The Hellacopters: Grande Rock 1999 + Cream Of The Crap Vol 01 (Collected Non Album Works) 2002 + Cream Of The Crap Vol 02 (Collected Non Album Works) 2004

A rock 'n' roll band from Stockholm, Sweden, founded by Nicke Andersson.

Initially a side project, The Hellacopters' was formed in 1994 with the original line-up consisting of Andersson (guitar & vocals), Dregen (guitar), Kenny Håkansson (bass) and Robert Eriksson (drums).

Their first album 'Supershitty To The Max' was released in June 1996, after which keyboardist Anders Lindström (aka Boba Fett) also joined the band, first as a live session musician and few years later as a a full time member. In 1997 Andersson quit in Entombed, his main band at the time, and The Hellacopters became a full-time band and the main musical outlet for Andersson.

What the MC5 and Stooges were to the '60s, what Sonic's Rendezvous Band and Radio Birdman were to the '70s, and what the Celibate Rifles were to the '80s -- that's what Sweden's

Hellacopters were to the '90s.
Young, strapping, and rocking out to almost cartoon-like proportions, the Hellacopters have made quite a name for themselves in Europe and Australia. And a deal with Sub Pop had them targeting the States. The rock -- fast, extremely hard, and loud beyond reason -- has gotten the band noticed by several of their seminal influences, such as Scott Morgan, who has performed with them many times as well as collaborated on a single for the aforementioned Sub Pop label, and also the Dictators, with whom they have done several European tours.

Supershitty to the Max!
Releases include 1998's Super Shitty to the Max! and its 1999 follow-up, Grande Rock. The Hellacopters also teamed with Gluecifer for a 1999 split release, Respect the Rock America.

In 1998, after touring for their second album 'Payin' The Dues', Dregen left the group to concentrate

fully on his own band Backyard Babies. Following his departure, the band used few different session guitarists for touring and recording purposes (e.g. Chuck Pounder, Mattias Hellberg, Scott Morgan and Wayne Kramer), but didn't find a suitable replacement until in 1999, when Robert Dahlqvist joined the group. With this "final" line-up the band released four more albums and numerous singles and EP's before deciding to call it quits in 2008. Their last gig was on October 26th 2008 at Debaser Medis in Stockholm.

White Trash Soul appeared in early 2001, followed by the European release of High Visibility. That record wouldn't see American soil for a whole year (while it was a major-label release at home, it appeared on the independent Gearhead imprint in the States), while they garnered awards in their home country.

Universal opted to release the band's next full-length set, 2002's By the Grace of God, on both sides of

the ocean, while fans who were having trouble keeping up with their many singles and compilation tracks got relief with two odds-and-sods compilations, Cream of the Crap! and Cream of the Crap!, Vol. 2. Despite being filled with old-fashioned rock & roll, the band's 2005 release was titled Rock & Roll Is Dead.

Band's hiatus lasted for eight years as the original line-up made a comeback in the summer 2016 and

played two gigs to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album. In February 2017 guitarist Robert Dahlqvist died at the age of 40. Bass player Kenny Håkansson left the group in 2017 and was replaced by Sami Yaffa, who was then replaced by Dolf de Borst in 2018. The band continues to make selected performances, mainly on summer festivals, and focus on their early material as well as playing selected songs from their later discography.

THE HELLACOPTERS - CREAM OF THE CRAP! (COLLECTED NON ALBUM WORKS) VOLUME 1  2002

Cream of the Crap! Vol. 1 is the first of two compilation albums by Swedish rock band The

Hellacopters which contains rare singles, B-sides, EP selections, and other non-album tracks by the band. The follow-up Cream of the Crap! Vol. 2 was released two years later. You can hear the Hellacopters' blistering metal-punk-garage salvo throughout most of this collection, which features such hard rock verities as wah-wah guitar solos (e.g., "Tilt City," "Down Right Blue") and lyrics about solving your problems through drinking ("Freespeedin'").

THE HELLACOPTERS - CREAM OF THE CRAP! (COLLECTED NON ALBUM WORKS) VOLUME 2  2004

Cream of the Crap!, Vol. 2 is their second collection of single sides, covers, compilation contributions,

and collaborations with likeminded rock demons, and it cranks with abandon from first track to last. While the Hellacopters show excellent taste by covering the likes of Love, the Dictators, the Dead Boys, and the Misfits, their originals punch every bit as hard, and cuts like "Geekstreak," "(It's Not A) Long Way Down," and "Lowdown" would have earned an honored place on the albums of most self-respecting hard rock bands.

The Hellacopters : High Visibility : 2000

When "Entombed" drummer/songwriter Nicke Andersson left after" Wolverine Blues" to pursue his rock side project, "The Hellacopters", on a full-time basis, a deep void was left in the band .
Andersson wrote a massive proportion of the lyrics and music on the first three Entombed releases.

(Entombed was a Swedish death metal band which formed in 1987 under the name of Nihilist. Though Entombed began their career as an early pioneer of Scandinavian death metal which initially differed itself from it's American counterpart with its distinct guitar tone, by the early 1990s their sound had broadened to include garage rock and other influences.
This new style would eventually be described as death 'n' roll. Entombed have been influenced by bands such as Autopsy, Slayer, Kiss, The Misfits, Motörhead and Discharge.)

Nicke Andersson (also known as Nick Royale), born 1 August 1972 is a singer, guitarist, drummer, songwriter and composer most known for his work as the singer and guitarist of the successful Grammy award winning rock band The Hellacopters as well as the former drummer for Swedish death metal band "Entombed."

In late 1994, Andersson formed "The Hellacopters" as a side project together with Dregen, Kenny Håkansson and Robert Eriksson, all of whom earlier had been roadies during Andersson's time in Entombed.

High Visibility silences all debates on Andersson's prolific talent, as it ushers in the rebirth of Michigan-styled rock à la the MC5 .
After the sloppy sludge rock masterpiece Supershitty to the Max!, the 'Copters flirted with straightforward, raw '70s rock appeal, succeeding on one album, Payin' the Dues, and failing on the other, Grande Rock.

All the other '70s rock revivalist bands springing up ! the Hellacopters aren't reviving anything , they're possessed with the spirit of it, and damn does it sound sweet.

In 2006 The Hellacopters joined forces with The Hives, Backyard Babies, The Soundtrack of Our Lives and Millencolin and embarked on a successful tour throughout Sweden.

In 2007 the band announced that they would be breaking up after the release of their 7th full length album 'Head off', a collection of cover songs which will be followed by a last tour through Europe and Scandinavia.

The band has left their garage origins and they turned to the sound of Pure Hard Rock .

ONCE AGAIN HARD ROCK RULES

The Hellacopters : Rock ' n ' Roll is Dead 2005

Just why would an album be titled Rock & Roll Is Dead when the contents within are good old-fashioned rock & roll?
Undoubtedly , it's because one of Sweden's most popular rock acts , the Hellacopters , is displeased with the state of rock music . So it would be a highly logical guess that the title is aimed at all the homogenized rock acts running amok on the charts .
While most "retro rockers" have no problem replicating the sonics of yesteryear , it's when it comes to penning memorable tracks like their heroes that they usually run into a stumbling block . But the Hellacopters are one of the exceptions as evidenced here by such standouts as "Monkeyboy," the very Stonesy "Leave It Alone," and "Murder on My Mind." And as with most modern-day garage revivalists , the Hellacopters can't resist slipping in a few "bash and wail" numbers as well ("Bring It on Home," "Put Out the Fire," etc.).

Tracks:

1 Before the Fall 2:11
2 Everything's on T.V. 3:14
3 Monkey Boy 2:38
4 No Angel to Lay Me Away 3:55
5 Bring It on Home 2:11
6 Leave It Alone 4:00
7 Murder on My Mind 3:10
8 I'm in the Band 3:19
9 Put out the Fire 3:08
10 I Might Come See You Tonight 3:24
11 Nothing Terribly New 2:59
12 Make It Tonight 2:44
13 Time Got No Time to Wait for me 3:28

EVERYTHING IS ON TV

I have a TV screen of some 32 inches
TV dinner and an easy chair
From where I view a disaster
And switch the channel fast
And thank my lucky star I wasn't there
The world's in a hurry but I don't have to worry
There's a movie on with a happy end
I've seen it before but I can see it some more
So I don't have to go out and pretend

No I don't have to go out
I'll just stay inside - it doesn't bother me
I have all I need because everything is on TV

I can pay to get heard or to get the last word
Wire money to some charity
While I do as I please and bake in my own grease
I better keep my conscience clean
The world's in a hurry but I don't have to worry
I got my virtue and I got my vice
I got bedsores - aching ligaments galore
Now that's a tiny sacrifice

No I don't have to go out
I'll just stay inside - it keeps me company
I have all I need because everything is on TV
Everything is on TV
Everything is on TV

SOUL SELLER

Well , look out now when I come your way
Well , I' m a dog and I' m astray
Well , I' ve been taught but I won' t learn
Been out of luck but baby it will turn

So I sold my soul again
Well , I can' t turn back 'cause it' s the place
I put my damn self in
And I will sell my soul to you
Well , now what I need has long been overdue

Blast my way with raging speed
Beelzebub gimme what I need , what I need now
I don' t wanna wait to what comes around , there ain' t no reason
He' s gotta holler it now , I gotta hear that sound

I call it gold , some cat it ville
but to place my bets on consolation prices
Just ain' t my style , who care now
I' ve gotta get SIX SIX SIX , I' ve gotta go ,
well , I' ve gotta go now
Won' t you burn with me when I make that show
