ABIOTIC LAUNCH TEASER VIDEO FOR NEW ALBUM "IKIGAI"

Recently re-emerged technical death metal outfit Abiotic is proud to announce their third full-length, Ikigai. The album will be released on Friday, February 12th, 2021 via The Artisan Era. Cover art was handled by Caelan Stokkermans known for his work with Soreption, Cattle Decapitation, and Fires in the Distance. Abiotic - Ikigai was engineered, produced, mixed, and mastered by Tony Simone at Zenbeast Media. Vocals were recorded and produced by Nick Loiacono at Fang Studios.

Active since 2010, Abiotic sprang to life with an urgent sense of immediacy that saw them signed to Metal Blade Records after their 2011 independent EP, A Universal Plague, was released. The band toured relentlessly from then on while also dropping their 2012 debut album, Symbiosis, and their sophomore album, Casuistry, in 2015. 

While going on hiatus does not necessarily mean a group's best days are behind them, often this rings true, yet Abiotic eagerly buck that trend with their finest effort yet on Ikigai. Ikigai is strongly recommended for fans of The Faceless, Gojira, The Black Dahlia Murder, Job For a Cowboy, and Rivers of Nihil. Abiotic states, "We also leaned on some classical and eastern style instrumentation, along with some progressive and jazzy elements."

The band is excited to launch an early album teaser video for Ikigai today. A full early single and active pre-orders will be coming soon later this month.

"Our intention behind Ikigai was to come back with a vengeance. As it has been over 5 years since our last release, we wanted to put together the most cohesive, diverse, deep, and brain shattering record we possibly could and I feel like we've achieved that and more with this album. Having written this over the course of the last couple of years and finishing this record during a pandemic, the feelings we sought to bring out with this record; pain, grief, desperation, and perseverance are palpable in every note, every chord, and every word, with lyrics touching on topics of suicide, depression, addiction, climate change and the struggle of finding our reason for being.

We wanted to make this record real and relatable in every sense. This album is without a doubt the best material we've ever put together, with brand new elements, and a production/mix that has taken our sound to new heights. The addition of Tony Simone and Kilian Duarte solidified this. We decided to include a variety of guests that we've always wanted to collaborate with, like Trevor Strnad, Chaney Crabb, Brandon Ellis, Scott Carstairs, Jared Smith, and Jonathan Carpenter, and are beyond excited for everyone to hear them.

We really wanted to push the boundaries of what fans expect from us while giving them the signature sound we've honed in that they've come to love. Personally, Ikigai is one of the greatest accomplishments of my life, especially after not knowing if the band was ever going to come back. But we're back. And we're here to stay."

EX SEPULTURA GUITARIST JAIRO "TORMENTOR" GUEDZ NEW BAND: THE TROOPS OF DOOM

Former SEPULTURA guitarist Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz has launched a new band called THE TROOPS OF DOOM . The band includes Marcelo Vasco on guitars, Alex Kafer (ex NECROMANCER, EXPLICIT HATE, ENTERRO) on bass and vocals and Alexandre Oliveira (SOUTHERN BLACKLIST) on drums. The band has signed with Nuclear Blast´s extreme sublabel Blood Blast to release their debut EP “The Rise Of Heresy”. The EP will feature four new tracks and new versions of SEPULTURA´s "Troops of Doom" and "Bestial Devastation". Jairo Guedz played on the first two SEPULTURA releases: the "Bestial Devastation" EP from 1985 and the debut album "Morbid Visions" from 1986. You can see a teaser below: 

MALEVOLENT CREATION STREAMS NEW ALBUM TEASER

MALEVOLENT CREATION are streaming an unfinished demo song that will be included on their forthcoming 13th album. AMON AMARTH RELEASES TEASER FOR NEW SINGLE

Swedish death viking metal masters Amon Amarth have released a teaser video (entitled "Keyboard Warrior") for their new single, "First Kill". "First Kill" will be the first single of the band´s new album "Jomsviking" that will be released in March 25th and will be the follow up to their "Deceiver of the Gods" album that was released in 2013. Once a stoner band, nowadays Phased play a sort of heavy, leaden and groovy psychedelic doom – motor doom, as their former label boss fittingly baptized it. Six years into their last studio recording, the Swiss trio now releases AEON. Seven monoliths of down-tuned guitars, slow beats and a subtly threatening vocal treatment, that were recorded by Chris Sigdell (voice, guitar), Marko Lehtinen (drums) and Michael Greilinger (filling in on bass) at Helium Records in Basel. The album was mixed by Richard Whittaker in London and mastered by Greg Chandler in Birmingham.

Phased have released three albums so far: «Music For Gentlemen» (2003) and the Elektrohasch classics «Medications» (2006) and «A Sort Of Spasmic Phlegm...» (2009). In 2013 Space Rock Productions released a double vinyl compilation. The band has played several European festivals of high renown, such as Stoned From The Underground, Up In Smoke or Doom Shall Rise – and single shows with bands like Mastodon, High On Fire, Orange Goblin, Spirit Caravan and many more.

AEON will be released on CD, LP and as digital download.

E-FORCE STREAMS NEW ALBUM TEASER

E-Force, the band featuring former Voivod frontman Eric Forrest, will release their new album entitled "Demonikhol", on June 9th in North America and June 19th in Europe via Mausoleum Records. The new album is a concept album, with alcohol as the subject matter illustrating the ravages and destruction of all kinds it is capable of causing. E-Force has made an audio teaser  available. The lead guitar parts on the record were delivered by guitarists: Vincent Agar (Yotangor/ Lust), Tomáš Skořepa, (Exorcizphobia), neo-classical Antonello Gilliberto, Dan Baune (Monument), and Rob Urbinati (Sacrifice).

HERFST STREAMS NEW EP TEASER

Belgian blackened death metal band Herfst have released a video teaser for their new EP entitled "Towards Haunted Shores" (you can check it below). The band has also released the artwork for the new EP as can be seen above. "Towards Haunted Shores" was produced by Dan Swanö and mixed in the Unisound Studios.

THE NEGATION STREAMS NEW ALBUM TEASER

French nihilistic black metal band The Negation have released a teaser video for their new album, entitled "Memento Mori" (you can check the teaser below). "Memento Mori" was produced at the Hybreed Studio (Temple Of Baal, Glorior Belli) and features artwork by Metastazis (Morbid Angel, Behemoth, Watain). The album will be released on July 7th through Kaotoxin Records and is the follow up to the band´s debut "Paths of Obedience".

Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell have just released a teaser for their new album, entitled "Extinct". Polish black death metal band Behemoth will be releasing a limited edition, hand numbered 12" EP entitled "Xiadz". The EP will be released on November 1st in three vinyl colours and only in 500 copies.
