Ion Age 28mm fifteen new Malig Space Goblins for the Shia Khan

The Maligs….Vermin. Savage and cruel with a taste for the sadistic and prone to acts of lunacy and utterly needless violence, the name given to their small green or mottled brown humanoids is Malig. Taken from records which make frequent mention of these creatures, second only to Legionaries, their name suits them. They are malicious and deadly. Maligs are Goblinoids and, while shorter and weaker than Humans, they are numerous in the extreme. Rather than seeming to define a formation many Legions treat a horde of Maligs as an attached source of cannon fodder. Cunning, cowardly but rather effective at killing, given superiority in numbers and opportunity, the Maligs should not be underestimated. With second rate armour and weapons and also some rather odd contraptions, the Maligs are often the bane of Planetary Militia or unfortunate Muster patrols. They are the lowest rung on the command ladder along with Betrayers.”

First new 28mm Malig Space Goblins in thirty years are here!  We have doubled the Goblins of the Khanate from the original fifteen by Kev Adams in the early 90’s to thirty poses with fifteen more by Sam Croes as three packs, as singles and as a platoon with two included free.  See the Shia Khan Empire in the massive 28mm Ion Age Range.

Shia Khan Empire 28mm Ion Age many new releases!

A bloody massive release today with not only the very last of the original 1990’s 28mm Ion Age Range being restored in new molds but also many new models too.  Legionary Gun Team along with the original two portable weapons and two further versions of each and a new propulsion system too.  Our final releases until the free Icon in every order ends on 3rd October.  These releases see us complete the upscaling of the 15mm Ion Age Range portable weapons.

If you would like to read in depth about the Selene and Hypnus and their use by the Shia Khan Empire then see this new ARTICLE.  Above a Hypnus platform on anti grav unit next to a hulking Warlord.

Six new platforms in 28mm scale to add to your Legions in support of your Legionaries, Malig Goblins, Betrayers and others in their task of conquering Humanity.  Every portable weapon and the anti gravity base is a value pack with saving and the Legion Gunners are a value pack and singles as with all other nearly 290 poses in the range.

Remastered and returned to the expanding 28mm Ion Age science fiction range are the original two terror robots known as Psycoborgs for the effect they have on Human troops. At 60mm tall these mechanical sentinels are heavily armed and very hard to stop. Unlike Maligs and Beotan Lyconthropes who rely on savagery and sheer numbers or the Legionaries who make use of skill these robots are silent in their actions.

Now with the restoration of the entire original range back to the website we are embarking on a raft of new infantry poses for the Prydians and the Shia Khan with something greatly asked for appearing in coming months...an entire platoon of them...

Thanks for Reading!

Selene and Hypnus Portable Weapons of the Khanate

Taken from Academy Auto Trainer Series 66 produced on New Glastonbury in 4337IC in the aftermath of the Return of the Khanate.

The first encounters with infantry support grade weapon platforms came with the initial break out from the Belkus Depression by those Shia Khan forces which had followed the digging machines.  Though a watch was kept on the edges of the crater, which has once been the famed passages of the labyrinth, by planetary defence platoons they were rapidly overwhelmed by the aliens which poured out into the sunlight.  The digging machines had no more than cleared their drive sections of the soft dirt and Legionaries as well as accursed Maligs followed them.  Being some distance off due to the background radiation left over by the detonation of the fusion core the defence troopers had time to made transmissions back to Pelacan city to inform and then call for reinforcements.  What was not expected from vids and audio from the gateway chamber was the immediate reach the enemy had.  It was the first encounter with code name Selene and code name Hypnus portable weapon platforms.

Floating forwards at a steady pace with two alien operators running alongside each of them the Selene platforms opened fire first upon elements of the 3rd Pelacan Regiment at a range beyond their ability to strike back.  A barrage of 20mm cannon shells and laser beams were followed by the shrieking rage of 12.7mm rounds by the thousand and it killed many of the troopers who were unable to find thick enough cover.  It was however once the aliens drew closer and the troopers loosed off anvil rounds and bursts of grenades from their Moth type 12's that the other Khanate platforms entered the fray.  The Hypnus have a single operator who seems to be bonded to the weapon platform by a chair behind a thick gun shield.  The weapons carried by the Hypnus are dangerous in their own right giving off in many cases a degree of radiation or gene potential damage.  Atomic Destabilisers and Triple Plasma mounts tore through Aketon armour and the hulls of a half dozen Steornede Battlesuits at close range with ease.  This led to the loss of the craters edge and marked the start of the remorseless advance of the aliens.  Portable weapon platforms have proven tough to deal with without armoured support and the Khanate makes great use of them especially in urban areas to hold taken junctions and structures.

There are six primary kinds of Portable Weapon used by the Shia Khan Empire in support of its Legions. The Selene is more plentiful and has been observed with Legionary Gunners as well as Maligs and even Betrayers.

“During the ancient Ban of Prejudice the Espaten was a powerful tool for support in the street fights which raged in underground cities across the Precinct.  In recent years the original gun has been present in all campaigns and it has been broadened as well.  To deal with Battlesuits and larger infantry formations as well as indirect fire missions there are now six variants.  These are  the same weapon systems as used by the new Havelock Type 57 being rolled out to Muster Regiments right now.”  Academy Auto-Trainer Series 07, New Glastonbury, 4325IC

The Prydian Army as well as the Marcher Barons and Condot Companies have an array of Portable Weapons to support their troops.

Combat Robots and Sentient Machines in The Ion Age read this Article on our Blog.

A special article for The Ion Age which tells the story of Combat Robots, the Grima series from concept to miniatures in two scales plus the story from the universe explaining why Artificial Intelligence (Sentient Machines) are outlawed in Prydian Space.

Warlords of the Shia Khan new big 28mm Ion Age releases and more

It was the appearance of Warlords among the ranks of the Khanate that led to the development of the Duxis and other marks of Battlesuits. Battlesuits are fashioned to be giant humanoids to wage war against actual giant humanoids. A nightmare of giants who could lift a man from the ground and smash him to pieces with ease. The Warlords are flesh and blood but hulking creatures much like a Human in form though standing twice or more the height of a man. They are commonly referred to as ‘Ogres’ and are another Khanate slave race. Warlords are often under the command of Legionaries and are used as the infantry hammer to smash into tough areas for the Khanate. They carry the largest of infantry and support type weapons such as the Maia 12.7mm Chain Cannon which is also found used in Legionary Portable Weapon Platforms. Not possessed of a great deal of intelligence they are, despite this, the most dangerous soldier yet encountered by the Prydian Army. Warlords operate in small groups of two to four or five within Legionary platoons and are never given command of even a force of that level.” - from The Khanate Return.

Big and Brutal it is our pleasure to present news and release for the Warlords of the Shia Khan in the  28mm Ion Age Range.  Now on the website are THREE different 45mm tall miniatures in both metal and now in resin versions too.  Metal for the purist and collector resin for everyone else.  While two of these three are the original 1990’s sculpts in new molds the third one, new IA239, was created by Matt Beauchamp (who has sculpted many miniatures for Flintloque including the Trolka) and fits right in!

Here are the codes which slide right into the more than two hundred and fifty poses of miniatures in the range.  Above you can see a Malig Space Goblin for scale against the Warlords.  You can see them all collected on the MALIG tag within the range.  The cannon fodder of the Khanate.

See everything SHIA KHAN in the range and all WARLORDS on these tags.  It is a big range!

IB36 Khanate Warlords (Three Metal Miniatures with Saving)  (IA136, IA137, IA239)

IB36R Khanate Warlords (Three Resin Miniatures with Big Saving) (IA136R, IA137R, IA239R)

IA136 Warlord with Mars 20mm Cannon

IA136R Warlord with Mars 20mm Cannon (Resin)

IA137 Warlord with Juno Laser Cannon

IA137R Warlord with Juno Laser Cannon (Resin)

IA239 Warlord with Atomic Disintegrator

IA239R Warlord with Atomic Disintegrator (Resin)

These are our sole 28mm Ion Age releases during the Spring Mega Event 2024 but have you seen how much the range has grown in the last year?  The Grima Combat Robots as singles, packs and platoon as well as Planetary Militia Support and Scout squads have all been added.  The fearsome Perimeter Borg has also been restored after near 30 years out of the range.  Great for any game system.

Thanks!

Perimeter Borg of the Khanate released 28mm Ion Age

"The crust of Selway Minor III is thick with the volcanic deposits needed for the intense production of titanium and this has made the planet extremely valuable; despite its extreme frigid nature.  Mines cover the planet’s surface like icebergs expanding deep into the dead rock.  The largest of these the Grefa Mega City called Gicela was also the oldest and was the first place the Shia Khan Empire appeared outside of the contained Camarthen Cluster.  Elite Legionary infiltrator teams were materialised by Matter Gateway projection from Camarthen Prime and while the failure rate of this method was vast several teams survived and began their work in the darkness of the deep shafts of Gicela.  It took them weeks to assemble the delicate parts each member of the four Legionary team had brought with them to establish a stable ‘door sized’ Matter Gateway and to begin to bring in the invasion force through it.

During these weeks the infiltrators grabbed men, women and children who wandered far or would not be missed.  These they quickly and crudely turned into Perimeter Borgs. Attaching a control unit to the skull and then grafting the head and vital parts into mechanised bodies thralled to the Legionaries control.  Tracked and carrying a heavy weapon these expendable wretches established a controlled zone allowing the Legionaries to work unmolested upon their goal.  These Borgs would not live more than a few weeks but that would be enough time.

The first encounters with Perimeter Borgs went badly for the security patrols sent to seek out those missing. The dispatching of Gicela Planetary Militia platoons established there was a credible threat from what was initially thought to be a small Gryre infestation.  Destroyed Borgs being taken miles up to the higher city established that it was actually the Shia Khan. The great enemy of Humanity."  Academy Auto-Trainer Series 61, New Glastonbury, 4345IC

We are delighted to present one of the rarest of the original 1990’s Ion Age models back into the world.  With the entire Ion Age 28mm range now in new molds and returned to the website as well as new releases taking it to over two hundred and fifty miniatures it is the ideal time for the Perimeter Borg!  Our sole sci-fi release for this month.

IA241 Perimeter Borg:  A multiple part resin and metal 28mm scale miniature.  Composed of four pieces (body, two tracks, head) easy to assemble.  Choose from a single model or a pack of four identical with a saving. A tracked cyber thrall with human head and Janus Blast Gun.  Dimensions assembled are 27mm tall, 25mm wide and 25mm deep.  Part of the Shia Khan Empire.

Shown above with a Human Betrayer (30mm total height) and a Psycoborg robot for scale comparison.

Not seen in the thousand years since the Ban of Prejudice the return of cyber thralls to Prydian Space came as an unpleasant surprise.  The Khanate incursion was thought to be contained in the Camarthen Cluster.  This was incorrect…  If you wish to see the Prydian Precinct as a whole (not just the small part seen here) then check out our PIA007 Poster which shows you all the star systems as an A3 print or a digital download.

Psycoborgs Terror Robots remastered for 28mm Ion Age

“The Shia Khan Empire is, despite its ancient age and mighty power, not a sophisticated enemy on most battlefields. It is surmised that this and their apparent lack of interest in the value of life is down simply to having such endless resources at their disposal. Able to throw the lives of their soldiers away without care they can just send more to the flesh grinder of war. So the presence of robots in the ranks of the Legions was a surprise to Prydian commanders. A most unwelcome surprise as it became clear that the purpose of the robots was to inspire terror in and then exterminate Humans.

Dubbed Psycoborgs due to their appearance, some two to three times the height of a Human and man-like in construction. Their heads being like a skull and one arm mounting a support grade weapon they also could quite literally inspire terror. An unknown technology radiates from each robot and makes concentration and bravery exceptionally hard for regular troops and challenging even for Retained Knights. Psycoborgs operate either as single hunters in low intensity combat zones also aiding the conversion of Human Betrayers or as small groups typically of three robots within a platoon. Betrayers never act alongside these robots and Maligs rarely to do so. Legionaries and others seem unconcerned by their terror inspiring abilities. They are incapable of command and are given their programme by their commander in the field.” - IAB03 The Khanate Return an expansion for Patrol Angis

Now remastered and returned to the expanding 28mm Ion Age science fiction range (over 230 poses) are the original two terror robots known as Psycoborgs for the effect they have on Human troops.  At 60mm tall these mechanical sentinels are heavily armed and very hard to stop. Unlike Maligs and Beotans Lyconthropes who rely on savagery and sheer numbers or the Legionaries who make use of skill these robots are silent in their actions.

See these along with the Malig Goblinoids, the Legionaries, the Nox and others in the range all under SHIA KHAN as value packs, saver platoons and single miniatures for the first time.

If you are 15mm player and a fan of Patrol Angis you will already know of IAF134 Psycoborgs which were inspired by the larger scale and are a pack of six or a single miniature.  Rules for these aliens exist in The Khanate Return book.

Legionaries of the Shia Khan pt12 the last of the Ion Age 28mm overhaul

Welcome to the final update at the end of the massive overhauling project of the 28mm Ion Age range.  We present twenty eight remolded Legionaries of the Khanate in packs and now singles with all new images. The last restoring in the over 220 poses of this venerable range.

"Shia Khan Legionaries. The main fighting formation used by the Khanate Empire is the Legion. Its exact structure is a mystery but what is known is that the majority of the troops in a Legion are Legionaries dressed in reactive glimmer suits with auto aid and breather systems in their helms. Legionaries operate in Tesserans of eight typically with mixed or similar weapons. There are also Monocycle and Deathwheel motorised sections along with portable weapons in a typical Legion. They are stubborn foes not given to easy retreat. Legionaries are taller than a Human and more lithe, graceful in their movements. Few are seen without their helmets but those observed have pointed ears and roughly Human features though their eyes are narrower and lilac hued, all matched with cruel mouths and angular noses and jaw lines."

Legionaries are the core of a Shia Khan Legion and are in command of Maligs and Betrayers along with Warlords and Psycoborgs and others.  The best of them become Nox and some become Assaulters and Pioneers too.  There are many Legions such as the Styx Legion, the Medusa Legion and the Cyclopes Legion.

On the website you can browse the range page by page or look to the 'filter by' option above the first line of products.  Click on it and select what interests you. In this case 'Legionary' or 'Value Pack' or 'Shia Khan' and 'Platoon Pack' to narrow the shown codes.

Betrayer Humans loyal to the Khanate pt9 Ion Age 28mm overhauling

"Betrayers of Humanity. Some might find it hard to believe that any Human would fight for the Khanate but it is a growing and alarming fact that wherever the Legions go they attract ‘Betrayers’. These men and women are somehow in the thrall of the Khanate and armed with their weapons turn their anger upon their former allies without pity. It is not known how this occurs exactly but it is thought that the Psycoborgs have something to do with the process. Ancient records were not clear on these traitors to their own species but they were present in large numbers and several planets are recorded to have fallen due to internal strife. Betrayers are not treated well by their Legionary overseers. While superior to Maligs they are just as expendable and have been seen with crude cybernetic alterations to their eyes and other body parts. No successful reversal of Khanate indoctrination has been carried out and Betrayers taken in battle will kill themselves given the first opportunity." - Taken from IAB03 The Khanate Return.

We continue with the Shia Khan Empire overhaul in the 28mm Ion Age range.  Following up on the Warlords and Pioneers we present the scum, the worst of the worst..the Betrayers.  Above you can see the excellent value IB04 Betrayer Ordos which contains sixteen different miniatures with two of them being free.
