CHARLIE POOLE AND THE NORTH CAROLINA RAMBLERS - Vol.2 -Old Time Songs Recorded from 1925-1930

This relic goes out to my pal John (Kaagootaabaa) ,because he is a North Carolinian ,and his last name might be Poole? (never asked him!). From the Spray/Leaksville area of central NC. If I were you ,I'd download this ,and seek out volumes 1 and 3 from this man, pronto! On County Records (County 509) ,outta NY(??!!) from ,I think ,1967. I've seen this record on the web ,but never with this cover ,or catalog number.Found it next to The Foster Family String Band album ,while thrifting ,50 cents. "If The River Was Whiskey",is my new theme song! John ,you must hear this ,and I'd like to suggest that you cover a few of these ditties!

HEARSE - Hot Rod Hearse b/w Tomato Beach

For Halloween ,this sounds suitable.What's more halloweeny than a hearse? Really weird sounding ,as if Chris D. ,of the Flesheaters ,and El Duce ,of the Mentors (which is vocally,not lyrically,what they sound like) , decided to do a band together. And,oh yeah ,if they were from the NJ/NY area. Complete with nazi lifeguard ,and killer tomatoes on back cover!

MISFITS - Eyes To Despise

A rare double-album boot! Compiled from several other boots,this has demos,live shows ,and "Return Of The Fly" ,which was unreleased at the time(1990).The track list is mostly right ,it lists 49 tracks ,when there are actually 53 cuts! I fixed it on the mp3's ,like you don't already know these songs! Doyle signed it on the bottom of the eyeball to the left (see close-up), and it's on Johnson Records of NY. Not a bad comp. I've heard much worse. There are a couple of skips and some surface noise ,but,alas, it was pressed on inferior vinyl.This is only my second or third time playing it in 20 years. I left in every second of Doyle tuning up between nearly every song ,cuz' that's the way their shows were ,and I'm going for the full effect! Halloween is nigh ,and I will be posting more related stuff ,another Misfits covers comp. and a Halloween collection akin to last year's ,"Music To Eat Brains To" ,compilation!

MISFITS - vampira

It's October,and all thru the month I will be sprinkling the blog with Halloween related music.Lets start off with this compilation of tracks from 4 different bootlegs from the Misfits.Spanning from 1979 to 1983, there are live songs from NJ,NY,and MI,plus some demos from Ambionic Studios.I have lots more Misfits boots for ya,too!On Baby Face Records.How about that cheezy logo,and skull,wtf is that??!!?I just saw a recent picture of Danzig,with a Danzig t-shirt on,coming out of the grocery store with a bag of cat litter! I hope he's making bombs with it!
