Yell-O-Yell: Shoot The Truth (Vinyl 7'', Single) 1982

Post-Punk/Darkwave band formed in 1982 in Athens, Greece. They were the first group that signed at the legendary Creep Records. They made a lot of appearances along with 'Headleaders' and 'Villa 21'. On 12/2/1983 and 20/11/1983 they performed live at 'Σοφίτα' club (Athens), along with 'Villa 21'. On 4/2/1984 they performed live at Cine Louiza (Vyronas, Athens), along with 'Cpt Neφos', 'Χωρίς Περιδέραιο', 'Teenage Dolls', 'Rehearsed Dreams', 'R.R. Hearse' & 'On Purpose'.                                                                                                

On 23/3/1984 they performed live at (the school of Gravas - Athens) Σχολικό Συγκρότημα Γκράβας, along with 'Στρυχνίνες', 'Ghetto', 'Metro Decay', 'Art Of Parties', 'South Of No North, 'Cpt Neφos' & 'Villa 21'. On 20/4/1991 they made their last live appearance at An Club (Athens).
                                                                                          

They were one ne of the darkest bands of the greek post punk scene . Later the bassist of Headleaders (and also member of Rehearsed Dreams) participated at the band. Between 1982 and 1983 they released the 7" "Shoot The Truth" with three tracks and a mini lp titled "Funtime".
                                                                                   

In 1984 they released the lp "Hello Hell" again on Creep Records, and in ' 86 the lp ΧΙΙ-13 from Smash Records. The drummer of the band on lp ΧΙΙ-13 was andreas ferdianakis. Ex member of punk band ex humans and later member of south of no north and be bop jungle (The other greek post punk label which released only 3 Lp's). Unfortunately the singer / guitarist Fill Scars died in early 90's from drugs overdose. The birthday party's influenced is obvious in this band.

In 1984 they released the lp "Hello Hell" again on Creep Records, and in ' 86 the lp ΧΙΙ-13 from Smash Records. (The other greek post punk label which released only 3 Lp's).

Το αλμπουμάκι αυτό μου το έστειλε από την Αυστραλία

ο τότε συγκάτοικός μου στην Ιταλία  - Μέναμε στο ίδιο σπίτι , κάνοντας ένα σωρό μαλακίες , -

δεν είχαμε αφήσει  κανένα καφάσι μπίρας να πάει χαμένο ,

και τώρα  αυτό το Ρεμάλι μένει  στην Αυστραλία .

Πρωτοάκουσα τους Yello- Yell στην Ιταλία στις αρχές της δεκαετείας του 80 , όταν ο συγκάτοικός μου έφερε το LP τους από την Ελλάδα στο εξωτερικό.
Ηξερα ήδη τους Birthday Party, αλλά να ακούσω κάτι τέτοιο , και μάλλιστα από την Ελλάδα
ήταν Σοκαριστικό.

Οι Sex Pistols έμοιαζαν σχολιαρόπαιδα στα φτωχά αυτιά μου.

Βρόμικη,σκοτεινή,και συνάμμα λάγνα Dark "Απέχθεια".
Οι ήχοι και οι στίχοι τριβούλισαν το μυαλό μου,στέλνοντας ένα ζωντανό έρεβος να πράξει κατάληψη σε τόπους αρρύπαντους .

Tην εποχή εκείνη κάποιος γνωστός μου πέθανε απο Overdose έξω από το μπαλκόνι του σπιτιού
μου .Το γεγονός με χαράκωσε βαθύτατα .
Η φωνή του τραγουδιστή καρφώθηκε σα λεπίδι στο μυαλό μου
η μουσική της μπάντας έγινε Vampir
που εισέβαλε στο κορμί μου
μεταμορφώθηκα μαζί τους
πόνεσα μαζί τους
Πέθανα μαζί τους .

Το ¨Stychnine Blues " έγινε ύμνος ,
βλέποντας φίλους να πεθαίνουν δίπλα σε σίρυγγες .
Κι έκλαψα πολλές φορές για να μάθω το ¨"Γιατί" !

Κι έμαθα το Τίποτα .

Ενα χρόνο μετά , ένας απο τους καλύτερούς μου φίλους,
υπηρετώντας τη Στρατιωτική θητεία του 
σκοτώθηκε ,παρασέρνοντας άλλους 4 φαντάρους στο Θάνατο
οδηγώντας ένα τζιπ .
Είχε μαζί του την κασσέτα των Yell-O-Yell που του είχα γράψει .

( Δε συμβαίνει κάτι , και μην το πάρετε  σαν εξωπραγματικό μύθο )

Οι Yell-o-Yell ήταν μία Αθηναϊκή μπάντα που ξεκίνησε το 1982 και ανήκει στην κατηγορία των σκοτεινών εκείνων συγκροτημάτων που τόσο επηρεάστηκαν από το dark wave.Το 1982 οι Yell-o-Yell ηχογράφησαν ένα 7ιντσο EP με τίτλο “Shoot The Truth” από την Creep Records (που ήταν και το πρώτο για τη δισκογραφική εταιρεία), το οποίο περιείχε τρία κομμάτια ενώ περίπου ένα χρόνο αργότερα, το 1983 κυκλοφόρησαν ένα mini LP που ονόμασαν “Funtime.” Το συγκρότημα έκανε πολλές εμφανίσεις τόσο στο ιστορικό club «Σοφίτα» μαζί με τους Villa 21 κ.ά, όσο και στο club «Πήγασος». Το 1984 βρίσκει το συγκρότημα στο δρόμο να κυκλοφορεί το δεύτερο κατά σειρά LP με τίτλο “Hello Hell” από την Creep Records. Το LP αποτελείται από επτά κομμάτια, “Ex,” “The jaw,” “SS movie,” “Strychine blues,” “Hello hell,” “Death pirouettes” και “Kiss.” Δύο χρόνια μετά, το 1986 το LP “XIII” διατίθεται στην κυκλοφορία και αποτελεί ένα σπάνιο συλλεκτικό υλικό μιας και η εταιρεία Smash Records, η οποία το κυκλοφόρησε, παρέχει μονάχα τρία σε αριθμό LPs. Τα τραγούδια τους, “Imitation of the real,” “Crow’s Complete” και “Shoot the truth” μπήκαν και στη συλλογή “Return Of The Creeps-The Singles” που κυκλοφόρησε το 1995 από την FΜ Records. Η δεκαετία του 1990 ήταν καθοριστική για την πορεία του συγκροτήματος σαν αποτέλεσμα του θανάτου του τραγουδιστή και κιθαρίστα των Yell-o-Yell Φιλώτα Βασκαλή από υπερβολική δόση.

Οι Gang of Four συναντούν τους Birthday Party και στην γωνία παραφυλάνε ο Iggy με τον Johnny ...Ένα από τα καλύτερα δείγματα του παίζω rock'n'roll στην Ελλάδα , και γουστάρω...
Επηρεασμένοι από την βρετανική μεταπάνκ σκηνή και ιδιαίτερα από τους Birthday Party δείχνουν με αυτά τα τέσσερα τραγούδια , το δείγμα του ταλέντου τους.
Ήχος σύγχρονος και φρέσκος τότε , όπως ήταν όλες οι κυκλοφορίες της Creep και ένα από τα λίγα Ελληνικά συγκροτήματα που μου άρεσαν τότε , υπήρχε μια εποχή που αρνιόμουν να ακούσω οτιδήποτε Ελληνικό , ευτυχώς μετά άλλαξα ...
