THE EARL'S FAMILY BOMBERS - Winchester 73 - Worth b/w Drag - Love Your Reptile/How's Your School Been

From Arizona ,but immersed in the grunge scene of Seattle in the 90's ,the closest sound I can pinpoint on these guys ,is mid-era Supersuckers.Rockin' and alternative ,and the last track sounds as if it would be a medley of 2 songs ,but instead you get about a minute or so of feedback and noise! Not bad, from the $2.99 bin! Not much info on this group anywhere.1993 Empty Records

AWAY FROM THE PULSEBEAT -Compilation 7"

Included free with an issue of Away From The Pulsebeat Magazine,I've never come across the Redd Kross track on here, anywhere else, and seeing how Stevie Nicks is making the comeback with a new album,I figured this would be fitting..Pretty decent alt-rock.

WGOD #13 -GODCAST 6/2/1992

One of the earliest,(from when I began numbering the tapes, there were a ton of unnumbered volumes scattered round our town and the world!), WGOD radio tapes I could find in the vault( there may be earlier ones,I think I saw #6 down there!),I used to make these as mix tapes for friends, and I gave away a ton of them, and never made copies of them,so if you have one,it's the only one of it's kind.Don't get the wrong idea about the call letters,I have nothing to do with church, christ, religion,or any of that shit,I chose the name GOD because I play the best tunes, the "god"head of music!(and also so the people of the world would no longer have to worship "false" gods!) On here I play classic punk stuff as well as what was then current alternative and punk music, wih some dub and rap mixed in.Always a surprise, this is before I got my M.C. , Doug Shannon, who worked as a d.j. at the local oldies station, and made tapes of liners and drops ,for use between songs I played on the air.No track list, but I will tell you what's playing,if you listen!Tell me you love it,and I'll post more! I've got tons of 'em!
I LIED!! Here's the track list:

CAT MACHINE - Dr. Bellows

One of the "must-have" ,tapes in the Cat Machine collection, for a number of reasons.First off,the guests:on disc one,it's Ed J.,and Tony Rizzo, with guests :Dave Roth (who is here for the duration of this recording!),Tall Ray,and Nathan, who chime in on a few songs, you can tell by Nathan's goofy voices, and disc two is :Ed J.,Tony and Joel Rizzo,Dave Roth, and on the last 2 tracks Matt and Frank,of The Headlaunchers! The last track is another of those,"Everyone read something different, out loud,at the same time",things, which we always seemed to do.Some of the best songs ever are on this thing,:"Tore My Hair Out Today" , "Blinky" , "Triggernometry" , "Trying To Shit An Old Turd" , "Behind The Oven" , "Rum's Gonna Rain" , among other great ditties! But the guests are the main thing here,Dave Roth is a genius (find his solo album on this blog!),Nathan and Ray are local legends,Matt and Frank, hippies jamming in a smelly room.I highly recommend this release, especially if you are just discovering Cat Machine,as the tunes here are striving for underground excellence.Recorded straight to boom box at Cat Machine house,12/29/1990 .Stay tuned for more from this exciting outsider band, and their continuing exploits!! hear the album of the year for 1990!!

HAPPY EVER AFTER

The first single from these German folk, released in 1989,on X-Mist records.Weird Sonic Youth/Superchunk vibe I get from this.Kinda fits in with the alternative music of the 90's.Bizzare lyrics, about what,I don't know, but a lyric sheet is in the zip. They only did one more 7" split with another band, and 1 LP.Strangeness.

CAT MACHINE - Beer For Breftiks

Continuing the year-long series, here's the core of Ed,Joel, and Tony with their 6th tape,(recorded straight to boom box) from November of 1990.There are revisions of tunes from the previous tapes,as well as a slew of new songs.Got some hardcore going on with ditties like,"SSAACOP" ("Shit Sandwich and a Cup Of Piss,Scab Sandwich and a Cup Of Pus"),with Joel on vox,"Shit Lipstick",and," I'm Dead Serious"."Dave Kendall" of MTV'S 120 Minutes fame,is spoofed here(twice! once in an extended mix!),and there are ,of course, more versions of live staples,"Queen Turd Of Shit Hill",and "Crazy Mary".They really started to grow a sound here, settling in to a comfortable groove, that would carry them thru the next year. Each tape seems to get progressively better."Crude Being Made Flesh",ends this tape, with more of the boys trademark "everybody read something out loud at the same time" thing which they did frequently.Next tape is dated 11-10-90,"Unplugged",mostly acoustic, with many special guests.See ya next week with that masterpiece!Till then, grab this here treasure.

WILLIAM WESLEY & THE TINY SOCKETS-the teething tapes-2005-07

This was the first recording i heard from my pal Wes,of Pounding Mill,(formerly of Paint Lick)Virginia.he's building him a building right now,on his dad's land,to live in.A very prolific performer,he plays out live a lot,and has been a lot of places. This disc is a comp from several releases:"You're Older Than Your Teeth","Second Serving","Split with Albert Fish & the Presbyterian Church",I Don't Ever Want To See Your Face Again",a track from a Chaotic Underworld noise comp.,and a bunch of unreleased stuff. To me ,I hear Box Elder-era Pavement, with Daniel Johnston on vocals.Even the song titles and lyrics are very Daniel Johnston to the max!Very indie/alt,lotsa noisieness, but it's like noise-pop,not so annoying you would turn it off, more than likely you would turn it UP!!!And the little phone calls, skits, audio verite, in between, during, and after songs ,presents a real slice of americana, best heard thru open kitchen windows ,with pies cooling on the ledge.A true American underground legend,a real folk singer ,for now times.Try this out for size, along with the above posts,Wes will be sending more stuff. He also appears on,"We Want Our Life Back-The BP Oil Protest Compilation",below, with a jingly little tune ,that passes by like a caffiene breeze. visit Wes and be his friend on myspace at:www.myspace.com/thetinysockets

HEADLAUNCHERS

this little combo sprang up from joel, and i believe(joel correct me if i'm wrong)frank t.,tall ray, mike mezaros(mcschwuggles),someone else i can't recall, and later ,chipmunk.kinda alternative /psych/grunge/schwag ,with keys, guitar, bass, drums, and some vocals, where i think everyone gets a turn or two in some cases.really introspective, real life situationists, who could jam a carrot or a hat box,if no actual instruments were readily available.a cover of "wipe out" is included, kinda velvet/sonic/butts sound goin' down,i'm sure joel could add some commentary in the comments box below.check that for more info!for now, just slip this on and relax!

VITREOUS HUMOR

after miasma, this band formed from the wreckage.mike griffin, dave roth, and john bevins, evolved a little here from their earlier hardcore punk roots.this is kinda alternative before it was.a horrible version of smoke on the water(very punk!)and some great sing-a-longs like dave's"tell me what you do for me".a synth number from michael, and lots more great early(1981-82)punk from the ft.myers scene.some of this was recorded at sound check studios, some in mike's bedroom.

GIRLS U.S.A.-take a big lick

this is girls u.s.a.,kinda like soundtracks mashed together with samples added and guitars, vanessa del rio on synths and keys, samantha fox on samples and drums, and barbara moose on guitars.we used this tape to procure a gig at an "alternative"club, got the gig, then played punk rock which sounded nothing like this recording, kinda techno, plunderphonics, funky strange, and weird.headphones will enhance your experience.porn aerobics videos, the black gestapo and other blaxploitation flicks, ren and stimpy, interviews with gacy and henry lee lucas, godzilla and more are sampled.think about that combo .really good and different than anything you've ever heard.enjoy .G O D.
