Διάφανα Κρίνα: Δισκογραφία (Albums 1996 - 2003)

 

Diafana Krina (Greek: Διάφανα Κρίνα, which translates in English as 'Transparent Lilies') was a

Greek rock group. It consisted of Thanos Anestopoulos (vocals, acoustic guitar, piano), Pantelis Rodostoglou (bass), Nikos Bardis (electric guitar, trumpet), Kyriakos Tsoukalas (electric guitar), Tassos Machas (drums) and (from 1996 until 2000) Panagiotis Berlis (keyboards, vocals). Their special characteristic (apart from their distinct baritone voice of Anestopoulos) is that they set to music poems (most written by bassist Rodostoglou) rather than usual lyrics. 
                              

Τα Διάφανα Κρίνα ήταν ένα από τα πιο γνωστά ελληνικά συγκροτήματα της Εναλλακτικής Ροκ και

Νιου Γουέιβ (new wave) μουσικής. Αποτελούνταν από τους Θάνο Ανεστόπουλο (φωνή, ακουστική κιθάρα, φυσαρμόνικα, πιάνο), Νίκο Μπαρδή (κιθάρες, τρομπέτα, κρουστά, μεταλλόφωνο), Κυριάκο Τσουκαλά (κιθάρες, πλήκτρα, κρουστά, γεννήτρια ήχων), Παντελή Ροδοστόγλου (ηλεκτρικό μπάσσο), Τάσο Μαχά (τύμπανα, κρουστά) και τον Παναγιώτη Μπερλή (φωνή, πλήκτρα).
                        

Τα Διάφανα Κρίνα σχηματίστηκαν το 1991 και το 1994 κυκλοφόρησαν τον πρώτο τους δίσκο από τη δισκογραφική εταιρεία Wipe Out, το single Λιώνοντας μόνος/Κάτω απ' το ηφαίστειο. Το 1996, με

την προσθήκη του Παναγιώτη Μπερλή στα πλήκτρα, κυκλοφόρησαν το δίσκο Έγινε η απώλεια συνήθεια μας. Το 1997 συμμετείχαν στο φεστιβάλ Rockwave Festival, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο γήπεδο του Απόλλωνα Αθηνών στην Ριζούπολη, μαζί με συγκροτήματα όπως οι The Sisters of Mercy. Το 1998 κυκλοφόρησαν το δίσκο Κάτι σαράβαλες καρδιές και την ίδια χρονιά έδωσαν την πρώτη τους συναυλία στο club «ΡΟΔΟΝ». Το 1999 άνοιξαν τη συναυλία των Tindersticks στη μουσική σκηνή «Σφεντόνα», στη Λεωφόρο Αλεξάνδρας.
                           

Το 2000, μετά την αποχώρηση του Παναγιώτη Μπερλή από το συγκρότημα, διέκοψαν τη συνεργασία τους με την Wipe Out, ίδρυσαν τη δική τους δισκογραφική εταιρεία, την This Is My Voice Records, και κυκλοφόρησαν το single Είναι που όλα ήρθαν αργά. Τον Οκτώβριο του 2000

κυκλοφόρησε ο δίσκος Ευωδιάζουν αγριοκέρασα οι σιωπές, ενώ στο τέλος του ίδιου έτους διασκεύασαν το τραγούδι Θάνατος του Παύλου Σιδηρόπουλου για τη συλλογή της EMI Στον Π - Αφιέρωμα Στον Παύλο Σιδηρόπουλο. Το 2001 κυκλοφόρησε ο δίσκος Καινούργιος τόπος/Κάτω απ' το ηφαίστειο, ως ένθετο στο περιοδικό Fractal Press. Το 2002 ο Θάνος Ανεστόπουλος έκανε ακουστικές εμφανίσεις με την κιθάρα του στο bar «Closer» στην Αθήνα, ενώ στο τέλος της ίδιας χρονιάς τα Διάφανα Κρίνα έγραψαν τη μουσική για το θεατρικό έργο Δεσποινίς Τζούλια.
                                       

Στα μέσα του 2003 κυκλοφόρησε από την This Is My Voice Records ο δίσκος Ό,τι απόμεινε απ' την ευτυχία. Το 2004 το συγκρότημα πραγματοποίησε συναυλίες σε όλη την Ελλάδα, με ενδεικτικό το

γεγονός ότι το 2001 είχαν πραγματοποιήσει 170 συναυλίες σε όλη τη χώρα.[εκκρεμεί παραπομπή] Το 2005 κυκλοφόρησε το βιβλίο/CD Ο γύρος της μέρας σε 80 κόσμους από την εκδοτική εταιρεία Ίνδικτος. Τον Νοέμβριο του 2008 κυκλοφόρησε ο δίσκος Κι η αγάπη πάλι θα καλεί. Την 1η Ιουνίου 2009, τα Διάφανα Κρίνα ανακοίνωσαν μέσω της επίσημης ιστοσελίδας τους τη διάλυσή τους, με την ανακοίνωση να υπογράφεται από όλα τα μέλη εκτός από τον Θάνο Ανεστόπουλο.
                               

Ο Θάνος Ανεστόπουλος γεννήθηκε στην Αλεξανδρούπολη στις 3 Φεβρουαρίου του 1967 και

απεβίωσε στις 3 Σεπτεμβρίου 2016 από καρκίνο. Ο Ανεστόπουλος θεωρούσε ότι «η θρησκεία είναι η μεγαλύτερη και η πιο επιτυχημένη απάτη όλων των εποχών» και ότι «δεν θα υπάρξει ποτέ θρησκεία ανώτερη απ’ την αλήθεια». Για την πολιτική ανέφερε πως «είναι η τέχνη του ψέματος και της ψευδαίσθησης».

New wave is a music genre that encompasses pop-oriented styles that emerged in the mid- to late 1970s as a lighter and more melodic "broadening of punk culture". The term new wave initially held distinct

regional differences between the United States and United Kingdom. In the US, "new wave" had originally been used by music critics to label New York punk bands during the early-to mid 1970s. The term was later adopted by Sire Records founder Seymour Stein, who launched the "Don't Call It Punk" campaign in October 1977 to replace "punk" with "new wave". In the UK, new wave was less rooted in punk and had a more diverse definition. Over time, the genre became a catch-all for several musical styles that emerged after the initial popularity of punk rock, such as synth-pop, alternative dance and post-punk.

The Underground Youth: 6 Albums 2013 - 2021

 

The Underground Youth is a British band based in Berlin, their music touches on different genres

including psychedelia and post punk. The Underground Youth was started in 2008 as the creative project of Craig Dyer. The band have released 13 albums and 4 EPs, over the years developing their unique sound, which has ranged from cinematic lo-fi psychedelia to a raw and noisy, albeit romantically melancholic, form of post-punk. 
                      

Shrouded in a dark aesthetic and the imagery of various art film movements, The Underground Youth

have established a devoted global following and cult fan base, continuously built upon by their extensive touring schedule through Europe, Asia and North America. Signed to independent record label Fuzz Club Records in 2012,  Alongside Dyer, The Underground Youth is comprised of drummer and visual artist Olya Dyer, guitarist Leonard Kaage (who also assisted with post-production on the record) and bassist Samira Zahidi. 
              

Initially formed as a solo project by Dyer in 2008, the band has sinced released 11 – now 12 –

studio albums and 4 EPs, evolving a unique sound that has over the years ranged from cinematic lo-fi psychedelia and raw melancholic post-punk to gothic folk-noir. Throughout they have maintained a devoted global following continuously built upon by the band’s extensive touring through Europe, Asia and North America.
              

From humble beginnings as a one-man project alone in his house, Craig Dyer has built The

Underground Youth from the ground up. Having recently signed with Fuzz Club Records The Underground Youth are in the process of re-releasing their first five self-released albums as well as recording new material. An unstoppable juggernaut that refuses to be ignored, subtly understated,

melancholy and at once uplifting and empowering, The Underground Youth are proving to be one of the most talented and versatile bands from the already ridiculously amazing UK psych scene. With influences ranging from Joy Division to The Velvet Underground, The Underground Youth's music resonates with fans who appreciate raw emotion and thought-provoking lyrics.

02. THE UNDERGROUND YOUTH - SADOVAYA 2014

                 

As the record approaches its ten-year anniversary, we’re extremely excited to be repressing perhaps one of, if not the definitive, The Underground Youth record; 2010’s ‘Sadovaya’. A masterclass in the lo-fi psychedelic post-punk that the band cultivated in their earlier works, the album will get its second

pressing after we issued it to vinyl for the first time back in 2014 (now, of course, long sold-out.)  Looking back on the album, Craig Dyer recalls: “If memory serves, though it doesn't always, the songs on "Sadovaya" were written between my hometown of Blackpool and St. Petersburg, Russia, which I visited a number of times during this period. The album title was taken from the historically significant street, Sadovaya Ulitsa, close to which Olya and I stayed on one of my visits. We also stayed a number of times at the Art House Hotel, from where the title of the albums opening track 'Art House Revisited' came from.”

03. THE UNDERGROUND YOUTH - HAUNTED 2015

                      

One of the best Post-Punk albums in the lasts years. A dark jewel. All tracks are absolutely

awesome. Favorite track: Returning To Shadow a strong, complex red wine, candles all around and... dark dreaming.. that's it ! The aim became to create a collection of songs and attempted to dissect not only the positive but the negative elements of nostalgia, primarily the romanticisation of the past – be it the politics of a country, the controversial legacies of film and musical icons or the sentimental idealisation of long dead toxic relationships.

8th album from this Berlin-via-Manchester band who play mysterious songs with a darkly haunted,

low-key aura. These are gloomy psychedelic pop rumblings for depressed people floating in an emotional opiate haze. Sometimes, when the rhythm kicks in, the skeletons dance with a hopeless post-Goth fervor. Melodies lope along with a hypnotic chug in a slurred psycho-drone lethargy. Sounds get tired of what they’re doing and seek an eerie hypno-dissonant release. Craig Dyer’s baritone voice is a buried plea for spiritual connection, a desert cowboy lost in the eternal sands of time. Reminiscent of

bands like King Dude, The Velvet Underground, Phil Shoenfelt, Leonard Cohen, Psychic Ills, Lee Hazelwood (who has a song covered here). “What Kind Of Dystopian Hellhole Is This?” is an incredibly beautiful, scarily real and masterfully addictive listen. It’s the kind of album that will make your heart shudder and your soul throb with a subtly invasive auditory power. One of 2017’s best! Highly Recommended.
