BLOODPONIES - Universal Nerve Thing

3 wandering minstrel-like tracks ,that once again are culled from the same well as early David Jones (later name-change to Bowie ,as to distinguish himself from the singer of the then popular Monkees!) .Kinda sounds as if these tracks were recorded in the atmosphere shown in the cover art. Floating above the Earth in a tin can ,singing and playing away ,like there's no tomorrow (and maybe there's not!). Bitchin' stuff from a prolific artist ,man this guy gets around!

NACHO KNEES

The debut of a new band ,featuring Jake ,most famous for his band ,Seasonal Men's Wear ,but active in several other outfits ,and Mix Master Toilet Wig , back in action after being freeze-dried for over 24 years! Jake handles the vocal duties on all but 2 tracks, Food Fortunata lends his instantly recognizable voice to ,"New Year's Eve" , while G O D sings on the devolved destruction of a Bowie song ,re-tooled here as ,"Shitty Starbucks". Mix Master Toilet Wig ,plundered all the music from various porno soundtracks ,for this celebration of the seasons ,and holidays ,and human interactions.Kinda techno/disco/dance mixed with tardcore! A great start to a band ,whose next album ,"Porno Elevator" ,will be posted here ,sometime this year! Keep your eyes open ,and don't trip over the couch with a tray full of nachos! Art by G O D. BLOODPONIES - Mayflower

The first self-released Bloodponies tape ,on his own Gainmas Industries label ,recorded on Earth Day 2008 ,Dylan is in his wandering minsterel/traveling troubador mode ,throughout. The tales he spins ,set to his own acoustic guitar's magical tones ,will draw you in to his world."The Merry Gallows" ,one of my faves here ,is reminiscent of a young David Jones (a/k/a Bowie) ,with fey english accent ,and vivid imagery in the lyrics ,as with all the lyrics in these tunes.Great drinkin' music ,mellow and violent all at once!

My new pal ,Dylan Houser ,did this neat-o little 3-inch ,mini-disc of cool acoustic-pop. Reminds me of a conglomeration of early Bowie acoustic sides/Sebadoh/Syd Barrett/Faine Jade/Billy Bragg/Robyn Hitchcock ,and more! Really good stuff, I will be posting more from Dylan. I met him at The St. Pete Noisefest ,last weekend ,after he had already sent in a Cat Machine cover,(he does,"Trying To Shit An Old Turd" ,as another of his bands ,Hell Garbage(see post above this!)) for the tribute. Cool guy ,very talented ,master of all he surveys. Wait'll you hear this!

VANCE BURDGE-early solos

Vance is one of my best buds.We were in tons of projects together,but I'm not on this at all.But Nathan Adams,Eric'Trig'Triglet,and Nick Dunphee,do help out a little.About 50/50 on originals vs. covers.Some of the covers are from David Bowie,Love and Rockets,Christian Death,Black Sabbath,the Beatles,Bauhaus,the Go-Go's,and Vanilla Ice.You can kinda tell why we called him 'The Count',due to his affinity for goth.The Go-Go's ,Vanilla Ice,and Bauhaus numbers are parodies about local luminaries such as Shawn,Splashman,and Guy Gentry.There's also a hilarious imitation of Nick Dunphee on, 'Nick the What?'He leads off with the only country song I think he ever recorded,and goes into his goth styled tunes,some real trippin'stuff,and all those ace covers.Check his name on this blog ,He's probably in half the bands featured here!A fantastic all around friend,musician,singer,and the best engineer /soundman we had.A very accomplished artist.
