It's pretty amazing that the first DCEU Wonder Woman we saw was so spot-on. Gal Gadot had a perfect blend of beauty, grit, and presence that set a high bar for all future live-action Dianas. Her four films, the Zack Snyder Cut, and two film Cameos (The Flash and Shazam) is a lot to live up to. I figure the new James Gunn casting will be leaked before too long and the comparisons will begin. But in the meantime, we are still getting slow trickle of Gal Gadot Wonder Woman product. This second wave of DC Defender Version (2.5" scale) Blokees features a DCEU Justice League assortment that thrilled me with the inclusion of both Mera and Wonder Woman. And if the DC lines are anything like the Transformers assortments, we are likely to see dozens of new characters over the next few years. I expect there to be themes like Batman '66, Teen Titans Go, or maybe Batman: Hush, but my fingers are crossed for some seriously obscure deep cuts. Let's check out Wonder Woman below!

Golden Armor WONDER WOMAN!
I wasn't always a fan of Wonder Woman's Golden Eagle Armor. When it debuted in the Elseworlds classic, Kingdom Come, way back in 1996 it represented a side of Diana that I hadn't been exposed to before. When she donned the armor, she became violent, aggressive, and ready to wage war. I never thought of myself as someone who needs their heroes to have monk-like morals, I enjoy the antics of Gwenpool and Huntress as much the saintly heroes. But seeing Diana pull a 180° like that had a weird effect on me. I think this was because I could actually see her character making that turn. It wasn't a case of bad writing or a core misunderstanding of her nature, but it was a drastic and believable morality shift under extreme circumstances. Anyway, for a long time, the visual association of this armor made me uneasy. But eventually I got over it. So when I saw Gal in the armor I got genuinely excited. I'm so curious to see how it plays into the plot of the movie. Let's check out Golden Armor Wonder Woman below!

McFarlane Toys - WONDER WOMAN 1984!
I'm very excited to see the Wonder Woman 1984 movie when it (supposedly) will be hitting theatres this August. By that stage of our pandemic (three months from now), I will have attempted a family vacation, potentially traveled to a wedding, perhaps have gone back to the office, and I think I will be open to experiencing a theatre outing. It will actually be my birthday week as well, so I'll be feeling social. While I'm not opposed to the home-release of movies like Trolls and Scoob, Wonder Woman 1984 is definitely the type of movie I want to see on the big screen. The action and music in the trailer just gets me all revved up. The toys are adding to my anticipation as well. It's weird how all the standard-release Wonder woman figures so far have been unable to capture Gal Gadot's likeness. I've seen high-end items that look great, but this McFarlane figure is easily the best one in the $15-30 range. I'm holding out hopes that there will be a surprise release of Cheetah closer to August. Let's check out Diana below!

Justice League Mighty Minis - WONDER WOMAN!
One of the most impressive things about about the toy world is that, generally speaking, the products keep improving. When I think of what Marvel Legends and DC Multiverse figures looked like just a few years ago versus today, it's pretty amazing to see how much the quality has progressed. And it's not just those prominent action figure lines. The oversized 12" figures get better and better. And the little 2" Mighty Minis haven't been slacking off either. This Justice League Wonder Woman figure is leaps and bounds better than its Batman v Superman predecessor (similar to the improvements in the Multiverse and basic figures between the two films). I was so underwhelmed with the BvS Mighty Minis that I didn't even have new releases on my radar until I saw a pic of this one on Instagram and knew I had to have it. Surprisingly I followed a tip and found them right away at Best Buy. I'm a huge fan of tiny action figures so adding her to my collection was a no-brainer. Let's check out Wonder Woman below!

Justice League Basic Series - WONDER WOMAN!
I honestly wasn't sure if I would be picking up any Justice League movie figures this year. Thankfully, the Wonder Woman costume appears to be identical to her look in the solo movie from earlier this year, and the main Multiverse figure seems to be a re-release of the previous TRU exclusive. Frankly, I would have been very annoyed if there would have been some minor variation to hunt down. Then I saw the talking Justice League figures and was equally uninterested. I just have no need for gimmicks like that. What I didn't realize (but should have) is that there would be a "Basic Series" of figures in a smaller scale and pricepoint. And to my surprise this figure turned out to be gorgeous. The sculpt and articulation is impressive and it has me wishing for a small Mera to go with that upcoming Multiverse figure. Who knows what extras they will sneak in between now and November 17th. My hopes are high that this is just a small example of overall increased quality at Mattel like the last few Multiverse waves have shown.

Rock Candy - WONDER WOMAN & DIANA!
I tried to go back to the movies to see Wonder Woman for a second time this past weekend but the showtimes just didn't work out for my schedule. I'm still reeling over the fact that there was a really great DC movie. And that is was a female-led movie is just icing on the cake. I don't want to count my chicks before they're hatched, but I'm super excited for the Gotham City Sirens and Batgirl movies now. They could be equally great if given the same creative respect as this film had. After I left the theatre opening weekend, I really had to limit myself with Wonder Woman movie collectibles. It's my collecting impulse to horde plastic representations of all things I love. But I really restrained myself and limited my purchases to the Mattel Multiverse and these Rock Candy figures. I think I'm going to be a completist with DC and Marvel Rock Candy. I'll skip necessary repaints, but original sculpts are too tempting for me to pass up. These two figures are gorgeous and do not disappoint. Let's check them out below!

Wonder Woman Movie TRU Exc - WONDER WOMAN!
I've always said I'm not a collector of Wonder Woman figures, but as the most merchandised female superhero in the world, it's been almost impossible to resist picking up the occasional figure. Then comes all the movie merchandise. Between BvS and Wonder Woman, my small Diana collection has nearly doubled. I just got back from seeing Wonder Woman and I truly loved it. The Themyscira scenes in particular were cinematic perfection and I'm so happy they honored the movie with so many great toys. This TRU exclusive Wonder Woman figure may be the best of the bunch though. It has (almost) the same body as we saw last year in the BvS figure, but the new headsculpt is a stunning improvement. I'm glad she seems to be easy to get ahold of too. All my Toy R Us stores have of a ton of her. My only hope is that there will be a late-entry exclusive somewhere of Antiope.. maybe Amazon, maybe SDCC.. but I would love one more Amazonian! Let's check out the TRU Wonder Woman below!

12" Multiverse - WONDER WOMAN!
It's amazing how much of a difference a slight retooling can make. When I first bought the 12" Wonder Woman from last year's Batman v Superman line, I thought it was a really great looking figure. But now in comparison to this updated version from the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, the older one looks like a beast. The only real difference between the two figures is the head sculpt, but the overall improvement is massive. If you like this sculpt, but aren't crazy about the 12" scale, there is a Toys R Us exclusive 6" Multiverse figure coming out that appears to be a perfect scaled-down version of this sculpt. (That figure also comes with a bonus shield accessory for Ares). I'm really happy with all the merchandising that this movie has produced so far. I think it bodes well for upcoming female-centric superhero movies like Captain Marvel and Gotham City Sirens. Now my only worry is that I will like those costume designs. Wonder Woman and Supergirl look great, so hopefully the bar will remain high!

DC Multiverse - WONDER WOMAN (CLOAKED)!
Here is my final review of the basic Wonder Woman 6" line. I'm looking forward to reviewing the awesome 12" figure (I saw it at Barnes & Noble today, but couldn't bring myself to pay $3 above MSRP for it haha). And I'm super excited about the Menalippe and "standard" Wonder Woman 6" figures that should be popping up as exclusives soon. If you haven't seen the exclusive Wonder Woman figure yet, check out the Hong Kong TRU site. It's a scaled-down version of the 12" figure with a shield accessory for Ares. I think she'll be my favorite of the series when I finally get her. This cloaked Wonder Woman is a very nice figure, but definitely my least favorite of the group so far. I feel like this should have been the exclusive like the Nightclub Harley last year with the standard version seeing a wide release. But who knows what additional Diana figures we'll see with the Justice League film this Fall. We could be gearing up for a full-on Amazonian overload. Let's check out the cloaked Wonder Woman below!

Wonder Woman - DIANA OF THEMYSCIRA!
I'm loving the look of this Diana of Themyscira costume. Usually the island apparel for Wonder Woman is nothing more than a toga -- which isn't a bad thing. I actually like the nod to ancient Greece with the gladiator sandals and olive leaves in her hair, but I feel like I have a few action figures like that already and them seem so nondescript. This movie version of that look pays homage to the classic design but tweaks the color palette toward earthtones and adds some details that make it more formidable and battle-ready. I love it. And once again Mattel knocked it out of the park. I had really low expectations but now I have a renewed sense of excitement for all the upcoming Multiverse ladies: Batwoman, Jessica Cruz Green Lantern, DKIII Wonder Woman, Wonder Girl, and New52 Wonder Woman. They're going to be so great (if they actually all get released - there was a disheartening lack of these figures shown at Toy Fair). Time will tell. Let's check out Diana of Themyscira below!

Batman v Superman - WONDER WOMAN (Repaint)!
I really wasn't planning on buying this figure. I tend to avoid simple repaints of characters. Especially in this case where the Series 01 gold details are simply painted silver. But for some reason I found this particular figure irresistible. I really like this New 52 color scheme for Wonder Woman and I feel like its days are numbered. Between the new movie styling and the potential redesigns in the upcoming DC Rebirth event, I'm sure the powers that be will be changing her standard look shortly. While I will never attempt to be a Wonder Woman completest (I wouldn't even know where to begin!), I feel I could potentially be a New 52 Wonder Woman completest. So with that odd sense of loyalty to this costume, this lovely lady quickly found her way into my collection. On the bright side though, I don't really have to write much because I just reviewed her two months ago. I'm now curious to see if we'll get New 52 repaints of all the Dawn of Justice Wonder Women. I think it's a safe bet. Let's check out Diana below!

Mighty Minis - WONDER WOMAN!
Mighty Minis are relative newcomers to the blind-bag scene. I first noticed the WWE and Batman Unlimited assortments show up in stores late last year. I didn't expect to ever see any females in this line because of the squat and bulky nature of the bucks, but then the second assortment of Batman v Superman figures started showing up at Walmart a few weeks ago and suddenly a Wonder Woman was in the mix (as well as a gold variant). She is getting a ton of long-overdue attention from the Dawn of Justice movie. These figures are a far cry from the realistic proportions of the similarly-sized figures from Hasbro (Mighty Minis are way to stocky and broad), but they are still pretty fun collectibles. They measure in at 2" tall with four points of articulation and come disassembled so you get to squeeze for all the pieces. Luckily the capes are easy to feel for (and most of the men have capes). I'm super curious to see if we will get a similar assortment for Suicide Squad. Let's check out Wonder Woman below!

PEZ Batman v Superman - WONDER WOMAN!
I'm a collector of many many things. I usually just tell people that I collect hobbies. My first collection of things that I paid for (ie.. not rocks or bugs) was PEZ dispensers. I started when I was in middle school by buying a Smurf dispenser for 79 cents at a drug store in the mall. In a matter of months I had a line of them on the windowsill by my bed. Skip forward 25 years and I have a little over a thousand with custom display cases. I'm still really into them, but I stopped being a completist about 10 years ago. I still buy almost every new dispenser I see, but I don't go crazy with exclusives, chases, and foreign releases any more. It's pretty rare when two of my hobbies overlap, but when they do I get very exited. Just like every other plastic medium, female characters often get unfairly left out out of the mix. Sure, there are lots of girl-centric lines like Princesses, Barbie, My Little Pony, etc. But the girl characters in most of the other licenses never see the light of day. Batman v Superman - WONDER WOMAN!
It's funny that I found this figure so much more difficult to track down than the larger Multiverse version. It seems like all my stores are overstocked with Batman, Superman, and Aquaman... like literally more than a dozen of each... but Wonder Woman is nowhere to be found. I eventually picked her up at the Walmart in my parents' hometown while visiting last week (and surprisingly they had about 10). I haven't seen her anywhere since either. As expected from a movie-based basic line, her articulation is nothing to write home about. I count 11 points of articulation - which doesn't seem half bad at first, but her hips and shoulders are just straight forward swivel joints so the range of motion is severely limited. Despite that though, this is a really fun little figure. We almost never see females in non-collector lines. Hopefully future characters will see this treatment as well. Batman v Superman - Multiverse WONDER WOMAN!
2016 is going to be a great year for Wonder Woman fans. The Upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie (March 25th) introduced up to the first cinematic Wonder Woman ever. And honestly she seems really really well done. Her casting, costume, and demeanor seem perfect. Of course, her presence in the trailers is minimal so there's a lot of conjecture happening here. Immediately after Christmas this year, the Batman v Superman merchandise started trickling in to my Toys R Us stores. The first wave of products features 12", 6", and 5" Wonder Women. I certainly don't plan on being a completist because I have a feeling we're going to see a lot more figures (hopefully one with a blue hooded cape!) The detail on this figure is pretty great. There are a couple design flaws, but overall she is awesome. I'm surprised I was able to get my hands on her so soon. Maybe her newfound popularity will lead the way to a NECA Lynda Carter figure!
