I didn't put in this compilation great women as Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin and others from the Blues Scene, the Country (Not the Country Rock), The Soul, The Funk, The Jazz and Heavy metal scene. As a Rock musician or better as a DJ in the most famous Rock bars of Athens, I think I put every song in the right place in the list.
Please don't send me stupid comments about names I forgot to put in this compilation. You can understand that I needed a lot of time to put all these names in this list, working very hard, selecting their songs, writing a small biography about them, collecting photos and drinking a lot of beers. CHANDEEN is a musical project from Frankfurt am Main, founded in 1990 and popular in the darkwave scene in the first half of the 1990s. The band refers to its own style as "Electronic poetry". From the middle of the 1990s, the band's style changed to a more pop-oriented sound with influences from rock and trip hop. Chandeen was founded in 1990 by Harald Löwy and Oliver Henkel, who had been working on musical experiments together from the winter of 1989. The name comes from a pet iguana owned by a friend of Löwy. In 1991 Aline Akbari joined, and additional singer Antje Schulz joined in 1992. After two cassette releases, they came to the attention of Hyperium Records head Oliver Rösch, who signed them. Aline Akbari left the group shortly before the signing and was replaced by Catrin Mallon. Under this lineup they recorded their first two full-lengths, Shaded by the Leaves and Jutland. In the process of the studio work for Jutland, internal differences arose between the members, and Catrin Mallon and Oliver Henkel left the group in 1994. The pair went on to collaborate on the project Edera, which produced only one album (1996's Ambiguous) before dissolving. New singer Stephanie Härich joined for the 1995 EP Light Within Time, taking Mallon's place. She had previously worked with Harald Löwy on the project Incept Date, singing background vocals on their Archipelago album in 1994. 2011 saw the release of their album Blood Red Skies, followed by Forever And Ever in 2014. On February 28 2020, the band released their tenth studio album Mercury Retrograde.
02. JENNY HVAL
JENNY HVAL (born 11 July 1980) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter, record producer, musician, and novelist. She has released eight solo albums, two under the alias Rockettothesky and six under her own name. In 2015, Hval released her fifth studio album, Apocalypse, Girl, to widespread critical acclaim. The following year, she released Blood Bitch, a concept album influenced by vampires, menstruation and 1970s horror films. Until 1999, Hval was the vocalist of a gothic metal band called Shellyz Raven. She studied at the University of Melbourne, Australia, specializing in creative writing and performance. While studying, she was vocalist in Australian bands iPanic and Folding For Air with Thomas McGowan releasing an EP "Are you afraid of heights?" in 2004.

MIRANDA SEX GARDEN are an English music group from London. They were originally active from 1990 to 2000, reforming in 2022. Formed in 1990, KATHARINE BLAKE - KELLY McCUSKER - JOCELYN WEST were originally a trio of madrigal singers. They were educated at The Purcell School for Young Musicians in Bushey. They were discovered by Barry Adamson when they were singing madrigals on Portobello Road in London. He invited them to sing on his Delusion soundtrack, with the song Il Solitario. After that Daniel Miller invited them to sign a contract with Mute Records. They recorded their first single Gush Forth My Tears in March 1991. It was a madrigal with a beat, mixed by Danny Rampling. Their first album, Madra (August 1991), was produced by classical producer Tony Faulkner. It was entirely a cappella, with the songs all based on traditional English verse. It took only two days to record.

FRANKIE ROSE (born 1979) is an American musician and songwriter. She was an original member of Crystal Stilts, Dum Dum Girls, Vivian Girls and Beverly.
Formerly of bands Vivian Girls and Beverly, Frankie was the drummer for the acts Crystal Stilts and Dum Dum Girls. Rose released her first single "Thee Only One" on Slumberland Records in 2009 under Frankie Rose and the Outs and followed up in 2010 with a full-length album as Frankie Rose. Her second full-length album, Interstellar, was released in February 2012 and earned a "Best New Music" designation from Pitchfork. Her third album titled Herein Wild was released by Fat Possum in 2013. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, and released her fourth album, Cage Tropical, in August 2017. In 2017, Rose released a cover album of the Cure's Seventeen Seconds.
05. NATASHA KHAN OR BAT FOR LASHES
NATASHA KHAN (born 25 October 1979), known professionally as BAT FOR LASHES, is an English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. She has released five studio albums: Fur and Gold (2006), Two Suns (2009), The Haunted Man (2012), The Bride (2016), and Lost Girls (2019). She has received three Mercury Prize nominations. Khan is also the vocalist for Sexwitch, a collaboration with the rock band Toy and producer Dan Carey.

First Chapter (1987 - 1991): DING AN SICH was formed in 1987 in Athens - Greece. Their first formation included: Nick Sarikostas - bass , George Polizos - drums , Takis Merekos - voice , and a guitarist whose name is forgotten. He was replaced by Dimitris Papalakis just a while before the recordings for the first single were about to start.
Second Chapter (1993 - 1996): This period is distinguished for the substantial changes as far as the formation is concerned, but also their direction. Ding An Sich sustain as studio project only. The trinity consists of: Maria Batistatou - voices , George Ginis - Various / Effects , Nick Sarikostas - Programming / Keyboards , Some good friends of the band, offered a helping hand, and the album The Wanderer & His Shadow was released at the dawn of 1996.
07. MISH BARBER-WAY - ANNE MARIE VASSILIOU (WHITE LUNG)
MISH BARBER-WAY (born 15 July 1985) is a Canadian singer, songwriter and writer. She serves as the lead vocalist of the punk rock band White Lung.
As a child, she competed in figure skating before focusing on music and writing. In university, Barber-Way originally studied writing before switching to programs in philosophy and gender studies.

WHITE LUNG are a Canadian punk rock band. The band consists of Mish Barber-Way (vocals), Kenneth William (guitars) and Anne-Marie Vassiliou (drums). They have released two albums on Deranged Records and their latest two on Domino Recording Company. Exclaim! named the band's first full-length album It's the Evil as 2010's punk album of the year. The band was nominated for Punk/Hardcore Artist/Group of the Year at the 2011 Canadian Music Week Indie Awards. White Lung was formed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 2006. They first attained recognition as one of the standout acts involved with the Vancouver Emergency Room scene. Exclaim! named the band's first full-length album It's the Evil as 2010's punk album of the year. Anne-Marie Vassiliou is an ex-member of the band The Riff Randells.
08. CHELSEA WOLFE
CHELSEA JOY WOLFE (born November 14, 1983) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. Her work has blended elements of gothic rock, doom metal, and folk music. Raised in Northern California with a country musician father, Wolfe began writing and recording songs during her childhood. She earned underground critical acclaim for her releases, The Grime and the Glow (2010) and Apokalypsis (2011), which blended gothic and folk elements, as well as her following albums, Pain Is Beauty (2013), Abyss (2015), and Hiss Spun (2017), in which Wolfe incorporated elements of neofolk, electronic music and heavy metal. Chelsea Wolfe was born in Roseville, California, She is of English, Norwegian, and German descent. She was raised in Roseville and Sacramento. Her father was in a country band and owned a home studio. By the age of 7, she had written her first poem and by the age of 9, had written and recorded songs which she later described as "basically Casio-based gothy R&B songs".
09. KARIN DREIJER ANDERSON (FEVER RAY)
KARIN ELIZABETH DREIJER ANDERSON (born 7 April 1975) is a Swedish singer-songwriter and record producer. Dreijer was one half of the electronic music duo the Knife, formed with their brother Olof Dreijer. Dreijer released their debut solo album under the alias Fever Ray in January 2009. Their second studio album, Plunge, under the same alias, was released in October 2017.
Dreijer's vocal style is notable for both shrill and deep tones, and also the use of multitracked vocals, with different uses of pitch-shifting technology on each track, creating an intricate and mysterious effect. Visually, they employ the use of masks, face and body paint, intricate costumes, and other theatrical elements in photo shoots, videos and live performances, during which they often perform behind a gauze screen that partially obscures the audience's view.
FEVER RAY is the debut solo studio album by Fever Ray, an alias of Karin Dreijer of Swedish electronic music duo the Knife. It was released on 12 January 2009 by Rabid Records. The album spawned four singles: "If I Had a Heart", "When I Grow Up", "Triangle Walks" and "Seven". Fever Ray was lauded by music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 81, based on 27 reviews, which indicates "universal acclaim".

NIKA ROZA DANILOVA (born Nicole Rose Hummel; April 11, 1989), known professionally by her stage name Zola Jesus, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Her music has been noted for combining elements of electronic, industrial, classical, and goth. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, she spent her formative years in northern Wisconsin, where she began writing and recording music independently while attending college. During her second year of studies, she released two singles through the independent label Sacred Bones, followed by two EPs. Her debut album, The Spoils, was released in 2009. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, she released her second full-length record, Stridulum II (2010), followed by Conatus (2011). Her fourth album, Taiga (2014), released by Mute Records, marked a departure from her previous releases, and featured a more prominent pop-influenced sound. Her fifth studio album, Okovi, was released in 2017.

THE PRETTY RECKLESS is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 2009. The band consists of Taylor Momsen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Ben Phillips (lead guitar, backing vocals), Mark Damon (bass), and Jamie Perkins (drums). The band released their debut studio album, Light Me Up, in August 2010. The album spawned three moderately successful singles, most notably "Make Me Wanna Die". The band released the Hit Me Like a Man EP in early 2012. 13. COURTNEY BARNETT
COURTNEY MELBA BARNETT (born 3 November 1987) is an Australian singer, songwriter, and musician. Known for her deadpan singing style and witty, rambling lyrics, she attracted attention with the release of her debut EP I've Got a Friend Called Emily Ferris in 2012. International interest came with the release of her EP The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas in 2013.
Barnett's debut album, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, was released in 2015 to widespread acclaim. At the 2015 ARIA Music Awards, she won four awards from eight nominations. She was nominated for Best New Artist at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards and International Female Solo Artist at the 2016 Brit Awards. 14. KATLEEN HANNA - KATHI WILCOX - TOBI VAIL (BIKINI KILL)
KATLEEN HANNA (born November 12, 1968) is an American singer, musician, artist, feminist activist, pioneer of the feminist punk riot grrrl movement, and punk zine writer. In the early-to-mid-1990s she was the lead singer of feminist punk band Bikini Kill, before fronting Le Tigre in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Since 2010, she has recorded as the Julie Ruin.
KATHI LYNN WILCOX (born November 19, 1969) is an American musician. She is the bass player in the Julie Ruin and has been in bands such as Bikini Kill, the Casual Dots, and the Frumpies.
TOBI CELESTE VAIL (born July 20, 1969) is an American independent musician, music critic and feminist activist from Olympia, Washington. She was a central figure in the riot grrl scene—she coined the spelling of "grrl"—and she started the zine Jigsaw. A drummer, guitarist and singer, she was a founding member of the band Bikini Kill. Vail has collaborated in several other bands figuring in the Olympia music scene. Vail writes for eMusic.
BIKINI KILL is an American punk rock band formed in Olympia, Washington, in October 1990. The group consisted of singer and songwriter Kathleen Hanna, guitarist Billy Karren, bassist Kathi Wilcox, and drummer Tobi Vail. The band pioneered the riot grrrl movement, with feminist lyrics and fiery performances. Their music is characteristically abrasive and hardcore-influenced. After two full-length albums, several EPs and two compilations, they disbanded in 1997. The band reunited for tours in 2019 and 2022, with Erica Dawn Lyle on guitar in place of Karren. Bikini Kill formed in Olympia, Washington, in October 1990, by Kathleen Hanna (vocals), Billy Karren (guitar), Kathi Wilcox (bass), and Tobi Vail (drums). Hanna, Vail, and Wilcox met while attending The Evergreen State College in Washington. Hanna also published a fanzine called Bikini Kill for their first tours in 1991. The band wrote songs together and encouraged a female-centric environment at their shows, urging women to come to the front of the stage and handing out lyric sheets to them.

16. SELENE VIGIL - ELIZABETH DAVIS - VALERIE AGNEW - ROISIN DUNNE (7 YEARS BITCH)
SELENE VIGIL (born July 16, 1965) is an American singer. She co-founded grunge band 7 Year Bitch alongside Elizabeth Davis, Valerie Agnew and Stefanie Sargent in 1990; they released three studio albums before disbanding in 1997. In 2000, Vigil formed a gothic band, Cistine. In 2010, Vigil released her debut solo album, That Was Then. Vigil was married to Rage Against the Machine's drummer, Brad Wilk.
ELIZABETH DAVIS-Simpson (born December 18, 1965 in the United States), is best known for being an American songwriter, as well as the bassist of the punk rock band 7 Year Bitch. She later worked on projects such as These Streets with Valerie Agnew, and has participated in a band named Clone.
VALERIE AGNEW is best known as the drummer of 7 Year Bitch. Agnew moved from Ohio to Seattle, Washington, where she met the musicians that would become her future bandmates: Selene Vigil (vocals), Elizabeth Davis (bass), and Stefanie Sargent (lead guitar). They formed 7 Year Bitch and signed with C/Z Records. They released their debut album Sick 'Em in 1992.
ROISIN DUNNE Ross (born 18 September 1965) is an Irish musician. She is best known for being the replacement guitarist of 7 Year Bitch, after their guitarist Stefanie Sargent died in June 1992.
7 YEARS BITCH was an American punk rock band from Seattle, Washington. The band was active between 1990 and 1997 and released three albums over that time. The band formed at the same time as the emergence of the riot grrrl sub-genre, which is a sub-genre of punk music from the early to mid-1990s that emphasized the role of women in rock music. The Riot Grrrl movement began as a feminist response to the violence and misogyny that became more prominent in punk music in the mid-to-late 1980s, and 7 Year Bitch, an all-female punk band, emerged as part of that sub-genre.
17. JEMINA PEARL (BE YOUR OWN PET)
JEMINA PEARL ABEGG (born June 20, 1987) is an American singer and the frontwoman of Be Your Own Pet, a punk rock band she started when she was 16.
She appeared in the television series Gossip Girl, in a musical performance with Thurston Moore, covering the Ramones classic "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker".
BE YOUR OWN PET (also known as BYOP) is a four-piece punk/garage rock group from Nashville, Tennessee. The band formed in 2004, while all members were in high school at Nashville School of the Arts. Playing house shows and gigs at the all-ages venues Guido's Pizza and Bongo Java, the group honed its spastic-yet-poppy sound. The band released their first single, "Damn Damn Leash" – as a CD-R; the track made its way to BBC Radio One presenter Zane Lowe, whose support for Be Your Own Pet won the band an early U.K. following. Meanwhile, attention-getting gigs at 2004's CMJ and 2005's South by Southwest began creating a buzz for the group stateside. A string of EPs followed. BYOP performed at festivals such as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, and Reading & Leeds. They also supported bands such as Arctic Monkeys, Sonic Youth, Kings of Leon, amongst others. The band received critical acclaim from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and many other publications such as NME, who named Pearl in the Top 10 of their annual "Cool List", and Nylon, who put the band on the cover of their summer 2006 issue. The group made their debut TV performance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

THEO KOGAN (born December 23, 1969) is an American singer, songwriter, model, and actress. She is best known as the vocalist of the all-girl punk band Lunachicks. She also sang in the dance/electronic band Theo & the Skyscrapers. She is married to Sean Pierce, the guitarist of Theo & the Skyscrapers and the Toilet Böys.
GINA VOLPE: Blending analog and electronic elements in with her signature guitar sound, NYC based guitarist, singer, songwriter and visual artist. Gina Volpe has found a way to create a genre of her very own. Gina Volpe is also known for the band she formed back in high school, the legendary NYC punk band Lunachicks, along with her hard hitting power trio BANTAM who just released a new single in October 2022.
SYDNEY "SQUID" SILVER (Born: November 11, 1969) is a bassist most well known for being a longtime and founding member of the Lunachicks from 1987 to 2000 and again from 2019 to the present.
KATE SCHELLENBACH (born January 5, 1966) is an American musician and television producer. She is the drummer of Luscious Jackson and was a founding drummer of the Beastie Boys. Born in New York City, she played with the Beastie Boys from 1981 to 1984, and drummed for Luscious Jackson until the band broke up in spring of 2000, and again when they re-formed in 2011.
Schellenbach was also the drummer for the punk band the Lunachicks, during early 1993 for a very short period of time, before Chip English was recruited.
THE LUNACHICKS are an American punk rock band from New York City. The band formed in 1987 and had been on hiatus since 2000, with the band reuniting in 2019. The band cited influences including the Ramones, Kiss, and the MC5.
Theo Kogan, Gina Volpe, and Sydney "Squid" Silver were students at New York City's Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts when they decided to form a band. Sindi Benezra, an acquaintance of Silver, was asked to join shortly after. They rehearsed and wrote material in Gina's bedroom for about a year. Their first composition, the lengthy "Theme Song", was about killing Kogan's and Silver's English teacher. The band played their first show in 1988 with Theo's then-boyfriend Mike on the drums. Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth were amongst the audience for one of their early performances. Gordon and Moore were impressed with the band and sent a demo tape to Paul Smith in England, which landed them a deal on Smith's label Blast First. With drummer Becky Wreck (Susan Rebecca Lloyd) on board they released a self-titled four-song EP in 1989, and the album Babysitters on Acid, both produced by Wharton Tiers. The record was only available in Europe until it was re-released on Go-Kart Records in 2001. The band later expressed their strong dislike for the album's production, and the fact that they did not earn any money from Blast First. The band went on to tour with the Dictators in 1991.

The Two Tears are an American garage rock band formed by KERRY DAVIS previously of the all-girl punk group Red Aunts. She also played drums in the Mick Collins fronted The Screws (In The Red Records). She also played in the short lived San Diego band Beehive and the Barracudas who released records on Swami Records. Two Tears was originally conceived as a one woman band.

THE RED AUNTS were an American all-female punk band that formed in 1991 in Long Beach, California, United States, when Terri Wahl (a.k.a. Angel, or Louise Lee Outlaw) recruited friends Kerry Davis (a.k.a. Sapphire, or Taffy Davis) and Debi Martini (a.k.a. E.Z. Wider, a.k.a. Connie Champagne, or Debbi Dip). Wahl would become the guitarist, sharing vocal duties with Davis who also played rhythm guitar and Martini as bassist. Wahl's ex-husband, Jon Wahl of the band Claw Hammer, stood in as drummer under the alias Joan Whale until he was replaced full-time by Lesley Ishino (a.k.a. Lesley Noelle, Ishino Destroyer, or Cougar).

MAYA ANNE FORD (born January 8, 1979 in Oakland, California) is an American musician and the former bass player of rock band The Donnas. She also goes by the name Donna F. Initially she was playing guitar (she received an acoustic guitar from her cousin), but then she decided to switch to the bass. When her band (then known as Screen) started in May 1993, she had had approximately six months of playing experience.
TORRANCE HEATHER CASTELLANO (born January 8, 1979) is an American percussionist and the former drummer of The Donnas. She announced her retirement from drumming in July 2010. She met future bandmates Maya Ford, Brett Anderson and Allison Robertson in junior high school. They formed a band in 8th grade called Ragady Anne, later calling themselves The Electrocutes at Palo Alto High School.
THE DONNAS were an American rock band formed in Palo Alto, California, in 1993. The band consisted of Brett Anderson (lead vocals), Allison Robertson (guitar, backing vocals), Maya Ford (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Torry Castellano (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Amy Cesari replaced Castellano, who left the band in 2009 due to tendonitis. They drew inspiration from the Ramones, The Runaways, Girlschool, AC/DC, Bachman–Turner Overdrive and Kiss. Rolling Stone has stated that "the Donnas offer a guileless take on adolescent alienation; they traffic in kicks, not catharsis, fun rather than rage". MTV has stated that the band offers "a good old-fashioned rock & roll party". After gathering a cult following in the punk scene since their 1997 debut, the band achieved major label commercial success in the early 2000s and afterward as their music mixed punk, metal and classic rock sounds.
21. KIM SHATTUCK (THE MUFFS)
Kimberly Dianne Shattuck (July 17, 1963 – October 2, 2019) was an American singer, musician, and songwriter. She was the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the American punk rock band the Muffs, which formed in 1991. From 1985 to 1990, Shattuck was a member of The Pandoras. In 2001, she was a singer, guitarist and songwriter for The Beards, a side project composed of Shattuck, Lisa Marr, and Sherri Solinger. In 2013, she served briefly as the bass player for Pixies. Kim Shattuck died on October 2, 2019, following a two-year battle with ALS. On that same day, the Muffs confirmed that they had disbanded. Shortly after, The Muffs released their seventh and final album No Holiday.
THE MUFFS were an American pop punk band based in Southern California, formed in 1991. Led by singer and guitarist Kim Shattuck, the band released four full-length studio albums in the 1990s, as well as numerous singles including "Lucky Guy" and "Sad Tomorrow", and a cover version of "Kids in America". After a long hiatus beginning in 1999, the band released a fifth album in 2004 but thereafter effectively disbanded. Almost a decade later, the three core members of the band reunited and started performing again. Their sixth album, Whoop Dee Doo, was released in 2014.
22. VIV ALBERTINE
Viviane Katrina Louise Albertine (born 1 December 1954) is an Australian-born British musician, singer, songwriter and writer. She is best known as the guitarist for the punk band THE SLITS from 1977 until 1982, with whom she recorded two studio albums. Prior to joining the Slits, Albertine was a member of the Flowers of Romance.
Following the Slits' break-up in 1982, Albertine studied filmmaking and subsequently worked as a freelance director for the BBC and British Film Institute. After a lengthy break from performing and recording music, Albertine released her sole solo studio album, The Vermilion Border, in 2012.
THE SLITS were a punk and post-punk band based in London, formed there in 1976 by members of the groups the Flowers of Romance and the Castrators. The group's early line-up consisted of Ari Up (Ariane Forster) and Palmolive (a.k.a. Paloma Romero, who played briefly with Spizzenergi and later left to join the Raincoats), with Viv Albertine and Tessa Pollitt replacing founding members Kate Korus and Suzy Gutsy.Their 1979 debut album, Cut, has been called one of the defining releases of the post-punk era.
23. KAT BJELLAND - LORI BARBERO - MAUREEN HERMAN (BABES IN TOYLAND)
Katherine Lynne Bjelland (born December 9, 1963) is an American musician. She rose to prominence as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of the alternative rock band Babes in Toyland, which she formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1987. She has been noted for her unusual vocal style alternately consisting of shrill screams, whispering, and speaking in tongues, as well as for her guitar playing style, which incorporates "jagged" tones with "psychotic rockabilly rhythms".
LORI ANNE BARBERO (born November 27, 1961) is an American musician and singer who rose to notoriety as the drummer of the Minneapolis-based punk rock band Babes in Toyland, which she joined in 1987. After the dissolution of Babes in Toyland in 2001, Barbero subsequently played drums for the bands Eggtwist and Koalas. In 2015, she reunited with Babes in Toyland, performing on an international tour with the band.
MAUREEN HERMAN (born July 25, 1966) is an American writer and a musician known as the bassist for the Minneapolis-based band Babes in Toyland from 1992 until 1996 and from 2014 until August 2015.
BABES IN TOYLAND was an American alternative rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 1987. The band was founded by vocalist and guitarist Kat Bjelland, along with drummer Lori Barbero and bassist Michelle Leon, who was later replaced by Maureen Herman in 1992. Babes in Toyland released three studio albums: Spanking Machine (1990), followed by the commercially successful Fontanelle (1992), and Nemesisters (1995), before becoming inactive in 1997 and eventually disbanding in 2001. In 2014, the band reunited, and the following year began performing live together for the first time in over a decade. They completed an international tour throughout 2015, during which bassist Herman was fired and replaced with Clara Salyer. The band later broke up in 2020.
24. CORIN TUCKER - CARRIE BROWNSTEIN - JANET WEISS (SLEATER KINNEY)
CORIN LISA TUCKER (born November 9, 1972) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist best known for her work with rock band Sleater-Kinney. Tucker is also a member of the alternative rock supergroup Filthy Friends, and previously recorded with the indie rock group Heavens to Betsy and The Corin Tucker Band.
CARRIE RACHEL BROWNSTEIN (born September 27, 1974) is an American musician, actress, writer, director, and comedian. She first came to prominence as a member of the band Excuse 17 before forming the rock trio Sleater-Kinney. During a long hiatus from Sleater-Kinney, she formed the group Wild Flag.
JANET LEE WEISS (born September 24, 1965) is an American rock drummer, best known as a former member of Sleater-Kinney and a current member of Quasi. She was the drummer for Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, leaving after the album Mirror Traffic, and contributed to the Shins' fourth studio album, Port of Morrow (2012). She was also the drummer for the supergroup Wild Flag.
SLEATER KINNEY is an American rock band that formed in Olympia, Washington, in 1994.The band's current lineup features Corin Tucker (vocals and guitar) and Carrie Brownstein (guitar and vocals), following the departure of longtime member Janet Weiss (vocals, drums, and harmonica) in 2019.Sleater-Kinney originated as part of the riot grrrl movement and has become a key part of the American indie rock scene. The band is also known for its feminist and liberal politics. The band released seven studio albums between 1994 and 2005: Sleater-Kinney (1995), Call the Doctor (1996), Dig Me Out (1997), The Hot Rock (1999), All Hands on the Bad One (2000), One Beat (2002) and The Woods (2005). They went on hiatus in 2006 and devoted themselves to solo projects. They reunited in 2014 and released No Cities to Love on January 20, 2015, and Live in Paris in January 2017. Their second studio album after their reunion, The Center Won't Hold, was produced by St. Vincent, and released in August 2019. The band's tenth studio album and their first self-produced album, Path of Wellness, was released in June 2021.
25. ALLISON WOLFE - ERIN SMITH - MOLLY NEUMAN (BRATMOBILE)
ALLISON WOLFE (born November 9, 1969) is a Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, writer, and podcaster. As a founding member and lead singer of the punk rock band Bratmobile, she became one of the leading voices of the riot grrl movement. Wolfe has also fronted other bands, including Sex Stains, Partyline, and Cold Cold Hearts. She was one of the principal creators of the original Ladyfest music festival in 2000. She has more recently been the creator and host of the punk rock interview podcast I'm In The Band.
ERIN SMITH (born August 16, 1972) in Washington, D.C., is best known for being the guitarist of riot grrrl band Bratmobile, a band with drummer Molly Neuman and vocalist Allison Wolfe. Smith started her zine Teenage Gang Debs in 1987 with her brother Don. In 1991, she started interning at Sassy magazine, where she wrote articles about independent music and exposed girls to DIY culture. Also in 1991, Smith started playing guitar in Bratmobile with Molly Neuman on drums and Allison Wolfe on vocals. The band was active until 1994, when they went on hiatus. During this hiatus, Smith and Wolfe started a new band Cold Cold Hearts. Bratmobile reformed in 1999, but split again in 2003 after two more albums. Smith later took over management of Lookout! records.
MOLLY NEUMAN (born June 18, 1972) is an American drummer, writer and publisher, originally from the Washington, D.C. area who has performed in such influential bands as Bratmobile, the Frumpies, and the PeeChees. She was a pioneer of the early-to-mid '90s riot grrrl movement, penning the zine which coined the phrase in its title. She also co-wrote Girl Germs with Bratmobile singer Allison Wolfe while the two were students at the University of Oregon; that title later became the name of a Bratmobile song.
BRATMOBILE was an American punk band from Olympia, Washington, active from 1991 to 2003, and known for being one of the first-generation "riot grrrl" bands. The band was influenced by several eclectic musical styles, including elements of pop, surf, and garage rock.
26. HOLLY GOLIGHTLY - KYRA LARUBIA - LUDELLA BLACK - DEBBIE GREEN (THEE HEADCOATEES)
HOLLY GOLIGHTLY (born Holly Golightly Smith on 7 September 1966) is a British singer-songwriter. Her mother christened her after the main character of Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's. Her musical style ranges from garage rock to R&B. Holly Golightly has gone on to pursue a solo career, recording more than ten LPs, and has worked with the bands The Greenhornes and The White Stripes and in her latter career has formed the band Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs. Kyra and Debbie went on to sing for The A Lines (featuring Delia from Mambo Taxi and Julie Hamper of Billy Childish's Musicians of the British Empire); Debbie and Delia currently play in Ye Nuns.
KYRA LARUBIA and LUDELLA BLACK later appeared in The Shall I Say Quois alongside Julie Hamper, while Debbie also went on to play with Dutronc Baby Birkin and The Speed of Sound; she also drummed and sang with Would-Be-Goods, and recorded in The Buffets, alongside Hamper.
THEE HEADCOATEES were an all-female garage band formed in Chatham, Kent, England in 1991. They were part of the Medway scene. The members were Holly Golightly, Kyra LaRubia, Ludella Black and "Bongo" Debbie Green. Thee Headcoatees were formed by Billy Childish as a backing group for his band Thee Headcoats. Ludella Black's previous band The Delmonas had performed the same function for Childish's earlier bands, starting with The Milkshakes. Their songs were principally written by Billy Childish and were songs that did not suit his own acts. After Holly Golightly did a cameo appearance with Thee Headcoats, Childish added her to The Delmonas lineup; soon thereafter the band was renamed Thee Headcoatees.
27. JEAN HUGHES (JEAN AND THE STATESIDES)
Jean & The Statesides were an UK (Chester, Cheshire, United Kingdom) obscure girl group active in the mid 1960s, They released three singles in 1964 and 1965. All girl R&B who cut three singles before Jean Hughes changed her name to Cindy Cole and had hit records in America. Their debut single features Nicky Hopkins.

28. JAQUELINE TAIEB
Jacqueline Taïeb (born 9 November 1948) is a French singer and songwriter of Jewish Tunisian descent. She achieved her greatest success as a pop and yé-yé singer in France in the 1960s. Taïeb arrived in France from Tunisia in 1956 with her parents at age eight. She began composing songs with her guitar at 12 and, in 1966, was discovered by a talent scout while singing with friends. After arriving in Paris, she signed to Impact Records and released the song "7 heures du matin" in 1967, which became her biggest French hit. She was voted Best Newcomer at the inaugural Midem music festival in Cannes for the song. The song was about a bored teenage girl who does not wish to go to school that day and fantasizes about rock and roll stars such as The Who and Paul McCartney. In the early 1970s, Taïeb took a break from recording. In 1988, she penned the song "Ready to Follow You", which became an international hit for American singer Dana Dawson. The single sold more than 500,000 copies, and the album sold 300,000 in France alone.
29. HOLLY GOLIGHTLY
HOLLY GOLIGHTLY (born Holly Golightly Smith on 7 September 1966) is a British singer-songwriter. Her mother christened her after the main character of Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's. Her musical style ranges from garage rock to R&B. While she was dating Thee Headcoats' drummer Bruce Brand she had an impromptu singing performance with his band. Billy Childish, founder of the Headcoats, added her to the line up of The Delmonas and changed the name to Thee Headcoatees. Thee Headcoatees were primarily a garage band that backed up the Thee Headcoats. In 1995 she started her solo career but continued to be an active member of Thee Headcoatees until they disbanded in 1999. For her solo career, she draws from rhythm and blues, rockabilly, and sounds of the 1960s or earlier.

AMY GORE is a songwriter, guitarist and singer from Detroit, Michigan. In 1997 she founded the Gore Gore Girls, the first of a handful of all-female bands of the garage rock genre.
MICHELLE LANNOO, CAROL ANNE SCHUMACHER are the bassists of the Gore Gore Girls.
MONICA BREEN, NICKY STYXX are the drummers of the Gore Gore Girls.
GORE GORE GIRLS are an all female garage rock band from Detroit, Michigan, formed in 1997 by singer/songwriter Amy Gore. The band's name comes from The Gore Gore Girls, a 1972 B-movie by Herschell Gordon Lewis, which is a parody of the term Go Go Girls. Formed in Detroit, MI, in 1997, Gore Gore Girls were one of the pioneers in the garage rock revival underground of the southeastern Michigan area. Their campy image and name may have suggested a poppy punk band, but the actual sound was a far more appealing blend of girl group melodies and garage rock attitude. They were originally made up of guitarist Amy Surdu, drummer Jeff Klein, and bassist Paula Regalado. In 1998, Deanne Iovan joined, taking Regalado's place when she left the band. Deb Agolli signed up to play drums and sing, and the new lineup recorded a single before unveiling Strange Girls in 2000.
31. PAULA PIERCE - GWYNNE KAHN - BAMBI CONWAY - CASEY GOMEZ (THE PANDORAS)
THE PANDORAS is an all-female garage punk band from Los Angeles, California with a run from 1982 to 1991. The band band was formed in 1983 by bandleader PAULA PIERCE (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica) and GWYNNE KAHN (organ and vocals). Pierce’s boyfriend at the time was Shelley Ganz, leader of a garage rock revival band called the Unclaimed; while Kahn was dating Joe Nolte who was in a similar band called the Last. Bambi Conway (bass and vocals) and CASEY GOMEZ (drums) rounded out the original line-up of the Pandoras.
The PANDORAS is among the first handful of all-female rock bands to ever be signed. From the beginning, the band found a strong following in the Hollywood garage rock and Paisley Underground scene, making the gossip pages almost weekly. The Pandoras enjoyed strong radio support from DJ Rodney Bingenheimer. The band graduated from the garage rock sound to a more contemporary, hard rock style in later years, spawning the off-shoot band The Muffs. The Pandoras founder/singer/songwriter, Paula Pierce, died on August 10, 1991, of a brain aneurysm at the age of 31. The Muffs front-woman/founder Kim Shattuck who played bass in the Pandoras from 1985 to 1990 passed in October 2nd, 2019 from ALS. Shattuck had appeared as lead singer/lead guitarist of the reunited Pandoras in recent years, until her passing.
32. LISA GERMANO
Lisa Ruth Germano (born June 27, 1958) is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Indiana. Her album Geek the Girl (1994) was chosen as a top album of the 1990s by Spin magazine. She began her career as a violinist for John Mellencamp. As of 2018 she has released thirteen albums.
Germano was working as a violinist when rock singer John Mellencamp invited her to play on his album. For seven years she toured and recorded as a member of Mellencamp's band, appearing on The Lonesome Jubilee (1987), Big Daddy (1989), Falling from Grace (1991), Human Wheels (1993), and Dance Naked (1994). During the 1980s she also appeared on albums by Simple Minds and the Indigo Girls. After recording with Henry Lee Summer, Bob Seger, and Carrie Newcomer, Germano began a solo career with the album On the Way Down from the Moon Palace (1991), recorded in Indianapolis and released by her label, Major Bill Records. Although sales were low, the album got the attention of Capitol Records, which signed her to a contract and released her next album Happiness (1993). Personnel changes at Capitol resulted in the departure of most of her benefactors, but she retained the rights to her album. She signed a contract with the British label 4AD, which had a manufacturing and distribution deal with Warner Bros. in the U.S. Ivo Watts-Russell, founder and president of 4AD, was a fan of Germano's work. He remixed some of the tracks from Happiness with producer and engineer John Fryer, who had been involved in Watts-Russell's This Mortal Coil project. In early 1994, 4AD issued Inconsiderate Bitch, a limited-edition EP which contained five of the remixed tracks. In April of that year Happiness was reissued with different artwork, mixing, sequencing. Two tracks, including a cover version of "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'", were replaced.
