Peony Card by Farhana Sarker | Peony Blooms and Blooming Botanicals Stamp Sets, Frames & Flags Die Set and Bold Blooms Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Friends are Flowers Peony Card!

Today we are sharing a gorgeous spring floral card by Farhana! This amazing floral card features the lovely peony blooms from our Peony Blooms Stamp Set. She embossed the two of the flower images with gold embossing powder and then colored the blooms in gorgeous hues of pink. She fussy cut her blooms out by hand but if you don't like to hand cut, you could use the coordinating Peony Blooms Die Set instead.

For the card base, she embossed a lovely floral background by using our Bold Blooms Stencil and passing it through her die cutting platform to create a dry embossed background texture. Then she layered the lovely colored blooms onto the lower corner using dimensional adhesives. She also added the sentiment, embossed in gold from our Blooming Botanicals Stamp Set. The black banner was die cut using a banner from our Frames & Flags Die Set and perfectly frames the sentiment.

Floral Card for a Happy Couple by Ellen Haxelmans

Floral Card for a Happy Couple by Ellen Haxelmans | Blooming Botanicals Stamp Set, Peony Blooms Stamp Set, Wedding Frills Stamp Set and Walking Woofs Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

For the Happy Couple!

Today we are sharing a beautiful wedding card by Ellen! This card wold be perfect for sending to a happy couple or a wedding or an anniversary!

To create this card, Ellen combined several stamp sets. The gorgeous bloom on the bottom of the card is from our Peony Blooms Stamp Set. She colored the blooms, leaves and bud images and cut them out using the coordinating Peony Blooms Die Set. For the floral background, she used the big image of flowers from our Blooming Botanicals Stamp Set

The custom sentiment was created by combining stamped words from our Wedding Frills Stamp Set with the die cut "happy" from our Walking Woofs Die Set! What a clever way to combine elements together. This card also uses our Frames & Flags Die Set for the stitched rectangle and scalloped panels.

Floral Card for a Happy Couple by Ellen Haxelmans | Blooming Botanicals Stamp Set, Peony Blooms Stamp Set, Wedding Frills Stamp Set and Walking Woofs Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  1. (left photo) I stamped the Blooming Botanicals Stamp Set on a rectangle cut out using the Frames & Flags Die Set with embossing ink. Afterwards I embossed it with Clear Matt Dull Wow Embossing Powder.
  2. (center photo) Later I stamped and cut one of the sentiments from the Wedding Frills Stamp Set apart. I used gold embossing powder the words. I also did cut out the happy word with the word die from the Walking Woofs Die Set.
  3. (right photo) The flowers from the Peony Blooms Stamp Set are colored with Zig Markers (No. 230 Pale Rose, No. 021 Light Carmine, No. 220 Tea Rose, No. 070 Orange, No. 050 Yellow, No. 044 Deep Green, No. 041 Light Green, No. 045 Pale Green).

Hibiscus Thank You Card by Larissa Heskett

Hibiscus Thank You Card by Larissa Heskett | Hibiscus Stencil Set, Peony Blooms Stamp Set, Frames Squared Die Set and Frames & Flags Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Hibiscus Stencil Thank You!!

Happy Friday! Today we are sharing a gorgeous hibiscus card by Larissa! She created this gorgeous background using our two piece Hibiscus Stencil Set. The two piece stencils have etching of the opposite layer on them which makes them easy to line up and use with multiple colors or mediums. To achieve the stunning effect on this card, Larissa used green glitter gel paste on the stencil layer that has the leaves. Then she switched to the stencil that has the flowers and she used transfer gel and white flocking. After she finished the flocking she lined up the flower stencil layer a second time and added distress ink over the flocked flowers to give them their  lovely color! She lined it up a third time to add the gold foil to the flower stamens.

Once this gorgeous panel was created, she framed it with a scalloped edge border using our Frames & Flags Die Set. Then she stamped the "thank you" sentiment from our Peony Blooms Stamp Set and cut it out using the stitched circles from our Frames Squared Die Set to layer over her background.

Here is a close-up so you can see the sparkle and texure:

Thank You Card Duo by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi

Thank you. Twice.
Preparing for my guest designing I've made a bunch of sketches for the cards I planned to
create for Newton's Nook in July. Almost a dozen. As I realized that the end of the month is
near and there's only one blogpost to go, I tried to narrow and pick my favorite sketch to
make, but somehow I couldn't decide between two, so here they are :)

Thank You Card Duo by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi | Peony Blooms Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmadeFor my first card I stamped the floral elements of the set ‘Peony Blooms’ onto masking paper
and cut them out. After stamping the first flower I covered it with masking paper then went
for the next one. I stamped the images repeatedly making sure that the surrounding flowers
are covered with masking paper.

I created a diagonal shape with the peonies leaving the bottom right area white. I coloured everything with Tombow markers and splattered white acrylic paint all over when it dried. To finish my card I stamped my sentiment with black ink and adhered the finished panel onto a deep blue card base.

For my monochromatic card I picked this adorable dog duo from the Puppy Pals stamp set as the center image and stamped it onto a card sized Copic friendly paper. The rest was just coloring with warm greys.

Creating monochromatic cards is really relaxing as there's no need to think about which colors to pick. This card just needed six markers and a white gel pen. I usually use a bunch of tools to create my cards so it's fun to make something interesting with supplies fit my pocket :)

Thank you for inviting me, it's been wonderful to be a guest designer for Newton's Nook and I have had so much fun creating cards with these adorable products.

Thank you for reading my posts, I hope you liked my creations!

Thinking of You Card by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi

Thinking of You

Thinking of You Card by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi | Garden Mice, Little Lilies and Peony Blooms Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
I really love stamp sets that remind me of my childhood storybooks and Garden Mice is definitely that type. It combines the cutest critters with floral elements which makes it a perfect scene building set.

Thinking of You Card by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi | Garden Mice, Little Lilies and Peony Blooms Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

To start my card I Copic colored a bunch of images from this hilarious set and added elements from other two: Peony Blooms and Little Lilies. I usually colour and fussy cut more than I need, I found this very helpful while assembling the cards.

For the background I trimmed a piece of watercolor paper to approx 5x5 inch and sprayed it with Oxide sprays. Watercolor cardstock has an uneven surface and special texture which I thought to be fun for my garden scene.

After white heat embossing the sentiment onto the middle of the background I started to build and arch shaped scene from the colored elements. I used foam dots of various thickness to make the dimensions more interesting.

I planned to have splatter of white acrylic paint on all over the background, but I totally forgot about it, so I decided to put small dots with my gel pen here and there as a finishing touch.

Thank you for stopping by
Hugs,
Ildi
