Warm and Cozy Card by Samantha Mann

Warm & Cozy Card by Samantha Mann | Holiday Stockings, Sweater Weather and Sun Soaked Christmas Stamp Sets & Gingham Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs

Warm and Cozy!

Are you feeling chilly? This card by Samantha is sure to warm up your day! She created this adorable and cozy card by combining images from several different stamp sets. She started out with the branch from the What a Hoot Stamp Set, cutting it out with the coordinating What a Hoot Die Set. Then she filled the branch with cozy winter accessories, starting with the mittens from our Sweater Weather Stamp Set, adding the flip flops from our Sun Soaked Christmas Stamp Set, and ending with the stocking from our Holiday Stockings Stamp Set. Don't these items look so perfect together!? She colored all the images in coordinating shades of red and gray, with a pop of green on the holly. She also used the coordinating dies to cut them out (Sweater Weather Die SetSun Soaked Christmas Die Set, and Stylish Stockings Die Set). A little bit of twine attaches them perfectly to the branch!

The whole thing is layered over a fun gingham background that was created using our Gingham Stencil. To finish off the cozy theme, she used the sentiment from the Holiday Stockings Stamp Set, embossed in white! So fun!

She stamped the kitty, bunny and fox wearing sweaters from the set and colored them in fun bright pastels. She also added fun details like rosy cheeks on the animals and sparkles on the hats! She used the coordinating Sweater Weather Die Set to cut the images out. Then she created the sweet tags using our Fancy Edges Tag Die Set with a mix of gingham and polka dotted papers. This die set is fun because it has several mini borders that you can mix and match to create fun borders and edges for your tags! To finish them off she added the word "joy" die cut out using the bonus words from our Snow Globe Shaker Die Set too!

Next she created a custom gift box that is perfect for a small and special gift! She used our Naughty or Mice Stamp Set for the image of the mouse opening the present. She colored this sweet image and cut it out with the coordinating Naughty or Mice Die Set. She created a scene for the mouse adding some blue distress inks to the sky.  A snowy hill was added along the bottom, cut out with our Land Borders Die Set. To add to the holiday scene she used the fun bold tree from our Festive Forest Stamp Set, cutting it out with the coordinating Festive Forest Die Set. This tree is the perfect size to match with that little mouse! Such a fun combination of images!

Sweater Thank you Card by Jennifer Jackson

Sweater Thank you Card by Jennifer Jackson | Sweater Weather Stamp Set and Argyle Stencil Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Sweater Thank You!

Hello! Jen here with a fun sweater themed thank you card! Last week it was REALLY cold in Wisconsin! It got down to -35 degrees on one of the days! It's warmer this week but I'm still in the mood for sweaters so when I needed a thank you I pulled out our cute Sweater Weather Stamp Set and Argyle Stencil Set. I've been wanting to pair these two products together and I love how this card turned out.

I started by creating the argyle background using our Argyle Stencil Set on a piece of kraft colored cardstock. I make the diamonds green with green distress oxide ink. Then I used white embossing paste for the stitching layer. But since I didn't wait for the green to completely dry the white paste picked up some of the green color. Even though I didn't do that on purpose I love how it looks!

Then I colored the kitty wearing a sweater from our  Sweater Weather Stamp Set with bright watercolor brush markers. Then I cut the image out using the coordinating Sweather Weather Die Set. I added the kitty to the card, layering it over a white circle. For the sentiment I chose the "many thanks" from the Thankful Thoughts Stamp Set and embossed it with white embossing powder onto a black flag that was cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set

I hope you enjoyed this project today and are staying warm!

Foxy Winter Sweater Card by January Guest Designer Toni Maddox

Hi, everyone!  Toni of Frankie Helps Craft here with you for my last guest design post. Sigh.  I've had such a great time playing with NND products and sharing my creations with you. I'll miss you guys!  And thanks to Newton's Nook for having me as a guest designer.  It's truly been an honor!

Foxy Winter Sweater Card by January Guest Designer Toni Maddox | Sweater Weather Stamp Set and Evergreens Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

For my final card I combined a couple of my favorites I've used this month, the Sweater Weather set and Evergreens Stencil.  I started the card by masking and sponging Evergreens Stencil using Distress Oxides in Mowed Lawn and Shabby Shutters.  I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black. Once that was dry (what a mess getting Versafine your embossing plate, trust me) I embossed the background using a sweater knit folder.  As a knitter, this makes me happy dance.

I colored up the  Sweater Weather fox, adding lots of details like fur lines using Copics and a white pigment pen. I added a few sequin snowflakes too for additional interest. Can you see I used a puffy snow embossing pen on the hat as well? I love this combo of texture, shine and color.

Winter Friends Card by January Guest Designer Toni Maddox

Hi, everyone!  Toni of Frankie Helps Craft with my second guest design card for January. I think this one is my favorite of the lot.  Love plaid much? Why yes I do!
Winter Friends Card by January Guest Designer Toni Maddox | Sweater Weather Stamp Set and Plaid and SnowFall Stencils by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

I started the card by using the Plaid Stencil with Distress Oxides Candied Apple and Peacock Feathers. I then added snowflakes using the Snowfall stencil and a white pigment ink.  What a fantastic combo.  I love it!  I set that aside to dry fully while I colored up the Sweater Weather Critters using Copics that coordinated with the plaid. Swoon!

I next die cut the aperture and sponged the card base lightly with the Peacock Blue Distress Oxide for the background beneath the critters. I used a white pigment pen to add a few dotty snowflakes. Now when it came time for the sentiment, I originally embossed it in white directly onto the plaid but it was visually lost.  See what I mean?

Embossing it on the blue strip made such a difference. Btw, I sponged the blue strip with the Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide, ombre-style. Love!

Now I didn't stop there.  Recall I had cut the aperture from the plaid layer and was certainly not going to let that go to waste! I used it as a backdrop for one of the Loveable Llamas with a big pile of birthday presents on its back. So cute!

I used the same Copic colors to color up both cards with the addition of BV23 which is my favorite shadow color on the llama card. I added it around the blanket, along the bottom of the llama as well as beneath its chin. What a difference in depth, aye?

Thanks for joining me today! See you next week!

Love You Kitty card by Maria Russell

Love You Kitty card by Maria Russell | Newton Dreams of Italy and Sweater Weather Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Kitty Love!

Have you thought about Valentines yet? It's just around the corner and today we are sharing an adorable card by Maria that would be purr-fect to send to your favorite sweetheart! She combined several sets to create this cute little love scene, starting with the kitty in the gondola from the Newton Dreams of Italy Stamp Set! She stamped and colored that adorable little kitty, using the coordinating Newton dreams of Italy Die Set to cut him out. She also stamped and die cut out the little wine bottle included in that set and cut a little slit in the boat to insert it next to the kitty! Then she stamped and colored the kitty in the sweater from the Sweater Weather Stamp Set and die cut it out using the coordinating Sweater Weather Die Set so that she could perch that cute kitty on the end of the boat! How adorable is that! She added the Love die cut (from another company) with the word "you" from the Cocktail Mixer Stamp Set to create her sentiment. For the background she added in clouds and water onto a scalloped edge panel that was die cut using the big frame fromour Frames & Flags Die Set! What an adorable scene!

We Go Together Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

Kitties in Sweaters Card by Tatiana Trafimovich | Sweater Weather stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Two kitties with Mirror Stamping!

Tatiana created this adorable kitty card today using our Sweater Weather stamp set! She stamped the image of the kitty in the sweater twice, once the regular way and once with mirror stamping so that the kitties could be facing each other! How fun is that?! She Stamped them in Bristol paper and colored them using Zig Clean Color markers and Prismacolor pencils! Then she added them onto the card with some pretty pink in the background and sequins too! She finished off the card with the "we go together like winter and sweaters" sentiment, also from the Sweater Weather stamp set! What an adorable duo!

We Go Together Card by January Guest Designer Kevin Bray

Hi, guys! It's Kevin back with another card for NND! Today I decided to use the cutest little rabbit from the Sweater Weather stamp set for a fun wintery Valentine. Check it out!

I cut a mask using a heart die and inked on some Distress Inks using some soft colors. Then I Copic colored the sweet bunny from Sweater Weather. His little sweater features a snowflake but I masked it off and added one of the hearts instead to better suit a Valentine's Day card. I completed it with a gray sentiment strip.

Thanks for stopping by and I will see you next week for my last card as this month's guest designer!
