There are many bands on the modern metal scene that juxtapose shuddering heaviness and heart lifting melody, but few, if any, that do it in the utterly accomplished, breathtaking fashion of Shamash. From Done With Misery…’s first track, the triumphant metal anthem that is ‘Not By My Heart’, Shamash’s deft and dextrous weaving of musical elements is immediately apparent. And yet that outstanding opening barrage is just the first step on a path that is littered with sonic treasures, as Done With Misery… grows and develops with each passing minute, revealing more and more of the band’s adventurous song writing and passionate performances. Band commentary about lyrical theme: “Inspired by the state of culture and technology that beckons the doomsday clock to tick forward; Machine Eater is a dystopian love letter written to the modern metal listeners who are exhausted by the sterile, neon-gated vista of the perceived future. Mothflesh's interpretation of the state of aggressive music is a battery-powered monolith built upon the bedrock of Death Metal and propelled with the artery-pumping surge of Modern Hardcore. The ashen coated lyrics were anecdotes borne out of the South Asian smokestack of exploitation and capitalism tongued in a hybridisation of English and Bahasa. Voiced through Oriental modalities and pulsed on a Carnatic heartbeat, Machine Eater is Mothflesh's 40 minute, 10 song slaved vision of the future.”
Band commentary about composing upcoming album: "The compositional process of our first single The Lotus Denial is the quintessential example of how Machine Eater was assembled through the course of 2021. The inspiration for the main hook draws it's dissonance voicing from traditional death metal, akin to Bolt Throweror Obituary. We follow this with a melodic counter melody based on the Hirajoshi scale. This hybrid application of both dissonant and minor scales are the taproot for how Mothflesh forms its voicing and riffs. Upon completion of the main riff, we composed some fundamental drum lines to provide context to the song's intensity and focus on the verse which acts as another anchorpoint. When utilising extended range guitars with strings tuned to Drop A, we felt that the Djentification was inevitable. The combination of intense main hooks and bouncy-castle-headbang verses provide another example for how the band utilises the concept of tension and release in its songcrafting. Once the framework for the drums were completed, the track was sent over to Naman Sachdev through fiverr to re-build the drum lines based on our foundation and his vision.".

Silenced Minstrel (age 44 years, born Saiful Nizam Shukor, 28th March 1976) is a full time singer, songwriter musician from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Been playing music since 1991 he co-founded HALUN, a gothic black metal band back in 1996, produced several demos, one EP and one LP before the badly deformed monstrosity was laid to rest in 2015. Writing and producing mostly in his bedroom studio nicknamed “Sky Panacea Enterprise” he spent the entire 2016 gathering writing and recording materials for his debut album “Volume 1” choosing to name it as such as to not make it sounds too rockstar-ish.
The sixth album “Volume 666” is an album that came out in August 2021 and is a continuation of the artist’s previous musical inclination, direction and concept but with an addition of a new band logo and a slightly different album cover art.

“Volume 1” is a combination of melodic gothic stuff mixed with thrash, death and doom metal riffs and black metal atmosphere, utilizing the most basic of guitar effects, cheap keyboards/ synthesizers and MIDI orchestra throughout the entire album to produce something that he’d always wanted to do: anything that didn’t sound like his former band! The album is completed in September but it be long after the production of the second album was underway when that album graced the scene...
The second album “Volume 2” saw some maturity in his songwriting, the MIDI orchestra part ditched altogether and it also saw a fair amount of rough edges deliberately highlighted in the mix, and a lot more gothic atmosphere throughout than before especially in the lyrics department, where he wrote songs about the occult, immortality, vampirism and forbidden love between the mortal and the damned, also some cryptic poetic inclinations thrown to the mix just for the heck of it.
The third album “Volume 3” saw him moving ever closer towards a more melodic black metal sound than the old one, this time the long ditched MIDI orchestra element restored along with some double-layered bass guitar tracks and even gloomier atmosphere than before, reflecting the state of his mind, body, spirit and environment that he’s at during that period of time; with traces of anger, hatred, betrayal and vengeance gracing every song in the album (he fully recovered from his decade long clinical depression that same year).
The fourth album “Volume 4” saw him disposing of all the gothic melodic stuff and straight into just vocals guitars bass and drums, trying to go as dry and as harsh as he can, tackling on darker themes like deviant spirituality, Satanism, atheism, philosophy and dark fantasy. Fast tempo is the name of the game; the drums gained more prominence and absolutely no melodic stuff present on this album.
The fifth album “Volume 5” saw the further development of sound and direction from the previous album, adding also an orchestral style instrumental black metal song as the last track of the album, a song that hearkens back to his old days in HALUN.
The artist is currently occupied promoting his new album, gathering materials for the sixth album and also working on his other band “Shadowed Grace” playing New Age Scifi Fantasy Instrumental Synthesizer music. Silenced Minstrel is unsigned and is looking for exposure, a recording contract and developing fanbases all across the globe.

'Representations of the Id' is the first full-length album of Malaysia's new sludge/doom-core gem Dionysian.
