in the comics and supporting roles in cartoons, the general public didn't know anything about her. But all that has changed now. And once her solo film comes out in a few years, her high position in pop culture will be even more solidified (assuming it's good). This Supergirl figure from the new girl-centric DC Super Friends Imaginext line is one of my favorites of the first wave. She is sporting a super classic costume and a mischievous smirk. This character is not often portrayed as funny or wise-cracking, but this makes me think she should be. Let's check her out below!

Imaginext - BATGIRL!

Imaginext - DC Super Friends - Batgirl Hero Hideout - Fisher-Price/Mattel 2024

The new girl-centric line of DC Super Friends Imaginext toys has started off with a bang. In the first wave of releases we've already seen seven key characters represented in a fresh new style, a colorful palette, and supported by a series of animated shorts from DC Kids on YouTube. The style of these figures is reminiscent of the Teen Titans Go Imaginext line that was released 7-10 years ago featuring larger, more animated heads and slimmer limbs. I think I will always prefer the traditional Imaginext proportions, but this new series has grown on me fast. Batgirl seems to be the primary protagonist of this group. She seemingly owns the heroes' base of operations (the "Batgirl Hero Hideout") and she seems to be the focal point of most of the animated shorts. And that's impressive considering she is joined by heavy-hitters like Wonder Woman and Supergirl. (It's honestly most likely because she has the most impressive and notable villains of all the heroes). Let's check out Batgirl below!

Imaginext - CATWOMAN!

Imaginext - DC Super Friends - Catwoman Playhouse - Fisher-Price/Mattel 2024

When I first saw images of this new girl-centric Imaginext DC Super Friends line popping up this past Spring, I didn't think I would make the effort to collect them. The larger cartoonish heads and the limited articulation are a bit of a buzzkill after years of collecting the main Imaginext line. But when I saw pics of this reimagined Catwoman design, it really grabbed my attention. Having Catwoman be portrayed as African American isn't a new concept. Three of her (relatively few) live-action incarnations have been played by women of color, and numerous Elseworlds comics and animated series appearances have portrayed her as different ethnicities. But something about this simple little figure with her glittery outfit and hot pink details struck me as wholly original and really fun. Once I bought her, of course, I have to splurge and get all the rest - and now I'm committed for the long haul. I only hope they push out new characters instead of endless redecos like Fisher-Price is notorious for. Let's check out Catwoman below!

Imaginext - WONDER WOMAN!

Imaginext - DC Super Friends - Wonder Woman - Fisher-Price/Mattel 2024

About five years ago I swore I would never buy another Wonder Woman Imaginext figure. After all the product related to her solo movies and Justice League, my Imaginext shelf was being overrun with Dianas (plus a lot of them were extremely similar). So flash forward to 2024 and I find myself breaking my word and buying two Wonder Women in a single month. The new girls' line with the new design style was an understandable purchase. But this figure in this post caught me by surprise. She is the exact same mold as her 2012 figure (the second female in this line, after Catwoman). And her accessories are all repurposed. So why did I buy this figure? (In a multipack of figure and vehicles I had no interest in?) Simple. Because of the yellow. I'm a sucker for bright primary colors on my heroes. And this is the first Imaginext Wonder Woman that isn't painted in metallics. She just looks so classic to me and is easily my favorite Diana in the line. Let's check out this great redeco'd Wonder Woman below!

Spidey and His Amazing Friends - GHOST-SPIDER!

Spidey and His Amazing Friends - 9" Supersized Ghost-Spider - Hasbro 2022

I've had this figure for years, photographed and everything, but am only getting around to posting her now. Back in 2021/2022 the new Spidey and his Amazing Friends show on Disney+ was a hit and merchandise was everywhere. A big trend in preschool toys at the time was jumbo figures of the most popular lines. Imaginext XL, Marvel Superhero Adventures, Power Rangers, and XL P.J. Masks figures could be found sporadically popping up in the toy aisles (the distribution was never consistent). And in the mix were these 9" Spidey super-sized figures. Getting Gwen was a no-brainer for me, but once I got her home and photographed her, I was already on the hunt for the 2.5" mini-figure (which I thought I would find any day) and I wanted to post them all together - and only two short years later my plans finally came together. Coincidentally these figures are showing up in stores again recently, re-issued with new packaging. But seemingly without Gwen. So the timing of this post of actually pretty perfect.

Spidey and His Amazing Friends - GHOST-SPIDER!

Spidey and His Amazing Friends - 2.5" Ghost-Spider and Bike - Hasbro 2022

Back in 2022 I was going crazy checking all my discount store chains for a few important toys. The Transformers Authentics Arcee and the G.I.Joe Basic Series Baroness were being found at stores like Family Dollar and Dollar General and I was on the hunt. I remember spending one rainy day on vacation driving up the coast and hitting close to a dozen of these stores obsessively looking for these elusive toys. (Spoiler: I eventually found them months later at FiveBelow). But in the process of hunting I discovered this discount line from Spidey and his Amazing Friends (the popular new preschool show on Disney+) featuring mini figures of the two main male heroes paired with a motorcycle. I eventually googled them and saw a Gwen figure in the mix, but only on Australian websites. Finding her became an obsession. She's rather unimpressive. She's unarticulated and sloppily painted, but I stayed vigilant and finally found her two years later in one of those same Dollar Generals. Let's check out Gwen below!
