MY HOUSE AND SOME RANDOMNESS

It sure felt good to stay home for a weekend......and even managing to get a few things done.  I rarely make any changes around the house because when I do have the time I am just too tired to execute!

BUT.....some friends of mine were coming in town and wanted to spend the night so I had to step up.

That caused me to to the quickest zhush I could think of.....besides getting the vacuum out and mopping the floors.....I changed out 2 pillows.

Earth-shattering.

The black and white pillows are from Sugar Feather....the textured one from HomeGoods and the black and cream pillow is from The Mart.  I had the black and cream ticking slipcover done a while back and I love it.  The blanket is from BoBo Intriguing Objects.

I should have spent more time on these pics :)
But you get the drift.....

Then I hi-tailed it over to Target like it was the last day in business and they were closing the doors forever.

Snagged this little black and white beauty.  Whew...got the last one.

Sunday Supper at my neighbors....if you saw my instastories then you know how pretty it was!

Great desert for crowds!

Ice Cream Pie.  Very simple.
Oreo cookie crust pie
Chocolate Chip Ice cream installed [decorator talk] after a little softening.

Sauce [heat on the stove]:
1 stick of butter
2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Pour over the pie and add whip cream.
Die.

My neighbor had a low country boil and everyone brought a dish.  Except me [cause my friends know I really don't cook!]  I brought these Trader Joe's Sweet and Spicy Pecans.

Crack.

Speaking of food....still on WW [started April 1st].  Down 8 pounds which really is no big deal cause I was telling someone that now I am just at my post vacation weight [you know the weight you gain while on vaca] and my goal is pre-vacation weight!

So I think I will stay on it for another month and see what happens.

I bought a dress.  Crazy huh.  I NEVER WEAR DRESSES.

On the way down to the beach we stopped off at the Idea House I am working on.

I have the tower which is giving me nightmares thinking about going up and down the stairs on install day.....

It's 2 floors.  In August.  I'll be sweating.

I went through a friends kitchen project....love the hood!

And that's it for now.....

Back to more relevant topics on the next post.

BEFORE AND AFTER

Just when you think I am done sharing rooms.....here comes another one:)

Yep.  The house that keeps on giving.

While the push was on to complete the upstairs before the Cathedral Tour....I scrambled to finish 4 rooms.  One of them was the girls loft which is an area in-between the bedrooms where they can hang out and watch TV.

Here is the room during construction!

And below is the before....where all of the leftover furniture kind of got dumped.  Lets see what we can do with it:)
The goal was to edit out what would probably not work and pull the space together without breaking the bank....cause that is always the goal right:)  I mean who says "let's redecorate and break that bank".....Call me if you are that client.... hee haw

You remember when I told you that there were 2 of these Mitchell Gold sofas from the previous family room.  The other one was recovered here

I found some fabric and had my trusty slipcover guy come and work his magic.

See these chairs in the sunroom of their previous home?

We reused them in this space....
I found the 3 prints at the mart and the lamps at Target!  Of course new shades from Pottery Barn helped.

This bench got a little love in the form of some faux croc from Lewis and Sheron Textiles.

The round white end tables came from the Mitchell Gold winter clearance!  These days it's nice to add some modern to a space.

One of my favorite things about this area are the functioning windows that open to the stairs.  The TV stand is Bernhardt Interiors.

You can just see the glass half wall behind the sofa.  The curtains start here and go all the way to the first floor dining room!

This alcove was built for this antique buffet.

The hand painted herringbone stripes!  Bernhardt Interiors chest.  Lily Harrington art.

And that's it.  No more undecorated spaces for me to post about in this house:(   I worked it though!

Look at my sweet baby sleeping....

I want to eat that face.

DETAILS FROM THE ORC

Well that sure was fun.....  Reading all of the wonderfully kind comments about my sisters makeover!  I can tell you that she is thrilled and said that she just wants to stay home all day in her pretty room....ha ha:)

As promised I have some details for you today.  There were a few questions so hopefully I can give you the info you are looking for.

Let's start with some of the reasons for things.

In the beginning I mentioned that the room is very awkward.

The fireplace is NOT centered in the room.  There is that dead space in front of the hearth where it would be great if you could have some seating.

Taking out the window seat really helped to be able to move the whole room to the right.  All of that being said....even putting a rug in the room presented some problems with it coming to a point in the middle of the hearth!

Crap

Why am I saying all of this....because sometimes you just have to work with what you have.  For extra seating I did choose to have a wing chair recovered and placed over by the bookcases.

Yup this is the before!  I called my trusty slipcover guy [Jim Brown] on Tuesday [who comes on site to do this] and he came on Thursday [after I made a trip to the fabric store Wednesday to get some fabric].  What I picked was a linen/cotton that was backed so she will have to dry-clean it but at a little over $10.00@yard I did not have time to think about it!

I had him just rip off the skirt!

I also had the skirted ottoman slipcovered in a more modern style.  Pillow is old from Pottery Barn.  Throw is from HomeGood's.

Another thing we did was stain the mantel darker...
See how red it is?  It got a coat of Old English...

The same day I drove to get the slipcover fabric I stumbled on this great trim for the curtains...at Fabric and Fringe Warehouse.

The lighting was a last minute decision also.  I had 3 selections but these from Ikea worked the best!
I really did not know what I was going to do with these shelves but while at Ikea I saw these pitchers and they were the perfect color!

I also got the jars there but the black and white bowls came from HomeGood's.

The black and white pillows came from West Elm I think last year....yes I buy random pillows occasionally :)

The art came from Minted [except the far left which my sister whipped up for me].  The small round mirror came from Target about 8 years ago ha ha. Hoarder collector.

OK....I think that is everything.  I did spend the bulk of my budget on furniture.  To me that is the most important thing in the room....especially one that is going to be used so much.  Just saying!

Again thanks to all of my sponsors for enabling me to give my sister her new space.  So appreciative.

I am digging into the ORC linking projects this weekend.  I have already seen some great spaces so go take a look!

Have a wonderful weekend my friends:)
