Zahnner Dogman Hussars released for Flintloque

"A new regiment raised after the ruination of Pudigrochumsberg and outfitted for the ongoing war against Ostaria. They are fine riders and many of the troopers were taken from the depots of the Hundmorder Dragoons. Used for scouting and harassing the enemy the Zahnner are a fang in the side of the enemy."

A new cavalry unit for all players of Flintloque and Slaughterloo who have Pudigrochumberg or Confederation of Finklestein or even Ostarian Empire forces of Dogmen.  As with all codes you can choose from a pack or a single trooper or a full unit with a saving tailoring your collection.  These troops feature in 5028 Beir & Bones and 5030 Slaughterloo.

59598 Zahnner Dogmen Hussars

This code contains five different metal poses of 28mm scale Dogmen mounted on Horses.  An officer with hand raised, a musician with horn, a standard bearer and two poses of sword armed troopers all in the same hussar uniform.  When assembled they stand about 35mm to the eyeline.  Go HERE.

“A blackened and burned land is all that remains of the once thriving kingdom of Pudigrochumsberg the victims of the Ostarian Emperor Klaffenhund’s madness.  In an attempt to gain popularity during the Ferach Revolution the Emperor decided to test his newly uniformed in white and musket armed Dog soldiers against this prosperous nation.  The few ready corps of troops that the  Houndian King Bonio of Pudigrochumsberg could bring to battle were scooped up and binned after a few weeks of campaigning.  Klaffenhund the head of the Yapsburg dynasty would accept no surrender and ordered the sacking of every city in their land and sowed salt into the fields. King Bonio and several regiments escaped and sought refuge with the Elves becoming a small force sworn to destroy the Ostarians at any opportunity.  Some Pudigroan soldiers with  Finklesteiner assistance fight on in their  ravaged country in attempts to dislodge the Ostarians unfortunate enough to be assigned garrison duty in Pudigrochumsberg.” - The Ruined Kingdom of Pudigrochumsberg

Pudigroan Grenadiers released for Flintloque and Slaughterloo

The last new release of more than sixteen during this mega offer month is a big one for the World of Valon.  A whole set of new Dogmen from the ruined kingdom of Pudigrochumsberg.  This takes that army up to an all arms force of infantry (line, grenadiers), cavalry (dragoons, cuirassiers), artillery, light troops, command, personalities, limited edition and a Divisional Army Pack (DAP) saving 15% off an entire division.  Go HERE for this Ferach Empire allied nation to see everything.

“Give us our revenge was the only request of the thirty thousand Dogmen who marched into Armorican service. Give us the chance to kill Ostarians and we will. The Emperor Mordred was only too happy to oblige them and in addition to training them in Elvish drill he armed them with his firelocks and give them his artillerie was well. There are more than a dozen regiments of Pudigroan in the field against Ostaria.”

56597 Pudigroan Dogman Grenadiers

Veterans of many campaigns and extensive soldiering have made the remaining regiments of line that King Bonio possesses very effective fighters. Considered a breed apart these troops perform very well in battle.  Poses are an Officer with Pistol, Drummer, Standard Bearer with bone topped pole and musket, Sergeant with musket and spontoon.  Four different soldier poses with musket which are firing, advancing, loading and marching.  As with all World of Valon codes you get free resin cartouche bases included.  You can choose from a skirmish pack of ten, a unit of twenty (with saving included) or a trooper booster single (random trooper or ask for a pose you want in any amount).  Go HERE for these new miniatures.

These are characterful miniatures and each could tell a story of war in Central Urop.  Above is a front and rear block view of each.

Dogman mounted Field Marshal released for Flintloque and Slaughterloo

Now released a great generic officer for use in any Dogman Nation or allied army in skirmish and mass battle. See it in the Army of Ostaria or the Army of Pudigrochumsberg and the Confederation of Finklestein now or read on for more.

56118 Dogman Mounted Field Marshal. This code contains one mounted miniature which is composed of a senior Dogman officer with separate pointing arm and a running Dogman Horse with plain saddle blanket.  28mm scale metal miniatures.  Go HERE.

This release is a new rider and a new horse.  The horse is based upon the 56524 Horse used by most Dogmen Cavalry but it is in metal rather than resin and has a plain saddle cloth making it very adaptable for different uniform colours. As a generic character the Field Marshal can be created using the game rules in 5028 Beir & Bones as well as 5030 Slaughterloo and fashioned as you wish into your section or command structure.

Paddling with Pigs a Slaughterloo battle report from the USA

It is my pleasure to present to to you a brief battle report with images from the United States of America.  A game of Slaughterloo featuring the Dogmen of Pudigrochumsberg and the Dwarves of the Von Rotte Legion. Based on a scenario from the free army booklet for these forces the two players were Bob McAlister and Mike Messenger both long time players of Slaughterloo.  Read on for more and click on the composite images to enlarge them.  Thanks. GBS

Paddling with Pigs

"Those Pummilig Pigs..I wonder if they would be tasty in sausage form with morning tea?"

Taking inspiration from the Uniformation article for the Dogmen of Pudigrochumsberg which deals with the Silage War the 'Paddling with Pigs' scenario was upscaled to Slaughterloo and put on the table.  You can download this article by clicking through to their page above on the website.  The players expanded upon the text given.

The short and vicious Silage War.
The War of Silage was a minor part of the Bier Wars but it saw two small but professional armies go toe to toe and featured three major battles and dozens of skirmishes which set the soldiers of Pudigrochumsberg in good stead for the coming war against Ostaria and its murdering lunatic leader the Emperior Klaffenhund.

So playing out The War of Silage in Flintloque and Slaughterloo as part of the Dwarf Bier Wars. It is the goal of the Baron Von Rotte to capture the city of Saltzbark and thereby King Bonio to make the king wear the pink dress and to throw him in the pig pen. To that end a chain of scenarios can be assembled building towards this goal. I do hope to get at least some of these scenarios ready and published for free in the future.

The first scenario in the chain currently titled 'Paddling with Pigs'. This scenario sees a border incursion by Hussar light cavalry against an outpost of Line infantry with the aim of preventing the Dwarves from crossing the river until a rider dispatched to battalion can bring some Dogman cavalry forward to assist the Pudigroan.

The scenario was fought with two divisions using the standard rules of Slaughterloo.  Above you can see the set up of the table on a six by four layout with the stream running cross the middle and a bridge which will be the focal point of the scenario.

The two armies are set up and play begins.  Which units featured in each division?

Von Rotte Legion
52501 Krautian Uhlan lancers (10) used as the Hussars, since the riders had too much ale and fell off their pigs and had to be re-glued.
52503 Von Rotte Line Grenadiers (20)
52514 Von Rotte Line (20)
52504 Dwarf Landwehr (20)
52521 Von Rotte light infantry (12)
52519 Von Rotte cuirassiers (10)
LE042 Frederic Von Rotte (General)

Pudigrochumsberg
56589 Pudigroan Line (20)
56589 Pudigroan Line (20)
56588 Rache Carabiniers (12)
56587 Officers (2)
56590 Pudigroan Foot Artillery
56592 Cruellest Deville Cuirassiers (10)
LE046 King Bonio as an observer.

It was decided that we could bring on a total of six units out of the DAPS (Divisional Army Packs).

The two armies advance upon the bridge but with its nearer start and cavalry lead the Dwarves reach it first!

Von Rotte Cuirassiers thunder across the bridge with supporting musketry from the infantry.  The Dogmen form up on the opposite bank to meet their charge!

Amid the flash of swords the Von Rotte are broken and have to fall back across the bridge leaving the way open for the Dogmen to make the advance.  A 12lb cannon has been brought up to the edge of the stream and loaded with grapeshotte...

King Bonio looks on proudly as his orange coated infantry begin the march under the volleys of the Dwarf Militia and Von Rotte Line.  The game progresses and the Dogmen take the opposite bank and defeat the Legion!

Thank you to Bob McAlister and Mike Messenger for taking the time to shoot these pictures and provide core details of the game that was played. Good show!

The Ostarian Dogman army of Simon Hutchinson

This short article and its pictures are a treat for players of Flintloque and Slaughterloo.  The owner of this wonderful Dogman army in the pay of the Emperor Klaffenhund sent me these images last year and what with one thing and another it has taken me until now to show them off on our blog.  So without further ado  here is Simon Hutchinson's Ostarian Army.

Every image is followed by a short account of it and all the pictures were taken during a game of Slaughterloo in Australia between Mr Hutchinson and Mr Ward with his Orcish and Grand Alliance army (who took the day by the thinnest of margins I am told).

Ostarian Line Infantry advance along the road
A battery of Ostarian field guns prepare to fire!

Cavalry clash at the crossroads!

Hussars lay about themselves against enemy Orcs and Dwarves

The view from the Grand Alliance side of the battle

Orcish Dragoons are thinned as the Dogmen Hussars push ahead

Lethal Volley!  This adds to the mighty of the artillery shooting

The two armies lined up before plat commences

I think you will agree that the miniatures look lovely as does the gaming table with its terrain.  I really like the buzz and feel of the battlefield and it is to the players credit.  At the moment the Dog Army as shown consists of the following units and officers.

Emperor Klaffenhund
General Wagsalittle
General Woofington
General Barksalot
General Digsabit

These are taken from the following codes if you wish to have a look on the Alternative Armies website and of course if you want Slaughterloo the rules you can have them as a digital download HERE.  LE020 Emperor Klaffenhund and 56510 Dogman Command.

1 unit of 12 Frei Corps Von Chum
2 units of 12 Frei Corps
7 units of 20 Line
1 unit of 20 Chasseurs
2 units of 20 Grenadiers
2 units of 10 Cuirassiers
2 units of 10 Hussars
4 Artillery Pieces each with 6 Crew

This sizable fighting force's troops are from among these codes roughly in order of the army account. 56504 Frei Corps Von Chum, 56516 Dogman Jagers, 56506 Dogman Line, 56514 Dogman Chassuers, 56513 Dogmen Grenadiers, 56508 Dogman Cuirassiers, 56509 Dogman Hussars plus 56512 Dogman Artillery Crew.  The guns themselves are mixed from 59502 Ferach Artillery Set.

Simon is planning on adding to this army as well as expanding out his Witchlands Undead army and more Ferach Empire too.  Big battles are ahead!

I wish to thank him for sharing these excellent pictures and the account of his Ostarian Slaughterloo Dogman army.

"A full two minutes passed before, at a full run, two Dogmen tongues lolling and steaming in the cool air came to the Baron.  Between them they carried a Sedan Chair.  The Baron’s own chair a family heirloom.  They placed it down and then bowed before one of them opened the door of the Sedan Chair and stepped back.  Abelard Von Canin entered the small vehicle and sat down.  The door was swung shut and he was lifted before setting off at a fast pace out of the town.  The jarring of the cobbles of the street was lessened by the velvet seat and the arms of his bearers.  As the houses slipped by and they left Whinesbark the Baron made one more check upon his uniform and then lifted his pistol from its holder."

56592 Cruellest DeVille Cuirassiers for Flintloque released!

April is a big month for Alternative Armies every year and on top of our annual Salute Season which sees free shipping worldwide (on all orders over 10.00GBP until 18th April) we have new releases for Flintloque and Slaughterloo...the final codes and divisional box for the Army of Pudigrochumsberg!  These three releases are 56587 Pudigroan Command Set, 56592 Cruellest DeVille Cuirassiers and 56604 Pudigroan Dog Division (DAP) and all of these are now on our website HERE.  The whole army is now complete and released! There are three articles and news items one for each to give each of them their proper worth and place but if you want to see all of them now just click through.  Read on for more on the DeVille Cuirassiers!

CRUELLEST DEVILLE CUIRASSIERS
The heavy cavalry and mailed fist of King Bonio the cuirassiers thunder into battle to smash the formations of the hated Ostarians and others.  They are few in number but superbly good cavalry being well mounted and trained plus in possession of a wide knowledge of real battle. There is one regiment with ten squadrons of about fifty riders each.  A squadron has two sections and a command element meaning a section has roughly ten Cavalry on  horses in it.  An officer, standard bearer, musician, sergeant along with troopers.  Armed with heavy Straight Swords and the occasional pistol their uniforms are as follows. The uniform consists of a dark orange tunic, grey breeches, a grey tricorne and dark brown boots. Facing colours (cuffs, collars, etc.) are dark blue. Equipment is white with equipment straps being of black leather and the cuirass is brushed steel.

56592 Cruellest DeVille Cuirassiers
This is a set of 28mm white metal Dogman miniatures giving you the heavy cavalry sections and units of your new Pudigrochumsberg force.  These are meant for use with the rest of the Pudigrochumsberg packs but they will also serve well in Confederation of Finklestein collections and also revolutionary older style Ostarian Empire forces.  Sculpted by our lead designer Sam Croes there are five different models (riders) in this set as well as a horse and they are available as a full unit (10) as well as a skirmish set (5) and a trooper booster (1) as well.  As with all our Valon miniatures we offer the additional choice of purchase pro-painted and based by our team of ladies here in Scotland.  The poses are from left to right in the pictures an officer with a raised pistol and scabbarded sword, a musician blowing on a bugle with scabbarded sword, a standard bearer with a pole topped with a plain cylinder head and scabbarded sword, trooper with straight sword raised and lastly a trooper with straight sword held at the ready.  All riders wear a tricorne and steel cuirass.  18.00GBP Go HERE.

These Dogmen are all 'poodle' types making them the same average height and bulk as an Elf.  They would make an excellent skirmish section in their own right.  The horse in this code is well suited to cavalry operating in a colder part of Urop near Diberia as the horses have cloth protection for the face.

The painted examples here were painted by Jez at Shakespeare Studio Painting.  You can see his work HERE.

56587 Pudigroan Command Set for Flintloque released!

Read on for more on the Pudigroan Command Set!

56587 Pudigroan Command Set
A set of 28mm white metal Dogman miniatures which gives you the foot and mounted officers in all units for your new force.  These are meant for use with the rest of the Pudigrochumsberg packs but they will also serve well in Confederation of Finklestein collections and also revolutionary older style Ostarian Empire forces.  Sculpted by our lead designer Sam Croes there are eight miniatures in this set four on foot and two mounted on horses.  This is a set and you can also purchase a single foot officer as well as a drop down menu choice.  As with all our Valon miniatures we offer the additional choice of purchase pro-painted and based by our team of ladies here in Scotland.  Price 18.00GBP. Go HERE.

Every command set we made for The World of Valon follows the same methodology in that we have four officers on foot and two mounted.  Those on foot have one of four dominant personalties to reflect officers in Slaughterloo.  These personalties are Aggressive, Cowardly, Heroic and Dastardly.  The mounted officers are always a 'colonel' grade and a 'general' grade for maximum usefulness in an army. The poses are from left to right in the foot officers photograph firstly the 'Cowardly' type of officer with hand out stretched and a pistol, the 'Aggressive' type of officer at a full run teeth bared and sword raised.  Next is the 'Heroic' type of officer sword held aloft and arm raised preparing an order to attack.  Then the 'Dastardly' type officer who is rubbing his hands together plotting how to get his troops killed and himself glory.  The mounted officers from left to right are firstly a 'Colonel' holding the reigns and with a pistol in his hand and secondly a 'General' with raised sword and periwinkle wig.  All are wearing Pudigrochumsberg uniform and most wear a tricorne hat.  These Dogmen are all 'poodle' types making them the same average height and bulk as an Elf.  They are character filled miniatures who would also make excellent additions to an infantry, cavalry, artillery or any other section as well.

Here are some in game photographs of Flintloque of these officers in action!

I just have to say that the Aggressive Foot Officer is I think one of the nicest Flintloque miniatures ever!  Such a radical pose and possessing a vitality that makes you think he will begin running at any moment.  Enjoy!
