WGOD TIME MACHINE : 1982 VOL.1 PODCAST 9-26-2016

A new series in WGOD podcasts! I will focus on a target year for each show in this series.I start with 1982 ,as I was influenced by a song list posted by Frank Oblak on his facebook page ,of e.p.'s from 1982.I played a couple sets of his picks on a previous podcast,and he has a couple more sets featured here ,right off the top! I am specifically playing e.p.'s and demo tapes from the year 1982 on this show.This is Volume 1 of 1982 ,I will be doing a few more shows from 1982 as well! Then we shall see where the time machine takes us from there!Al Quint said ,"1981 was a pivotal year in music" ,and he wrote an article about it somewheres,and told me not to forget 1981! I will not forget,Al!! In 1982 I turned 18 ,graduated high school ,and had a punk rock summer to the max!! Was listening heavily to the "Not So Quiet On The Western Front" compilation ,Black Flag,Germs,Minor Threat,MDC,Dead Kennedys,Beach Blvd. compilation,Surf Punks,Motorhead, and lots more music ,some you will hear on this podcast! MISFITS - Eyes To Despise

A rare double-album boot! Compiled from several other boots,this has demos,live shows ,and "Return Of The Fly" ,which was unreleased at the time(1990).The track list is mostly right ,it lists 49 tracks ,when there are actually 53 cuts! I fixed it on the mp3's ,like you don't already know these songs! Doyle signed it on the bottom of the eyeball to the left (see close-up), and it's on Johnson Records of NY. Not a bad comp. I've heard much worse. There are a couple of skips and some surface noise ,but,alas, it was pressed on inferior vinyl.This is only my second or third time playing it in 20 years. I left in every second of Doyle tuning up between nearly every song ,cuz' that's the way their shows were ,and I'm going for the full effect! Halloween is nigh ,and I will be posting more related stuff ,another Misfits covers comp. and a Halloween collection akin to last year's ,"Music To Eat Brains To" ,compilation!

BLONDIE - Punk Goddess - Live,Interviews,Rare,Demos

Hey,I found this tape,in a box load of unlabled tapes,and I probably recorded it off the radio in the early 80's. I don't think you'll find this anywhere else! I kept the recording intact ,as one track ,which runs almost a half-hour. It sounds like the ,"Eat To The Beat" tour,and they do some songs you may not have heard before. I also included a file of early demos ,and a slideshow of 100 of my favorite images of Debbie Harry! Some nude shots from different eras,and a bunch of sexy photos. The pic I used above,is nowhere on the web,until now. It came from an old ,"KISS" ,fan magazine ,Peter Criss is on the back of Debbie! It's my favorite photo of her ,I've had it since the late 70's! STRYKER - Ride The Lightning

This is an extremely rare collection of,demos,out-takes ,and unreleased stuff ,from my high school chum's band ,Stryker. I know many people out there are looking for more of this classic mid-80's hard rock/heavy metal band. This is after the album was released,and Steve and Sarah were living on the fish farm.Sarah sings in her Pat Benatar/Lita Ford style, Steve does some vocals,and he brought in another singer,I think his name was Mark? He sounds like Rob Halford of Judas Priest fame,and the music is of the same mold.There is some humor ("Frogheads",about old folks) ,an Alice Cooper chestnut, some instrumentals,and a few songs that almost resemble Rush! "The Last Free Man" ,is close to sounding similar to Rush's "Tom Sawyer",and "Spirit" ,is also in that realm.This is the only copy of these recordings,and on my posting of their only album , I included 10 more unreleased tracks,in case you didn't notice, (get it here :http://www.mediafire.com/?nndtl2igtgz) ,which are in line with what we have here.Last I heard ,Steve was composing music for various video games. I'd like him to contact me ,and maybe I can get some more Stryker stuff from him! BIRTHDAY PARTY - Rare,Live,& Demos

There are 3 rare recordings included here.First, "The Black Mass Has Started",which is what Nick Cave says at the beginning of this live recording,right after he asks,"Why are there only 12 of you?",to which an audience member replies,"But we'll make the noise of a thousand people!".Recorded by my old friend,Leo Johnson,when he traveled to London.He said it was a small,almost,cabaret,with cocktail tables in front of the stage,from where he recorded this masterpiece.May 26,1982 ,London,
Hammersmith,Clarendon Ballroom.Most of Junkyard is covered,with a few from Prayers On Fire.And a fine cover of The Loved Ones ,"Sad Dark Eyes".I don't believe either of these live shows have ever been released,in any form.The other live show(as well as the demos) ,"Ready As We'll Ever Be"(something said by a band member right before starting "Rowland Around In That Stuff") is from I believe a boot tape stand that Leo also went to in London,at a flea market,or something.Recorded June 12,1981 ,London,West Hampstead ,Moonlight Club ,mostly Prayers On Fire and earlier,and a few of Junkyard's songs.A few glitches in the tape,but great sound.Missing the last 3 songs from the show."God Damned Demos" follows most of the same tracks as The Peel Sessions ,but 2 songs at the end are different.It's a boot,whattya want for free? A rather muddy sounding demos record,sounds as if it was mastered from an old cassette tape that was on someone's floor ,after a million rowdy parties,and a million spilled pints.Still an important document of early UK punk.Put out by McDonald Brothers Corpration ,they try to make their logo look like the BBC.Released in 1987 on Jock Records out of England.Rare,and punk rock!

RED CROSS-born innocent demos

Back when they were still in high school,before the American Red Cross had them change their name,they were punk rockers.There are 4 songs here that ended up on the born innocent lp,but these are much rawer and different versions.There are also 2 unreleased gems here,"It Don't Matter",and,"Fuck This Shit!",and they really cook!If they only could've stayed young forever,this could be the sound of today!
