Playmobil is very nostalgic for me. But the funny thing is that I sometimes forget that I used to be so obsessed with them. At some point in my high school years a discovered a small Mom and Pop boutique in my hometown that had a small Playmobil display in the back. I remember my initial purchase of a glow-in-the-dark ghost, quickly followed by a mer-man, then a multi-kid, then a set with a unicorn. It was a slippery slope and for a few years it was my secret obsession. I gave my collection away to nieces and nephews and honestly forgot all about it. But every few years I pick up a new figure and it all comes racing back. When I saw this Ghostbusters set in Toys R Us back in December I knew without a doubt I had to buy it. I didn't even realize that Playmobil made licensed characters - only to find a retro halloweeny lady in the form of Sigourney Weaver's Dana Barrett. Plus she comes in a set with the two terror dogs (which I love) and Peter Venkman. It's a great set. Let's check her out below!

Playmobil Ghostbusters - DANA BARRETT!

Playmobil SEA WITCH!
There was a brief period about twenty years ago when I became obsessed with Playmobil. There was a little boutique kids store in my hometown that had a whole wall of them and I found them adorable and cheap (they cost about $2.50 at the time). It was a quickly passing fad for me though and I soon passed on my small collection to my young relatives. Then a few years ago Playmobil started releasing their blind bag Fi?ures series and my interest was renewed. I've collected a few random figures here and there, but my favorite overall theme is to collect witches and evil queens. My inability to find the Series 6 Maleficent figure was the only reason I didn't do a big group review this past Halloween. This Sea Witch figure (also known as Magical Ocean Queen) is one of my favorites. There's nothing like a good evil mermaid. She was a part of a fantastic series called Waterworld which consisted of Mermaids, Mer-men, Underwater Ghouls, Sea-Beasts, etc. Let's check out the Sea Witch below!

Three Mini LADY LIBERTIES!
Happy Independence Day! I'm typing this far in advance because I will be celebrating the 4th high in the mountains with no cell phone reception and (most likely) no internet. It will be nice to get away for a few days, but I've been planning to review these fabulous green ladies for months now and no mere holiday excursion will deter me now. The Statue of Liberty is such a unique and timeless symbol. Her image is so pervasive sometimes that it takes some little plastic toys like these to make me notice how cool she is. The pale green of oxidized copper, the stern gaze, the Roman garb - everything about her is interesting. I'm frankly shocked their aren't more figures of her. Sure, you can find PVC figurines of every Looney Tunes character in the world dressed in the the green sash and spiked crown, but solid green, non-costumey representations like these are very rare. Now I just need a Funko POP, a mini Mez-Itz, and a Kubrick (and the POTA set piece doesn't count). Let's check these ladies out below!
