Furioso English Civil War rules and 15mm armies released

Now out the brand new rules set by Steve Danes author of Furioso 16th Century as well as Sengoku Monster Hunter and solo play Doom Squad too.  Furioso English Civil War is an eighty page tabletop rules system suitable for scales 6mm to 15mm to 28mm in fighting battles in the 17th century.  The book is in print and as a digital download too (as are our other game systems) with a 20% saving included.

When on the website click on the book to read about the rules and their features.  Here are the new codes:

FUR03 Furioso English Civil War  (Print and Paid Digital Download)

FURA06 Furioso English Civil War Mega Bundle (Two Armies, Free Bases, Free Book) Save 20%

FURA07 Royalist Army of the West Country (Starter Army with Free Bases) Save 10%

FURA08 Parliament Army of the West Country (Starter Army with Free Bases) Save 10%

We welcome questions and input on new rules systems and are happy to assist with those wishing to review the rules too.  Contact us on sales@alternative-armies.com.

This is our last new release for the month.

New Guild Hunters, Kappa and School Boys for Sengoku 15mm Japanese Fantasy

Sculpted by John Bell the mighty Sengoku 15mm Japanese Fantasy range is the largest of its kind in the whole world and now has two hundred and twenty poses of miniatures.  All as singles plus packs and value sets plus scenics and two books in the Monster Hunter game written by Steve Danes.

New releases now in the range a total of nine new metal miniatures giving you Swimming Kappa, School Boys and a second group of Guild Hunters.

Swimming Kappa.  A pack of twelve mixed of three poses is SGFP60 and you can get them singly as codes SGF212, SGF213 and SGF214.  These go alongside a much earlier release which is SGFP05 Kappa which is part of SGFP1 Sengoku Set One the most popular starting place for Monster Hunter players.

Japanese School Boys.  A pack of twelve mixed of three poses is SGFP61 and they are singles as SGF215, SGF216 and SGF217.  These are the counter point to an older release SGFP06 Japanese School Girls.  For those who wish to get sword play and such in anime style settings.

Guild Hunters II.  SGFP62 is a pack of three poses.  Character monster hunters as singles too SGF218, SGF219 and SGF220.  Following on a popular code SGFP33 Guild Hunters these are your heroes in the Monster Hunter game.

While every Sengoku miniature is a single pose the best way to collect the insane variety of Yokai and Humans in the range is by the Sengoku Sets which all have a saving and feature no doubles of poses. There are currently ten different sets.

If you wish to try your hand at being a Guild Hunter then check out Sengoku Monster Hunter and its sequel Rampage as print and cheaper instant digital books.  Solo play and much more.  You need only a handful of miniatures to get going and no two adventures are ever the same. We recommend you begin by reading the books and then choosing your figures.  Or get SGFP01 Sengoku Set One and one of the Guild Hunter miniatures to start.

September becomes October with Book Delay offers extended and new cover reveal

UPDATE Please refer to this new ARTICLE as the content below is now outdated and partially incorrect.

---

Due to circumstances beyond the control of Alternative Armies the planned pre-order and release of Furioso English Civil War by Steve Danes has been postponed. Not by a great deal of time but by over two weeks. We have all of our books printed locally here in Scotland and to ensure this we have encountered this delay.  The pre-order will begin later, the release in October and our current free in all shipped orders code (15mm Ruined Arch) will be extended into October as well for fairness. Read on for full details...

The Pre-Order offer on Furioso English Civil War will commence 2nd October 2023 in the 17th Century 15mm Range pages.  Alongside the print book to pre-order will be army packs with free bases, a mega bundle and savings to go with the rules and of course the brand new range of over 40 single ECW miniatures.  The offer is 20% off the book AND all the other codes in the 17th Century Range AND in the 16th Century Range (including other Furioso titles, their digital versions and their army packs and mega bundle) at Checkout (shown on screen then before payment). Originally meant to end 1st October this discount of these ranges will be extended until Thursday 12th October 2023 when the book is released and the digital download version (20% cheaper as are all our digital books) will come out. We will then commence shipping all orders which contained the book and army packs as pre-ordered.  Miniatures only orders will ship as normal at all times.

To be totally fair we now also ‘Extend September 2023’ in terms of the offers on ranges outlined above and in terms of giving you MRS8 Broken Arch totally free in every order shipped out.  This will be until Tuesday 17th October and then the free item will update to another brand new different code.  We have updated our announcements to reflect all this.  This includes the current Deals and Offers array of 5% to 50% off codes which will not change until then too.

We are delighted to show you now the cover for the upcoming Furioso English Civil War created by Sam Croes.  Enjoy!

We apologise for this unavoidable delay but we hope these measures will make up for it and we are sure the wait will be worth it.

Lets play Furioso with the Yarkshire Gamer video run through

A treat for historical renaissance period wargames.  Kindly with permission a share of the great video run through of the Furioso rules with the Yarkshire Gamers.  It is the second article on their blog on the rules and it goes into some depth.  They play using their own collection of 28mm scale miniatures not of our manufacture.  Here are the videos and I have also put in links to the original posts and to the rules and our 15mm scale range of miniatures and pre-made armies for the game with element bases included.

Furioso has two titles.  The core rule book and the Italian Wars expansion.  These head up our range of miniatures and characters in 15mm scale.  The books are in print and as digital downloads.  Go HERE and for a browse.

If you wish to visit the Yarkshire Gamers blog to see the original posts the first one on the core rules is HERE and the second one is HERE with the videos.  Now here are the videos to watch the play and to learn more.  Presented in order of part one through to part four.  Excellent stuff!

One of the aspects not covered in the great videos was the 'fantastical' aspect of Furioso the Italian Wars with the war machines and genius of Leonardo Da Vinci which allows you to field his devices in a different reality.

Along with Cesare Borgia the great man Da Vinci is one of my most interesting people to read about.  See our range HERE for the Tank and the man himself in 15mm scale.

Alternative Armies titles in print and digital download

I would like begin by thanking our customers for their continued support of Alternative Armies as we near 2020 while still expanding and adding new items every single month across many of our ranges.  We do not often speak of our game titles as an entity..but they are. These titles often link to a miniatures line such as Flintloque or Furioso or they stand alone for use with any miniatures such as USEME or Doom Squad.  We offer the books in print and we offer many of them as paid digital downloads too.

We have three collections of titles on the website which includes The Ion Age which returned to Alternative Armies this year.  Here are the direct links:

Here at Alternative Armies I am often the face of the company (and an ugly mug it is too!) the little arrowhead on black next to my name.  We like to talk about our miniatures, our games, ideas and more.  We have places for this and if you are keen I would welcome you there.  Here are the links.

Sengoku Monster Hunter expansion Rampage now released in print and as digital download

Written by Steve Danes and with artwork from Sam Croes and John Bell the expansion title to Sengoku Monster Hunter is now shipping worldwide in print after its pre-order offer and we are delighted now to release the book as a paid digital download too. The digital download version of this title is twenty percent less in price than in print as with our other digital books.  Go HERE for all our digital titles.

If you are not familiar with Sengoku Monster Hunter then you can read all about it on our website HERE.  It is a tabletop game in 15mm scale for one to four players where you take the part of a Hunter and seek out Japanese Mythological creatures who are terrorising the countryside.  The very nature of the game makes every play of it different and it has a loyal following.  The Sengoku 15mm Japanese Fantasy miniature range sculpted by John Bell has over one hundred and thirty different miniatures and its growing.  So what can you expect to find in the fifty two pages of Rampage?  Here is a run down with a couple of page images.  Go HERE to see those and more pages larger.

Rampage is the second book in the Sengoku Monster Hunter series; the game set in a mythical Japanese past of fierce monsters and even fiercer monster hunters. This is a supplement to the original rules and it provides much more material for playing Sengoku Monster Hunter. Players will need to be familiar with the original rules and will of course need the first book to be able to make use of Rampage.

More Monsters More Encounters
This includes a whole new batch of monsters such Rokurokubi, Tsurube-Otoshi, Nurikabe, Snakemen and more. There are also a whole new set of profiles for the various demons and devils that can be encountered, obviously all more powerful than those previously described - but with greater risks comes greater rewards! Also included are a new set of encounters that can be played out during the hunt such as the Soba Shop, Mile Markers, Police, Komuso Monks and many others. These new encounters will provide an interesting array of new challenges, distractions and even some benefits to the hunters on their expeditions.

New Hunters
As well as new monsters and new encounters, these rules contain new hunter types including the shape shifting Yokai and the dreaded Water Shadow Clan. Players who are familiar with the game and have their own favourite hunters can try their luck with these new characters and the new skills and abilities that they bring. This book also includes five new named characters, legendary hunters of old who continue to inspire new generations of hunters. Players can take these characters from their humble origins and turn them into the heroic hunters that they became.

New Hunting Grounds
These rules provide extensive details about a new hunting ground that players can try out - the dreaded wave washed caves of the Underworld. In this gloomy underground realm, not only are the hunters at risk from the hostile denizens of the caves but there is the dark and dangerous environment of the caves themselves with the ever present risk of rock falls, floods and the other more sinister consequences of the little understood Ghost Light. Only the bravest hunters will try out this new and hostile environment.

Monster Rampage!
Contained within these rules is a new way to play Sengoku. This is still a solo game but as the heading suggests, now the hunters face a different challenge, now there are more monsters, now it is the monsters that are on the attack. To coin a phrase - “now the hunters become the hunted”. Players may wish to ignore this section because it contains information that will put their cherished hunters at severe risk. In a Monster Rampage, hordes of monsters will try and overwhelm the stealthy hunter and exact severe and bloody retribution. I won’t be offended if players choose to avoid this section. But if players do take up this challenge they will find six new hunting scenarios plus additional material such as monster spells and all manner of other nastiness. You have been warned…

Gashadokuro giant skeleton of the dead in Sengoku Monster Hunter
This one page free article which adds to Rampage gives you the rules in play to field the biggest monster thus far in the game.  It includes monster tokens to add to your collection.  Download it from our website storage by CLICKING HERE.

Free Simple 20mm Grids for Sengoku Rampage
In your games of Sengoku Monster Hunter Rampage you can choose to fight in the Underground with all the hazards that presents.  You can use any squared grids or tiles in your collection but we are happy to present to you a free article containing simple grids of all the types of chambers and caverns you can expect in play. These simple 20mm grids work with the 15mm miniatures and can be reproduced as many times as you wish.  Download this article from our website storage by CLICKING HERE.
