The Noise Figures are like a time machine channeling The Sonics and The Doors: They pass through 1960s garage and ‘70s psychedelia, taking in ‘90s alt-rock and modern fuzz along the way. The Athens-based duo is comprised of George Nikas (vocals, drums), already known to Greek

audiences from his previous work with Zebra Tracks, and Stamos Bamparis (guitars, vocals), also known from his time with the grunge group Keyser Söze. In January 2012 they released their single ‘Bitter Taste’ and entered the studio to work on more material. The Noise Figures EP was released digitally later that year and was soon followed by their self-titled debut album. In 2018 the band returned more fearless than ever with their third full-length studio work, Telepath, inspired “by the theory of spiritualism and personal experiences” to use their own words. 
                        

The band connects, in a unique way, 2013 Athens with 1965 San Francisco through the musical influences of the band. Restless fuzz guitars flirting with old-fashioned garage but also with contemporary blues,

amps with plenty of spring reverb and dirty overdriven vocals form the music backbone of their sound. The lyrics draw their themes from experiences on the road and express a dizzying madness for life. Traveling by car under the hot sun, hallucinogens, girls next door and beautiful wild landscapes are some of the inspirations of the two artists who are driving the imagination of the listener on an adventurous Kerouacian journey. “The Noise Figures” is best listened loud and is the ideal soundtrack for escaping the urban boundaries by car.
                                

In 2020, the Athens-based drums-guitar duo of George Nikas and Stamos Bamparis released their heaviest

album to date. The Perfect Spell is a dark and cynical glimpse into a metaphysical void- how else can someone describe an album that begins with the wildly joyful “I Cheat Death” and ends with chugging riffs in “Pilgrims of the Dark”? The Noise Figure take a step forward by taking the road back to their fiery rock n’ roll roots and their heavy psych inner-self, with metallic drum beats and brain-pounding energy, feeling more improvised and loose than ever.

After two European tours, hundreds of concerts in all major Greek cities and having shared the stage with some of the most important bands (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Growlers, Japandroids, No Age, Dead Meadow, Sonic Jesus, Sylvain Sylvain), George Nikas (drums, vocals) and Stamos Bamparis (guitar, vocals) elevate the musical tones and offer us some of the best songs of the year. Recorded in five days, on a reel-to-reel tape machine, with vintage gear and tuned to A=432 Hz, produced and sound engineered by Alex Bolbasis in Artracks Studios, ”Aphelion” answers the

question of what happens when you combine ideally the raw power of Death From Above 1979, the spirit of Black Sabbath and the fuzz of Black Angels. Spunky vocals, massive guitar riffs and sticky tunes in harmony with a special engraving, created by Bob Studio for the cover artwork, are making ”Aphelion” an album that is here to stay.

Inspired by the theory of spiritualism and influenced by personal experiences, “Telepath” is an intoxicated concept album, with intensively sobering attention to

detail in every single track, revealing a different side of the band’s personality and crossing all the paths the duet from Greece has traveled so far, from heavy blues to psych garage to a fuzz vertigo. With its swinging moods of bright to dark undertones, the album sounds sharper than ever, with more energy, intensity and tuneful sensibility, capturing the band’s hundreds of live performances and touring thrust. Diafana Krina (Greek: Διάφανα Κρίνα, which translates in English as 'Transparent Lilies') was a

Greek rock group. It consisted of Thanos Anestopoulos (vocals, acoustic guitar, piano), Pantelis Rodostoglou (bass), Nikos Bardis (electric guitar, trumpet), Kyriakos Tsoukalas (electric guitar), Tassos Machas (drums) and (from 1996 until 2000) Panagiotis Berlis (keyboards, vocals). Their special characteristic (apart from their distinct baritone voice of Anestopoulos) is that they set to music poems (most written by bassist Rodostoglou) rather than usual lyrics. 
                              

Τα Διάφανα Κρίνα ήταν ένα από τα πιο γνωστά ελληνικά συγκροτήματα της Εναλλακτικής Ροκ και

Νιου Γουέιβ (new wave) μουσικής. Αποτελούνταν από τους Θάνο Ανεστόπουλο (φωνή, ακουστική κιθάρα, φυσαρμόνικα, πιάνο), Νίκο Μπαρδή (κιθάρες, τρομπέτα, κρουστά, μεταλλόφωνο), Κυριάκο Τσουκαλά (κιθάρες, πλήκτρα, κρουστά, γεννήτρια ήχων), Παντελή Ροδοστόγλου (ηλεκτρικό μπάσσο), Τάσο Μαχά (τύμπανα, κρουστά) και τον Παναγιώτη Μπερλή (φωνή, πλήκτρα).
                        

Τα Διάφανα Κρίνα σχηματίστηκαν το 1991 και το 1994 κυκλοφόρησαν τον πρώτο τους δίσκο από τη δισκογραφική εταιρεία Wipe Out, το single Λιώνοντας μόνος/Κάτω απ' το ηφαίστειο. Το 1996, με

την προσθήκη του Παναγιώτη Μπερλή στα πλήκτρα, κυκλοφόρησαν το δίσκο Έγινε η απώλεια συνήθεια μας. Το 1997 συμμετείχαν στο φεστιβάλ Rockwave Festival, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο γήπεδο του Απόλλωνα Αθηνών στην Ριζούπολη, μαζί με συγκροτήματα όπως οι The Sisters of Mercy. Το 1998 κυκλοφόρησαν το δίσκο Κάτι σαράβαλες καρδιές και την ίδια χρονιά έδωσαν την πρώτη τους συναυλία στο club «ΡΟΔΟΝ». Το 1999 άνοιξαν τη συναυλία των Tindersticks στη μουσική σκηνή «Σφεντόνα», στη Λεωφόρο Αλεξάνδρας.
                           

Το 2000, μετά την αποχώρηση του Παναγιώτη Μπερλή από το συγκρότημα, διέκοψαν τη συνεργασία τους με την Wipe Out, ίδρυσαν τη δική τους δισκογραφική εταιρεία, την This Is My Voice Records, και κυκλοφόρησαν το single Είναι που όλα ήρθαν αργά. Τον Οκτώβριο του 2000

κυκλοφόρησε ο δίσκος Ευωδιάζουν αγριοκέρασα οι σιωπές, ενώ στο τέλος του ίδιου έτους διασκεύασαν το τραγούδι Θάνατος του Παύλου Σιδηρόπουλου για τη συλλογή της EMI Στον Π - Αφιέρωμα Στον Παύλο Σιδηρόπουλο. Το 2001 κυκλοφόρησε ο δίσκος Καινούργιος τόπος/Κάτω απ' το ηφαίστειο, ως ένθετο στο περιοδικό Fractal Press. Το 2002 ο Θάνος Ανεστόπουλος έκανε ακουστικές εμφανίσεις με την κιθάρα του στο bar «Closer» στην Αθήνα, ενώ στο τέλος της ίδιας χρονιάς τα Διάφανα Κρίνα έγραψαν τη μουσική για το θεατρικό έργο Δεσποινίς Τζούλια.
                                       

Στα μέσα του 2003 κυκλοφόρησε από την This Is My Voice Records ο δίσκος Ό,τι απόμεινε απ' την ευτυχία. Το 2004 το συγκρότημα πραγματοποίησε συναυλίες σε όλη την Ελλάδα, με ενδεικτικό το

γεγονός ότι το 2001 είχαν πραγματοποιήσει 170 συναυλίες σε όλη τη χώρα.[εκκρεμεί παραπομπή] Το 2005 κυκλοφόρησε το βιβλίο/CD Ο γύρος της μέρας σε 80 κόσμους από την εκδοτική εταιρεία Ίνδικτος. Τον Νοέμβριο του 2008 κυκλοφόρησε ο δίσκος Κι η αγάπη πάλι θα καλεί. Την 1η Ιουνίου 2009, τα Διάφανα Κρίνα ανακοίνωσαν μέσω της επίσημης ιστοσελίδας τους τη διάλυσή τους, με την ανακοίνωση να υπογράφεται από όλα τα μέλη εκτός από τον Θάνο Ανεστόπουλο.
                               

Ο Θάνος Ανεστόπουλος γεννήθηκε στην Αλεξανδρούπολη στις 3 Φεβρουαρίου του 1967 και

απεβίωσε στις 3 Σεπτεμβρίου 2016 από καρκίνο. Ο Ανεστόπουλος θεωρούσε ότι «η θρησκεία είναι η μεγαλύτερη και η πιο επιτυχημένη απάτη όλων των εποχών» και ότι «δεν θα υπάρξει ποτέ θρησκεία ανώτερη απ’ την αλήθεια». Για την πολιτική ανέφερε πως «είναι η τέχνη του ψέματος και της ψευδαίσθησης».

Big Sleep: Moonlight Days 1994 + Everything Falls Into Place 1992

 

BIG SLEEP is an alternative rock/pop band currently based in Salonica, Greece. Founded in 1992, so far 5 full albums have been released. It’s very difficult to be involved in the independent music scene

and not have heard, at least in passing, Big Sleep’s Looking for a Girl with a Washing Machine. It’s a song that was a hit in Greece in the ’90s and stands there, proud, even today in DJ sets, radio shows, and even in commercials. Stefan Schwerdtfeger, in addition to being the founder of Big Sleep, has been, among other things, a local musical hero in the area where he grew up (just outside Munich), a friend of the late musician Nikki Sudden, and a member of the live band Blue.
                           

                                                         
Stefan Schwerdtfeger, singer and composer, grew up in the United States. Later, he moved to

Germany, where he started "BIG SLEEP". Their first album, titled "Everything Falls Into Place", quickly became a huge success in Greece, with the single "Looking For A Girl With A Washing-Machine" being played to this day (!) on the radio and various entertainment venues. In 1994, the next CD "Moonlit Days" was released, recorded in Southwest France, paving the way for appearances in Ireland, the Netherlands, Italy and France. 
                          

Soon, he performed and recorded with various musicians, such as Nikki Sudden, Phil Shoenfelt and

Terry Lee Hale. In 1995, he moved to Greece, where he continues to work, write and create with great success. Since then he has recorded two more albums, "Thermaikos" (1999) and "With God And Her Sisters" (2003) produced by Chris Eckman from Walkabouts. This was followed by appearances on all the major stages of Greece, together with his new band, "BIG SLEEP electric".
