We are proud to welcome WHITE TUNDRA to the Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records family. These visionary heavy voyagers channel the raw power of nature into their music, blending crushing riffs, groovy rhythms and a deep atmospheric sensibility.

Emerging from the northern marshes, WHITE TUNDRA creates sonic journeys that drift across icy tundras and into shadowy forests. Their sound is a thrilling mix of 70s heavy rock and 90s stoner vibes, enriched by elements of doom, black metal and Nordic folklore. With influences ranging from Red Fang to Witchcraft and Skraeckoedlan, they deliver a truly unique and heavy experience.

After making waves with their self-titled debut album in 2023, which earned a place on the Doom Charts and widespread praise throughout the underground scene, WHITE TUNDRA are now back in the studio. The band is currently working on their second full-length album at AutumnSongs Recording Studio, with producer Rhys Marsh behind the console.

The band states, “We’re stoked to be part of the Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records family. This partnership marks a new chapter for WHITE TUNDRA and we’re excited to share the powerful new material we’ve been creating.”

Formed in 2018, WHITE TUNDRA has already released a 7-inch single, an EP, and a debut album through the local label All Good Clean Records. With a solid and inspired lineup now in place, they are ready to reach new heights and captivate a wider audience.

MURDERESS RELEASE "TIME TO KILL: VOLUME II"

The extreme metal band Murderess returns in full force with "Time to Kill: Volume II", a direct sequel to their debut release. This new EP deepens the band’s fusion of death, doom, and black metal, combining it with sharp, politically engaged lyrics. It expands on Murderess’s core purpose: to give voice to memory, pain, and female resistance — whether rooted in real lives, mythic figures, or stories erased by official history.

Recorded once again at Orbis Studio (DF) with co-production between the band and the studio, the EP delivers an even denser sound, filled with crushing riffs, visceral vocals, and ritualistic atmospheres that channel the ferocity of death metal, the brooding introspection of doom, and the symbolic weight of black metal.

Each track serves as a chapter of denunciation and evocation. In “Lady Death”, the band pays tribute to Soviet sniper Ljudmila Pavlichenko, one of the deadliest fighters of World War II. The track “Baba Yaga”, which also appears on the EP’s cover, reimagines the witch as a powerful, ambiguous force — a mythic figure who defies the commodification of female bodies. The provocative “No Father” takes aim at patriarchal religiosity, confronting the historical abuse and silencing of women within dominant spiritual narratives.

Closing the EP, the instrumental piece “Murderess II” connects directly to Volume I, continuing the band’s narrative through layered sonic textures that function as a soundtrack for collective memory, survival, and rage.

Founded in 2023 by Jazz Kaipora (guitar) and Claudia Franco (vocals), and now joined by Pedro Fraga (drums) and Clarissa Carvalho (bass), Murderess has been making its mark as one of the most compelling names in the Brazilian underground metal scene. Known for their intense live performances and appearances alongside bands like Crypta, Mystifier, Velho, and Vazio, the group stands out for its brutal sonic identity and fiercely intentional message — a collective cry for memory, justice, and liberation.

URSAWRATH was founded by vocalist and bassist Adam Schaefer in September 2023 after relocating to Seattle to pursue music and form a new band. To recruit members, Schaefer recorded a four-song demo featuring early versions of “Thawed by Hell's Flames,” “In the Abyss,” “Echo Chamber,” and “Sentenced to Life.” Shortly after, guitarists DJ and Lucas Robertson joined the fold, and the trio began rehearsing and refining material. Drummer Maximilian Onsager completed the lineup in spring 2024.

With the full band in place, URSAWRATH began writing new material and reworking the demo tracks, adding guitar solos, updated arrangements, and new drum parts. They started performing live around Seattle in May 2024 to establish themselves in the local scene. By October, the band entered the studio to self-record their debut album Emergence, which features reimagined versions of the original demo songs alongside new tracks written collaboratively. With Emergence complete, URSAWRATH returned to the stage, continuing to build momentum as one of the most exciting new voices in progressive thrash.

Denver, Colorado's stadium crust act VICTIM OF FIRE deliver an engulfing sonic experience with a significant focus on twin guitar harmonies. Seeking to set the stage ablaze with their new album and forthcoming tour dates around North America and Canada this September, The Old Lie that is set for release on August 1, 2025 via Human Future Records/Return Trip Records.

The Old Lie is a continuation of the bands sound from where they left off with Disembrace in 2022. This album also sees a shift in the band's creative process, being the first to include contributions from every live member. The title track kicks off the release with a somewhat divergent sound. Steering into the melo-death territory, VICTIM OF FIRE showcase the genre fusion aspect of their sound while still retaining their roots as a d-beat crust band. "The Old Lie"’s lyrics come from a poem by the English Poet Wilfred Owens, lifting the curtain behind the bleak realities experienced by soldiers in World War One. 

Rife with harmonies, "Apocalyptic Inclination" exposes the 'warfare mindset' reinforced by politicians, especially in the US. "Wayward Light" continues the trajectory of the fast and melodic in a ferocious fury of riffs and harmonies. "Nightmares of Ceasefire" sees the fast and the furious endure, thematically exploring the perspectives of those who profit from war and death. "Soldiers Dream" is also influenced by Wilfred Owen's poem from which the song's title is taken. An enthralling combination of emotions, textures and tones, it's also the fastest track on the album.

A staple of the band's live shows "Discordance" was written from a more personal perspective about the process of adjusting to 'reality' following a period of touring. "Barren Path" sees VICTIM OF FIRE present an open and honest sharing of struggles with imposter syndrome. Shifting gears, "Front Towards enemy" embarks on a wild ride stylistically, deviating from the rest of the track list. Followed by "Disharmonist", the band's self proclaimed "magnum opus", the track original appeared as a single in 2021. For The Old Lie, it's been revamped with further harmonies and an increase in speed. VICTIM OF FIRE end with their own distinctive take on IRON MAIDEN's "Aces High". 

About VICTIM OF FIRE:

Initially formed in 2016, the Denver hailing blackened crust ensemble began as a side project filling in a creative gap and available studio time. Now, almost a decade later, the quartet are preparing to unearth their third studio album, The Old Lie, and bring their explosive sound to the masses around the US and Canada.

Inspired by the likes of TRAGEDY, DISFEAR, IN FLAMES, DISMEMBER and IRON MAIDEN, Austin reveals his creative influences, "harmonized guitars have always been my favorite part of music ever since I discovered IRON MAIDEN at the age of 16, and I’ve just been trying to recreate it in my bands wherever I can. Also not being afraid to take a risk with a song of musical style to see if it connects. Originally formed by tattoo artist Vincent P.L. (vocals) and guitarist Philippe Leblanc, SCORCHING TOMB has since solidified its most formidable lineup yet with the addition of Miguel Lepage (ex–Blind Witness, ex–Obey the Brave) on bass and Émile Savard (Profane Order, ex–Malebranche) on drums. With this new blood, the band has evolved from a local standout into a fully weaponized force.

Now, the time has come to follow in the footsteps of Cryptopsy, Quo Vadis, and Despised Icon, proving once again that Montreal remains a relentless, unyielding powerhouse in the world of death metal.

In his ravenous pursuit of the essence of wickedness he has incinerated even the cold ashes of his empathy and become a scientist, an artist, in his dedication to the instigation of absolute despair in others. With his soulless yet remarkably creative invention he has invoked revelatory levels of agony and raging flames of torment beyond imagining. He has meticulously aroused states of being in his subjects wherein the memory of mere pain becomes a dream, an unattainable nirvana. And with each bloody step along his path he calls out to the powers he reveres – notice me, elevate me, transform me – but as yet, they remain silent.

Darren Cesca, drummer with Goratory, Eschaton and previously Deeds Of Flesh, has returned with the second album from his unconscionably brutal solo project, Cytolysis. Surge Of Cruelty is constructed from eleven sonic acts of torture, where twisted technicality and methodical precision collide with frenzied explosions of fury and unnerving alien atmospheres. From the psychotic dissection of opening gambit, ‘Your Slow Demise’, the listener is led ever deeper into an inescapable labyrinth of terror. An arcane aura bleeds through the cracks between the devilish riffs of the title track, ‘Surge Of Cruelty’, while ‘A Blood Soaked Offering’, featuring a shockingly inhuman guest vocal performance from Brian Forgue (Syphilic etc), is relentless, merciless in its stabbing assault. Forgue is not the only guest vocalist, with throat ripping contributions also being made by Adam Mason of Goratory, Mac Smith of Apogean and Eschaton and Flo Butcher of Tortured and Vile infamy. Perhaps the most intense and scarring track though is delivered by Cesca alone; saved til last ‘Hung From The Rafters’ ensures that an indelible mark is left on the consciousness, a wound that will never heal, suppurating in the mind through every passing day.

Surge Of Cruelty was also mixed and mastered by Darren Cesca – a role he has fulfilled for the likes of In Asymmetry, Pillory and Goratory – and the overwhelming force, intricate riffs and deep, destructive bass tones have been captured perfectly. Adorned in the hypnotically horrifying artwork of Vladimir Cebakov (Six Feet Under, 1914, DeadHead etc), that taps directly into the vein of vicious indifference that pulses beneath the cold skin of Surge Of Cruelty, this second barbaric testament from Cytolysis will be unleashed by Comatose Music on August 8th. Prepare to be flattened by this shuddering juggernaut of torment!

Guitarist Jaakko Hautamäki comments: 

"Joni pondered the matter long and hard: Would anyone notice if he added some melody and triplets for Pepe? Pepe noticed the wrongdoing, but the new armchair was far too comfortable to get up from. Joni performed his secret rituals, pulled out the best lead section from his sleeve, and in his usual sadistic fashion, placed it only once at the end of the track. “It can’t only come once!” Everyone agreed – we were left yearning for a climax worthy of the end of the album. After hundreds of consultants were discussed with, nevertheless the solution was spontaneously invented in the studio: “Just throw in some double bass or something to make it last longer.” Tuomo could not believe his ears when he got the finished work on his desk. It was too soft and honeyed; it lacked coldness and mechanicalness completely. This was immediately corrected by adding icy echoes and scooped frequency curves. Niko approved the changes."

BIOGRAPHY:

In the beginning, Progeny of Sun was a two-man band formed by Jaakko Hautamäki and Niko Aromaa. Jaakko was responsible for the instrumentals, mixing, and mastering, while Niko handled the vocals, lyrics, visuals, etc.

The songs Jaakko introduced were very versatile. Some had speed, some were slow, some painted a picture with their atmosphere, and some were more straightforward bangers. Despite the diversity in style, everything worked exceptionally well in tandem, and from this premise, the band started to develop and pave its own way forward.

To start with, Progeny of Sun created a 6-song self-titled EP and discovered that their music was met with great reception. The duo behind the band did all the mixing, mastering, videos, and artwork themselves. The project as a whole was very fun and rewarding to work on.

After the EP release, Jaakko and Niko began to think that something more was still needed. They still had a burning desire to spread their music around the world, but with just two people, it would have been impossible.

Subsequently, Jaakko found two local musicians from the Seinäjoki area: Joni Kiviniemi (guitar) and Juha Peura (drums). Joni and Juha were initially brought on board just to offer their vision and play their assigned instruments for new material. Soon, however, it began to feel like they were part of the family, and so it was decided that they would become full-fledged members of the squad and a part of the band's story. Not long after, Tuomo Tolkki (bass) was also welcomed to join, and in a matter of a few months, the full lineup was formed.

The first release with the full lineup, a 3-track EP 'Dark Wanderer', was released in 2021. Next in line were the single releases ‘Worthless’ and ‘Anguish’, which were released in 2022. Thanks to the aforementioned experimental phase, Progeny of Sun has gained self-confidence and started to understand its own identity. The band worked hard on the debut album ‘Throne of Desolation’, which was released at the end of 2023. Progeny of Sun's second album 'Prophets of the Void' will be released in September 2025. Following their debut album, the band has identified their strengths, which are utilized and showcased even more prominently on the second album.
